The Blackwood Syndicate is a guild for Warhammer Online on the White Tower (RP) server. We’re a mature, casual, and friendly group of people who enjoy all aspects of the game from crafting to PvE to RvR.
The Blackwood Syndicate Values
Personal character is more important than play style. We value honest, helpful, and friendly people who have pride in their realm and their reputation regardless of how much time you have available to play each week or what class your character happens to be.
No voice chat / ventrilo. We don’t use voice chat software in any capacity. We believe that voice chat ruins world immersion and that it’s not really necessary anyway. We may not be the “leetest” guild because of this but we’ll work together as a team and definitely be regarded as a formidable foe.
Family friendly. We’re looking for adults who want to enjoy Warhammer Online with other adults. We have a 20+ age restriction and require members to be respectful and considerate of other members. No rude behaviour, arguements, or other disruptive activity will be tolerated.
Alt friendly. Most of us have several alts and play them on a regular basis. Each of your alts can be a member of the guild.
Play style friendly. You’re free to play your character as you see fit and shouldn’t expect a critique of your career choice, tactics, or other game decisions unless you ask for one. Of course we all strive to play our characters to the full extent of their abilities but you won’t find any “required” specs or be made to play a class you dislike for the “good of the guild”.
We want to experience all aspects of the game: questing, public quests, RvR, PvE, dungeon crawls, keep sieges, scenarios, crafting, harvesting, and anything else we can think up!
Light RP. We want all members to remain in character within the game. This doesn’t mean that you have to role play in the traditional sense, just keep real world topics out of your conversations within the game. Some of our members role play more than others and you’re free to participate or not as you see fit. In either case, mutual respect of each other’s choices in playing their character is expected and enforced.
Casual friendly. We have no play time or guild event participation requirements. We schedule guild events for the enjoyment of our members but attendance isn’t required. We too have families, jobs, and other hobbies that don’t allow us to play WAR on a regular schedule and welcome members no matter how much time per week they have to devote to the game. We do have members that devote a lot of time to the game though so don’t feel left out if you do play a lot because you’ll certainly have company!
Rules of Conduct
Always remain in character. Role play is optional but conversations in game should be related to the game.
No begging, greed before need looting, hassling other members and no stealing. We’re syndicate of associates not a thieves den.
No rude or disrespectful behavior will be tolerated toward anyone.
No arguing in public channels including guild chat. Common sense will dictate the difference between a discussion and an argument.
Do not dispute other member’s choices regarding character, tactics, specs, or other game choices unless asked.
No vulgarity.
Real world politics and religion subjects are not welcome in game or on the forums. There are political and religious topics in war that are, of course, not off limits but don’t relate them to real-world affairs. We want to create a safe environment where people don’t feel like they have to explain or defend their beliefs or lifestyle.
Try. We don’t expect perfection but we do expect our members to be willing to learn and take responsibility for their actions.
Above all, use common sense. We want to create a friendly and safe environment for people who don’t traditionally have much of a role in “hardcore” guilds to enjoy all the great things being in a guild can offer. When in doubt just be nice.
