The scroll of vortex is a very useful scroll in battles. It damages all the enemies. Most of you give it to your primary heroes. You may be holding the potentials of the scroll. Try unstacking it, and distribute it to your mercenaries. You can activate all the scrolls at the same time. To unstuck an item: Hold shift then click on the desired item you want to unstack.

yeah, i got it from a quest. tried using that with a mob of monsters. there are other scrolls other than this.

Great! Thanks for the tip Indeed the scroll of vortex is a very powerful item and can be very useful to new players cause it has AoE effect, damage spreads out to the field. But the only downside in it is that it takes too long too cast (about 2 turns if i'm not mistaken) so the caster should be a the mercs in the front liine or your caster from the 3rd row so that monsters can't reach them. (except for bosses who can move to any tile they want LOL) cheers!
