IAHGames' Granado Espada server merge

Well, the IAHGames version of Granado Espada is finally seeing a server merge. There's only going to be two servers now: one for PK, and the other non-PK. Regarding families of the same name on two servers of the same type (on one account), the lower-level family will be deleted when the servers merge.

So for example, if you own FamilyOne on both Carracci and Pachelbel (both non-PK servers), the weaker FamilyOne will be deleted, which I think is bunk.

What happened during the server merge for Sword of the New World?

Same thing happened, weaker one got deleted.

There's wasn't too much complaining, because not that many people have families on two servers. At least ones that both played a lot.  (since that means you'd have to spend twice the money, yikes, it's already not exactly a cheap game to play)

So is the game losing popularity there?Or some other explanation.

I think the game is designed for a lot more people (at least things like Colony Wars) - on our servers, nothing happens because all the really active players belong to 1-2 clans per server.

But then those same clans hog all the raids. I don't think we have enough channels. (only 2 on Orpesia, 3 on the merged one, Bristia), there should probably be 4 on Orpesia and 6 on Bristia, IMHO.

Yeah, I would assume the server merge is due to a lack of new players. I don't know about SotNW, but for GE, I would say that the game was most popular during beta, and that can't ever be a good sign. I would love to see more active servers (I still have fond memories of watching dozens of characters gradually push back what was literally a sea of monsters in the catacombs and thinking, "Yeah, what now, bitches?"), but how can they delte your weaker families without compensation? Or at least I assume players with overlapping families weren't compensated. What if you spent a sizable amount of money to grow those characters? Couldn't it have been avoided if you just change the family names? It's certainly an item in GE's premium shop and it seems like a sensible enough solution to me. Edit: What about mercenary licenses? If you turn your weaker family into character cards, would this help prevent them from getting deleted?

Yeah, but how many people spent a lot of money on their families on two different servers? I can't imagine it's many.

It does seem odd though, because reading their announcement, it said that people with the same famliy names as someone else (different person) will simply have their families renamed.   As familyname_servername and then given a free family name change item.  I don't know why they couldn't do that for everyone. Guess they want to screw people over.
