Acclaim Games announced the official launch date for the North American version of The Chronicles of Spellborn which is scheduled for release on November 27, 2008. The North American version of Spellborn will be commercialized as a free-to-play game with an optional premium service to access further content and gameplay.
As with all of Acclaim’s games, Spellborn will be free to download and play once players have registered for an account. But those players who want to access advanced features and unlock extra game content will have the option to purchase a premium service that will offer several payment options.
Is this a good news?...

thought this game would go p2p since it seems promising, f2p is good cause u can always try the game out when u want to.. on the other hand i fear bad customer support / inbalance cause of the premium service..
MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
Quite a few people are awaiting clarification on the main forums for exactly what they mean by this announcement. If it is like say Hellgate london, then this game is unthoughtuantly doomed before it even launches. Majority of western gamers just hate Free2play games, and its justified they have terrible support and tend to be over run with bots, gold farmers, and a terrible community in general.
Atleast we dont have to worry about an itemshop ruining the game since stats dont matter, but it is still very open to the other problems.
I still don't understand how this will work,I mean it will be like guild wars or to unlock the premium version you need to pay a monthly fee..
Can anybody explain alittle in detail?
All we know so far is that originally it was going to be the starting zone which would of taken you to level 10. After that you need to pay a subscription to see the rest of the game.
But the latest announcement seems to imply otherwise, hence why people are waiting for clarification.
this is the link to the article btw, its most likely where they will clarify it:
