Should WAR allow account sales?

Always a hot topic in MMO's. What is your opinion on allowing account sales. Should it be allowed or not allowed. Can it actually be stopped if you don't allow it, does it matter?

What are your opinions on this point? :)

Item mall? Are you kidding me? That would mean people that pays more than the monthly fees get and advantage while those who don't do not. Item malls belongs in "free" to play MMORPGs, as that's the way companies earn money from them.

This is the best signature ever. Well, it is really up to you to decide. :x

Item mall, I lol'd. Item malls only belong in f2p mmorpgs.

With that said, I think they should be allowed. People will sell regardless. You can change ALL of your information pretty much on your account....soo therefore perfect conditions for selling eventually.

    Not allowed.

In fact, if someone sells there account, they should be banned from playing any mmorpg for the rest of their life and forced to wear socks made out of giraffe intestine.

    Doesn't matter

no one will buy a war account of ebay anyways....

Sure, as long as Mythic sets up a secure system of transferring the account that includes a handling fee that the player must pay them for doing so. (20 bucks I'm thinking).

I can't believe there are people that can't see the irony in the item mall post.

my opinion is that people who buy accounts are just as bad as ppl who buy gold from those spambots, may they burn in hell :)

really, whats the point of buying a acc, arent u supposed to learn the game from lvl 1 and enjoy lvling always trying hard to reach that lvl with new skills/stats etc. so that u can have the feeling u really accomplished something?

    MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

Well, the issue suddenly has become a real one if this print of someone turns out to be a real copy from the eula (if someone here can confirm)

"TRANSFER OF RIGHTS (As in the EUALA)

You shall be permitted to transfer once to another person eligible to obtain an Account your right to access and use your account (but not items, characters and attributes separate from the Account), on the following terms and conditions:

You may not offer to transfer the rights to any Account(s) except your own, or act as a "broker" or intermediary (for compensation or otherwise) for any others wishing to transfer or obtain accounts. You may not transfer the rights to your Account to any entity or person ineligible to have an account under the terms and conditions of the EUALA. You may not transfer rights to any Account which contains characters who attributes are, in whole or in part, developed, or which contains items, objects, or currency obtained or acquired, in violation of the terms of the EUALA. The transferee must obtain all rights to your Account in a single transaction, and you must retain absolutely no rights or controls over the Account, or the characters, items, and attributes associated with that Account. You must physically deliver the CD-ROM, and all it's original packaging, documentation (including the keycode on the jewel case) associated with the Account, and keep no part of such materials or any copies thereof. You must deliver to the transferee your secret word, password, account name and all information regarding your account other than personal billing information such as credit card, Pay-by-Cash information, billing information, etc. You must deliver to the transferee a copy of the EUALA then in effect, and the transferee must, as a condition of accessing the System through the transferred Account, agree to be bound by all the terms and conditions of the EUALA.

You must notify Mythic, via electronic mail to transfers@warhammeronline.com, not later than 3 days after concluding the sale that you have transferred the Account, include in your notice the following: your true name and current mailing and email address, login name and player name associated with the Account; the true name and current mailing and email addresses of the transferor (you) and the transferee, and the following statement: " I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT, ON (insert date here) I TRANSFERRED ALL MY RIGHTS TO ACCESS AND USE THE WARHAMMER ONLINE ACCOUNT IDENTIFIED ABOVE, TO THE PERSON IDENTIFIED ABOVE, AND THAT SUCH A TRANSFER COMPLIES WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING ACCOUNT RIGHTS TRANSFERS, AS SET FORTH IN THE CURRENT VERSION OF WARHAMMER ONLINE END USER ACCESS AND LICENSE AGREEMENT, WHICH I FURTHER CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ AND DELIVERED TO THE TRANSFEREE." The subject field of the email must contain only the name of the account that is being transferred. Mythic assumes no obligations or responsibility for any misspelling or typographical errors on your part."

and there after it says Mythic is not responsible for any refunds and that you may be charged for billing at the end of the month depending on when you sent out the email stating you were transferring your account. Any transfer/attempted transfer not in accordance will be considered null and void and not binding by Mythic. "

So basically, *yes* WAR perfectly allows people to sell their account, as long as they tell Mythic about it.

This should provide some interesting new situations :)

I would but I can't, that's why i asked if someone can confirm, I'm not playing any MMO's right now, just loosely following them. Otherwise I'd ask where Item X was for Quest Y lol, not something as global as this xD

So, can you C/P the real one then? :)

Why would anyone buy an account in the first place? It doesn't make sense. Why pay for a product that someone else has already experienced everything. The game is the whole experience. Why not just pick up a a first person shooter if that is the type of game you would like to play.

Lastly, the MMORPGs that are out now are too short as is for being an online persistant world. Who in their right mind would pay money for someone else to play a few weeks worth of content.

  • PheacePheace Member Posts: 2,408

So... can anyone copy paste the *real* section  in the EUla or at least add to confirmation or deny the truth of the above? :)

    image

  • gan3fgan3f Member UncommonPosts: 274

i will just say there is 2 sections that i skimmed thru  in the EULA that state you will not trade sell or exchange accounts, items or currancy, or buy or pretty much even look in the general direction of someone doing such act.

you cant copy paste it and iam not going to waste that amount of time writing it all out here.. maybe you will find it online with any luck.
