Review from a carebear point of view

Please read the entire review before you rip me a new one :)

First off let me say i have been playing WAR for a few hours a day after work and days off so my highest lvl characters are only lvl 15, I have a destruction char and an order char but am most likly going to just play my warrior priest(order) from now on as am enoying that the most.

I have never been much of a pvp player as the title suggests i am usually a carebear player, pvp has never interested me( my first mmorpg experience was being ganked so i think that got something to do with it) but WAR is changing that i am enjoying the pvp alot.

Graphics.

WAR is no graphics power house, its not got the stupidly high res textures and high end bells and whistles that alot of people like(me included) to show off there high end gaming monster but the first time you take part in a keep battle you will find out why. The art style fits the lore of warhammer very well and is more than adiquate for the needs of the gameplay which is more important than graphic bells and whistles.

UI

I like to have my mmorpg ui's setup like a dashboard, so i was very happy to see the ui is very editable from the outset in WAR, it has its problems like the chat window is very constrained compaired to most other mmorpg's out there, you can not link items to the chat, right click peoples names in it to bring up more options or edit text color or size. The chat functionallity should be expanded on in future patch's though if enough people comment on it and from what i have been reading they are :) . MY biggest annoyance with the ui though is the open group window is attached to the bottom of your char's health bar and as i said i like to have my hp bar just above my hotkeys so the open group popup is in the way sometimes.

PVP

My own experience with pvp so far has been very good from lvl 1 you can jump into the heat of things and start lvling purly from pvp if you wish, personally i like to pvp and pve but the option is there to lvl all the way to max lvl purly off pvp if you so wish. I also like the way coin and random drop items drop off players you or your group kill.

I have just started fighting for the keeps in the game and these battles are brillient my priest is only lvl 15 and to be able to take part in battles with 50+ chars on screen at once at that lvl is something most games reserve for the endgame and this is not even instanced off so anyone can run up and join in the fray, for me its frantic and fun. This is also where open groups come into there own, just run upto the battle click the little icon and find an open spot so you can take a more active role. Its possable to solo in all the fray but you will be far more use and gain more items and exp if you make the most of the open group option.

PVE

For the most part i find the pve pritty much run of the mill it has some new features like the public quests which are very good if you want to be able to take part in big fights but stay solo. The more you do to help out in the pq's the more chance you have of getting a reward, if you win something you usually get the choice of a bit of armour, crafting items or coin.

Ok i got to cut this short as need to get rdy for work but i just wanted to share what i thought of the game at this early stage, as i got to run off i not got time to comment in as much detail as i would like and i had to leave some things out, like the tomb of knowledge which can be daunting with the amount of info it has and the extra options it gives you for stuff to do.
