Neither are members if the middle class. Obama is from the elite halls of government, McCain, the elite halls of the military.
That being said, being a member of a class has no relevance to understanding what that class needs. Anyone who thinks raising business taxes will help the middle class is out of touch with reality, not just the middle class.
The one thing I noticed is that McCain became noticeably angry as the debate went on. People say that he seemed more experienced - I'd ask if it was because McCain kept pointing to his dicey record and outright insulting Obama or was it due to the lack of poise McCain showed in the face of an intellectual superior? If you have a recording look at McCain facial expression at the beginning of the the debate, somewhere in the middle, and finally in the last 30 minutes. His glossy eyed plastic smile becomes more and more strained.
I will say that after watching the debate on CNN, Republicans sure do love the mere mention of war. I mean the point could be on one thing and McCain somehow shoots off on a tangent with some war story and the Republican line just shoots up. Watching the meters I came to understand how Bush was elected twice. Where I find the fact that McCain is hellbent on mentioning the armed forces in damn near everything he does detestable, apparently it really gathers his party to him.
To the question of Obama and him being nervous. I didn't see that. What I saw was a person trying to be respectful and actually debate topics face to face...with an opponent who seemed to fear eye contact. The respect given to McCain leveled with that of common decency, not weakness. Someone mentioned mannerisms. Throughout the entire debate it seemed Obama was the initiator of social plesantries.

this isnt really directed towards you, just thought I would say I agree with what you say and wanted to elaborate on some things myself:
At the end of the day, the debates are there for people who are on the fence as to what candidate they should choose. McCain did a good job of rallying already decided republicans by bringing up inaccurate figures and putting Obama on the defensive. Obama was able to dispute every claim McCain made showing where his information was incorrect. That snide smile/laugh one moment and the spinning look of sincerety the next made McCain appear deceptive.
So its not a matter of whether or not your candidate said the things the already decided want to hear. This is going to happen regaurdless. Its a matter of whether or not each candidate was able to clearly list out the plans for what they intend to do in the white house as opposed to detract attention from issues by putting the other candidate on the defensive. This is what pulls in new undecided voters.
One thing I should point out, when candidates during debates have a bulleted list of what their plan is, it gives the public something they can relate to. Obama did this several times, in retort McCain only challenged Obamas plan. When he was asked questions first, he fell back on trying to pull heart strings instead of clearly telling us what he plans on doing. The only time I heard him make a direct comment was in cutting out pork. He went so far as to say he would automatically veto anything of this matter, which is very dictatorish and im sure not something somebody sitting on the fence really wants to hear without going into specific details as to what he means by vetoing "everything".
but since so many of you have spare time, take off your your red colored glasses and just google "polls of first debate". You'll find numerous polls claiming who the public felt did a better job. Im sure you'll find a way to spin every one of these into some sort of democrat bias. Bottom line is, im sure you'll find more polls siding with Obama then McCain on the first debate.

Anyone who thinks raising taxes is out of touch with middle class, but anyone who thinks giving tax breaks too the rich has no intention of ever being in touch with the middle class.

But raising taxes is bad for the middle class, and lowering taxes in anyone, whether they be rich or not, is good for the middle class. It has nothing to do with being "in touch" with anyone; just simple understanding of how jobs are created by private business.

From what i understand, the jobs that are being created are being created in India, Taiwan, Singapore and other overseas third world countries.
Explain to me how this create jobs for people in America. That is Obama's stance, he will give tax breaks to companies which ensure their job expansions stay in the country, how anyone is against that is beyond me.
McCains plans are the current plans, and your economy is currently collaposed because of it, it is not working, so why would anyone want to continue trying it.

Obama doesn't know how to create jobs in America; and it is false to assume that if you lower taxes, it LEADS to jobs being created overseas.
The current financial crisis has about as much to do with the last two years of a Democratic Congress as it does with Bush's 8 years -- it's roots lie in the Carter administration, and continue up to the present day. I suggest you actually study the evidence rather than believe as you are told by your authorities. But we seem to have found a pattern here, haven't we?

Obamas plan to lower taxes had nothing to do with creating more jobs, the purpose was to give the people more money in their pocket to bolster teh economy, Obamas plan to create more jobs was too give tax breaks too corperations with the added stipulation that all new jobs they create must be made within the United states, something that McCain is not pushing for.

The pattern is you only believe what you want to believe and that is all I can see. I see all you want to do is trash the party you do not like in a country that is not your own. I on the other hand, freely trash BOTH when I see them both go wrong. Both stink, only the democrats slightly moreso.
Oh, and if you believe that Obama is going to lower taxes, I have some land on Mars up for sale.
Adding to the rocky perception was a McCain campaign web ad released this morning declaring "McCain Wins Debate!" -- put out even before the candidate had announced he was planning to debate.
I must say if by win then cut off Obama and the Moderator from speaking then he sure did win.
I don't think McCain understands anything going on today, he wants to cut taxes and suspend spending and even develop alternative energies and off shore drilling; and build a large amount of nuclear power plants. He doesn't seem to understand that we need to raise taxes (atleast on the "elite" to pay off our debt and lower spending (as opposed to completely stopping it except on veterans (wut?) and defense) and shift our dependence to clean alternative sources of energy. Nuclear power is by no means clean and after the storage facility (anyone know where? was it Ohio?) for nuclear waste was shut down (leaving 23 states without places to store their waste), we would have no place to store the waste from these new plants.
Throughout the debt I could only think of Head of State and Obama being Chris Rock and McCain being the other guy. McCain is like that little kid who says "SHUT UP NO SHUT UP ITS MY TURN TO TALK". I think Obama should have been more defensive instead of just repeating "Thats not true" and actually showed McCain how wrong he is.

Nobody is going to lower taxes, if you have read any of my past posts i dont even believe obama is going to win.
While i defend the points based on their merits teh fact remains, there are more people who vote with their heart then people who vote with their brains.
There are people, who actually agree with Sarah Palin when she says the war was a task charged by God....
There are people who voted for bush because they believe he was chosen by god....
The fact remains, it doesnt matter what facts make logical sense, and what the truth and poltics actually are, we both know, they wont lower taxes we both know the only thing democrates and republicans rotating out of office does is change which coorperations will run the country.
The fact is, i enjoy debating poltics, and i focus on American poltics because well.. its more exciting then canadian politics, we have nothing cool going on, con of a functional government i guess, we have our elections going on as well, and i doubt you could even name our candidates off the top of your head, because nobody cares.
The fact is, i am neither democrate or repbulican, i just choose a side and argue, the problem is i can never choose the repiblcian side... and that is just because... the shit they believe in is so absurd, so fundamentally inept, i cant defend it.
How can you believe in abstance only education?.
How can you be pro life and for the death penaltity?
How can you actually be against gay marriage and then say you have tolrance?
How can you support no child left behind when you know it leaves a lot of children behind?
How can you accept that your leader is a liar, not only accept it, but defend i?
How is it remotely acceptable that your leader spends a trillion dollars in another country, while your country falls apart, still have an insane amount of homeless, terrible healthcare, a huge amount of unemployment and your trying to save the world, while your home is in shambles?
How can you defend the fact that people believe the 10 commandments should be on the courthouse steps, or that god is pro america, or that god is pro war?
How can you defend an administration that is against religious theocracy but fails to admit the fact that while they dont not pray to Allah, they all have a bible in their front pocket.
How can you defend that all discussion of disagreeing with the war as being treasonous, and unpatriotic, but defend a guy who outed a CIA agent for political gain, which is actually a crime punishable by treason
And yeah i know democrates might believe the same things, but the republicans are just way to far out with it.

You want to punish the hands that feed you. Why is it so hard to understand that your employer is only your employer as long as he wants to be. He is not your employer because he has to be. Not in America, yet.
Why stop at 50% of your employers wealth? He will still be wealthy.
Lets take 60%. The wealthy will still be rich. But we can do so much better for everyone as a whole if only the wealthy would pay their fair share at 70%. They will still be rich.......
I think many of you are going to vote your way out of a job. At the same time I think you are going to drive prices so high there won't be enough printing presses to provide the food stamps to feed you. I think the dollar will be worth more to burn for heat then to purchase anything. While some of you won't care because you'll have been stomped and left for dead in an alley near the soup kitchen. But don't worry your representatives will feel your pain.
You don't just kill jobs when you attempt to punish the people that make the world a comfortable place to live. They are the smart people, you know with ideas and ambition. Kill their aspirations and drive to achieve, to invent, and be rewarded for creating the jobs you people are privileged to participate in.
Kill the avenue in which one day, you or your off spring picks yourself up driving your experience and ideas into a fortune.
We can all be better as a whole if we receive your ambitions and hard work and drive to innovate. So we have decided to take 100% for the good of all and in return you will receive just compensation. Have a good day, The People.
It is ironic,
Obama and McCain were both asked, what is your definition of "RICH". One said 250,000 bucks. One said in the millions.
Yet if you are born with a progressive disease that gets worse as time goes by. Maybe you are hit by a truck in your young years. It doesn't much matter how the plight over come you. It doesn't matter at what age it hit you. All you know is you are messed up. It is obvious you are messed up. So you try every vocational program, you goto college, you pull straight A's but when you hit a road block and goto Voc rehab what you hear is "oh you are severe, you will be put on a one year waiting list".
Here you are seeing others, who you perceive as, they could run circles around this college, are at your college boasting VocRehab helped me get a van and on and on and you with straight A's for 2 and a half years needing a graphical computer get the oh you are severe.
So maybe I am. In all honesty I through my hands up. At that time 32 years old. My first work was at 12 years old. No laws preventing youth from working when I was young. I was a hard worker. I had picked cherries apples pears strawberries beans every summer, a dishwasher. I helped log 720 acres of forestry land from the State, for cutting firewood. I had received a degree in auto mechanics after being provided a State waiver to leave high school at the age of 16 and enter College. I took an electronics fabrication course which led me to be the last production and field service employee to be let go by a failing metal detector manufacturer as well a dishwasher. That I accomplished by 18. I did that on my own with muscular dystrophy and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to do so..
So I got worse. I worked until I was 24. Now I'm in a wheel chair. So what. So what? So what you are severe. So what you have good grades. So what you spent 2 and a half years only missing one day in attendance. So what you spent 7 years of your life purchasing 20 acres of land, never missing one payment. Every year disclosing the property on required financial forms. So what you were forced to sell what they knew of all along. So what you must sell for two thirds of what the properties value is. So what if you deprived yourself for 7 years the luxuries in order to make the payments. So what if someone else capitalizes on your determinations. So what you had to pay back 5000 dollars of the fraction you were forced to take even though it was the primary fault of those who are suppose to represent you. So what you have no freedom to pursue anything in life except the freedom to breathe and eat and be the kiosk to the economy. So what if you are responsible and make your own goals become a reality. So what you can save 2200 dollars but if you invest for profit you are 'RICH" if your assets exceed it. So what you can not buy a vehicle worth more than 4400 dollars. So what.
That is their definition of rich. Rich has reached the most defenseless. But its ok we are just leechers. We are getting what we deserve, a check as long as we spend it. Coffee at Starbucks or a closet of unused clothing. It does not matter, just spend it. So what. I am bitter. I hate them, that have legislated me into nothing.. I am near the brink of supporting and campaigning for full out Socialism for the entire Nation out of appreciation for being offered a life of leisure. .. I hope when you receive it you enjoy it as much as I do.

And find, i seen Paulson report, its not his administrations fault, its the fualt of future administrations, those are his words. So lets blame the Democrates as seems to be the norm for all republicans to do.
I am Canadian, who lives outside of the Unisted states, that means i have to do teh most fact finding out of all you, i dont get fed direct information by any party. And the apperent pattern for any problem during the lst 8 years falls on another administration besides the bush.
I see the pattern, but i am on the outside looking in with no personal stake in this, can you see the pattern?
The pattern is you only believe what you want to believe and that is all I can see. I see all you want to do is trash the party you do not like in a country that is not your own. I on the other hand, freely trash BOTH when I see them both go wrong. Both stink, only the democrats slightly moreso.
Oh, and if you believe that Obama is going to lower taxes, I have some land on Mars up for sale.
I'm not a republican, but you have completely mischarcterized what republicans believe. You need to go back and actually read the Republican Party platform, and not what the left wing blogs say.
Take some time. Read. Learn. Grow. Then we can actually debate the issues, not the false issues you have concocted.
It would also serve you better if you knew against whom you were arguing. I'm not a Republican -- I'm not a conservative. I'm pro-Choice, want to legalize drugs and want the patriot act repealed -- just to name three very anti-republican things about me.
I'm leaning towards voting for Bob Barr, as I have said several times here. I would RATHER have McCain than Obama, but only marginally -- only because Obama is the bigger liar. Had McCain been running against Hillary -- I just might feel differently, since I liked Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan were my two favorite presidents (although favorite is a relative term).
When it comes to the middle class debate.. it is pretty cut and dry.
McCain has 13 houses... worth 150million Obama has 1 house, worth 1million
Pretty cut and dry too see who is closer to the middle class.
Neither are members if the middle class. Obama is from the elite halls of government, McCain, the elite halls of the military.
That being said, being a member of a class has no relevance to understanding what that class needs. Anyone who thinks raising business taxes will help the middle class is out of touch with reality, not just the middle class.
All that elite lableing means nothing to the average person, A person running for government office is part of the elite. Fact of the matter is, when people have too choose who they relate too, McCain isnt that person.
I dont care what your personal beliefs are, they arent law. You tell me i am mischaracterizing what the republicans believe, i dont know what the hell that means, either i am wrong or i am not. So you want me to read up on republicans, and you are telling me i am wrong about all the things i said earlier, about the absinance only, the legal gay bashing, no child left behind, their actions in the war?
Fuck that reading up on what they say, it is all about action, dont tell me too read what they stand for, when they have demonstrated what they stand for clearly for the last 8 years, and dont try to pretend they havent.
You have this way of saying aboslutly nothing and being condescending at the same time when you dont want to argue facts with me, this is thread number 3 now you have taken this route of arguement. You tell me i am wrong but you never actually put up a counter arguement.
You are telling me to read up on who i am argueing against, just point out one, just one of those statments i was wrong about.
You may want to legalize drugs, rescend the patriot act, and all sorts of other things but it doesnt change the fact, that the way things are now, are because of the republicans currently in office. So when you tell me i am "mischaracterizing" them, i say to you, take your head out of the sand.
8 years, that is how long it took this administration to run your country into the ground, even republicans dont want to associate themselves with bush anymore, so just because their 2008 election battleplan has been reviesed, it doesnt change the fact that their original views are the reason your country is in the economic and social shithole it is in now..
I dont care who you are voting for, you say you arent a republican, fine, you just play one part time on the weekends and forums. Obama is a liar, McCain is right, I am wrong, republicans are not evil, prove your point, make a valid arguement. You have yet to do that, or even prove that you know how.
My earlier thread, the one you quoted, made a lot of valid points about the party you told me too read up on, points you choose to willfully ignore in order to "teach" me how to argue, Disprove them, if you can. You tell me i concocted all my statements, prove it. I know you cant, but it will be rather interesting to watch you try.

I know you cant, but it will be rather interesting to watch you try.
there you go again....once again you lose all reason. You're simply not making any sense again. You really need to slow down, take a break, and read what you write.
It is impossible to discuss things with someone whose statements are so far removed from reality.
I said this before in the other thread before it was deleted, you are simply a troll. This discussion serve no purpose.
First, you lose coherence. Then comes the namecalling. You are right. Discussion with you serves no purpose. On that we can agree,
When it comes to the middle class debate.. it is pretty cut and dry.
McCain has 13 houses... worth 150million Obama has 1 house, worth 1million

Well, I wouldn't call him a kid, even though I am old enough to be his father. I just don't believe youth and inexperience should be an issue. If one has a reasonable argument, age matters not. If one spews forth incoherent statements, then follows it up by calling people names -- then one steps out of the bounds of serious discussion and entered into childish e-peen wars.

I said you mischarterized the republican party, which you did. I kindly provided you their platform, and you said you didn't need to read that you KNOW the truth. I didn't say you didn't know what you were talking about, but that your position doesn't make any sense, since it has nothing to do with reality. Your view on things is more important than the actual facts? Okayyyyy.
Then you shifted, as you have done before, to namecalling.

When it comes to the middle class debate.. it is pretty cut and dry.
McCain has 13 houses... worth 150million
Obama has 1 house, worth 1million
Pretty cut and dry too see who is closer to the middle class.

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a robot foot stomping on a human face -- forever."
Just out of curiosity, I searched McCain wins debate.
It would appear the McCain camps premature release of their post-debate announcement has backfired.

While i defend the points based on their merits teh fact remains, there are more people who vote with their heart then people who vote with their brains.
There are people, who actually agree with Sarah Palin when she says the war was a task charged by God....
There are people who voted for bush because they believe he was chosen by god....

The fact is, i enjoy debating poltics, and i focus on American poltics because well.. its more exciting then canadian politics, we have nothing cool going on, con of a functional government i guess, we have our elections going on as well, and i doubt you could even name our candidates off the top of your head, because nobody cares.

I'm not a republican, but you have completely mischarcterized what republicans believe. You need to go back and actually read the Republican Party platform, and not what the left wing blogs say.

I'm not a republican, but you have completely mischarcterized what republicans believe. You need to go back and actually read the Republican Party platform, and not what the left wing blogs say.
www.gop.com/2008Platform/
I know you cant, but it will be rather interesting to watch you try.
there you go again....once again you lose all reason.
