Fallout MMO In Development

Interplay has relaunched its company website (http://www.interplay.com/) that notes, among other things, that the company's Fallout MMO is still in development.

Codenamed "Project V13", Interplay has opened an Orange County, CA office for development of the game. It has also hired Chris Taylor, who was part of the original Fallout team, to be the lead system designer for the new game. Taylor joins several other former Fallout development team members who had been hired by Interplay previously.

Though Interplay sold the rights to Fallout to Bethesda last year, it retained the possibility to develop an online Fallout game. Interplay does need to raise at least $30 million in funding for the project before April of 2009, and Bethesda is allowed to keep close tabs on development -- or the company loses the MMO license.

Playing: World of Warcraft.
Played: Lord of the Rings Online, Starwars Galaxies.
Tried: Starwars the Old Republic, Everquest 2, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Age of Conan, Aion.

Very interesting... worth keeping one eye one certainly. A Fallout MMOG would be something that I would love to see happen.

I can't wait to try Fallout 3.  It'll be my first venture into that IP but I do love me a good post-apocalyptic tale

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

There was news about this a few years back including the SEC (i think it was them..) proposal for the game.  If i remember right they wanted to release it around 2010, but this was a few years ago i think.  Don't know if things have changed

I'm so sad that Bethesda is making the game.  I enjoyed the original game, but Bethesda is a different company that makes games differently then Interplay did in the past.  The only thing that the game will likely retain is it's appearance/story.  The gameplay will likely be a lot different if past Bethesda games are any indication.

As for Interplay I'd like to see it, but the company has not been able to produce anything in ages.  Building an MMO requires a lot more then building the orginal Fallout games.  For one thing the game will probably use 3D graphics and for another it will be 1000s of times larger then those games were.

Wonder if Interplay would take donations towards their Fallout MMO?

I'd donate, just to keep it away from Bethesda, SOE, EA and any other screwup.

Yes very good news indeed but i hoped it would eventually be bethesda who develop an fallout mmo.

But ok becouse chris taylor at the helm its also good:)

Chris taylor made games like fallout, Total Annihilation, supreme commander, dungeon siege, space siege and working also on Demigod.

So fallout in good hands i gues.

I only hope it will be a sandbox mmo not some goddamn themepark crap like wow/war/aoc/gw/eq2 and all the other circus attractions out there:P

    Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

Would interplay have to work in conjunction with Bethseda on this game? I love Interplay's stories, gameplay and characters/dialogues, but I also believe that Bethseda makes highly immersive worlds (in b4 Oblivion sucks etc.). I would be great if they are able to use Bethseda's expertise in creating environments (especially the Morrowind one), with Interplay's story and dialogue expertise.

The game isn't released yet.  Your psychic PMS powers are impressive.

From the information released about Fallout 3 (and I have been a fan of Bethesda) it looks like Oblivion with a different wrapper.  I loved Oblivion when first playing it, but grew to realize it didn't have the complexity of  Morrowind, and I missed that.  I'll probably check out Fallout 3, but an MMO based on the IP would be a welcome change from all the WoW clone fantasy mmo's that are being churned out.

Welcome to the Vault! To help us with out with our fight to save humanity we need you to do the following"

    1. Kill 10 uber mutants

    2. Collect 20 rat skins

    3. Kill 10 superior rats

After doing all this come back and see me for some +2 stamina boots.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
