Question about mages in WotLK pvp

For those who play mages, and have played a mage in WotLK, do you think summons will be as important for mage pvp?

I mean... THE pvp build, last time I checked was frost.   I don't recall seeing any viable frost builds that didn't make heavy use of the water elemental.

I really, really, hate the idea of having a summon/pet/whatever to manage.  I quit playing because of this. (Blizzard... if i wanted a summon I would play a warlock)  But having tried the "other" game out there right now, I still favor this game.
