Questions about skills vs normal attacks

I search some posts and i cant find topics regarding this one... Based on my observations, normal attacks caused more damage on monster compare to skill attack.. pls clarify me on this one.. thanks

Initially your normal attack do more damage than skills, but as you gplay on you will need to upgrade those skills using skill scrolls. If your skill reaches 60/60 , then you would be in doubt to say that normal attacks do more damage.

i barely figured out this one. normal attack of my gunner is stronger than its wild shot. i really have no idea, but i only use the skill of my merc, which is fairly strong. i guess the only difference is it can apply some skill effects and it will never miss.
