I got a call in to our health insurance company with info about losing the meds with the roof water happening. They called me back and found a pharmacy open outside our area and got my scripts on order. The pharmcy let me know i can pick up the meds today.
i Got online a bit yesterday (wireless) and was able to order some clothing /shoes . We were told not to try and save the clothing that was damaged in the water.
I got out our subdivision finnaly yesterday the trees blocking the road were moved to the side.
I was amazed the back end of our subdivison still wtihout power and more genartor cords to be seen across the street. While some may have power others do not.
There have been fiers across the areas from candles and improper use of generators. In some cases power coming back on and caused sparks.
A plant in passadana errupted into flames last night.
We finnaly heard from our insurance company and they are suppose to be here thursay. With any luck we can get at least a tarp on the roof before rain may come again.
I am feeling more positive because of soon getting meds and glasses. I still have bad nightmares at night and wake up from them.
At our pharmacy there was a sign "we have milk eggs bread" the line was so long you could not get into the parking lot. I wonder how they managed to get fresh stuff when the stores that were opened could not? They have not stocked the pharamcy yet and they said it may be a while before they are fully stocked with meds.
The sign of the times "closed due to ike" untill further notice.......
Electrical tech question with everything unplugged before the storm why is it some items do not work? and others do work Just curious....
Anyway trying to find a silver lining all i can come up with it could be much worse

Any good news to report Zoey? I've been searching for something positive and about all I can come up with is nearly 90% of power is restored. Not that that is a small feat, just slow going I guess. Makes me think about all the things I take for granted.
Keep us updated when you can. Any info on the web is so convoluted it's hard to get a sense of what people are actually seeing in their neighborhoods. Aside from this story, which tugs at the heart strings to say the least.
About your electronics question: Some devices have internal components -called capacitors- that store energy when external power is removed. They are mostly used for simple memory storage. Any devices that do store electricity via capacitors are apt to short circuit when submerged, which causes component damage. Most devices, that do not store electricity internally, work fine once they are dried out (as long as power isn't applied while moisture is still present).
It's probably a little late now, but if you have any electronic devices that are affected by salt water, submerge them in a tub of fresh water several times and let them dry before attempting to apply power.
We got into houston a bit on sat. One of the animal shelters sent an email alert about massive over crowding and what was going to happen to the animals not adopted or fostered out due to the over crowding.
So in the truck we slowly made our way to the shelter admist the non working street lights and on westhimer bumper to bumper traffic.
We ended up adopting buffy a small puppy about 6- 7 weeks old they said she looked like a malti poo part maltease and part toy poodle. They found her mom at a store behind it the babies gave her away. So we got a new addition to the family. From looks of her paws she will be tiny. Since i am disabled i needed something i could easily manage. We have two chuiauas very friendly that took to her right away. Female started licking her and dragged her to her kennel and has appointed herself as buffys keeper.
They started picking up storm debrey in our area. Everything from large appliances to sheet rock to tree limbs.
They are going to try and use the cut branches for mulch for our area parks.
Sat went to our main store and it still did not have fresh cold stuff or meat. We went to a smaller grocery at the back end of subdivision they had a sign " inspected by.... 3 contious days of below recomended tempreture and they had meat milk eggs produce!!!!!!!
My moms area spring branch ( spring shadows) was still without power by the weekend they seem to have almost 80 precent back. So she and sis will make there way back to town. She understands it will be a while before the grocery stores in her area have stock due to the tempreture requirements of continual cold for x amount of days.
I felt more positive getting normal food. No one is going to restock their fridge freezer untill we see that we have contious non inturppeted power.
Got a letter from my docs office stating they were open again and any meds i needed she had the supplies of many and could fill in some of what the pharmcy does not have yet .
Our insurance came and swore our roof was ok even though most of the faciers are missing and there is a gap where the water came in.
I am not sure if we will fight them or not. I figure it is small area that needs taken care of and the flooring is easily dealt with.
We saw more signs of life in our area as more things begin to open. I was albe to get a tank of gas Saturday. First time since the storm!
It was still sureal driving with many traffic lights still out. Some areas severe damage other areas looked just fine ( at least from the front).
The city said it would be a while before street lights would be fixed.
Our area had them working because most were solar powered.
So that is the update . Businesses seem to have work crews getting things fixed it will be a longer time before home owners can. From insurance fighting is it wind/ or water or both ... To finding crews and ligitament businesses to do the repairs........
