Why isn't anyone talking about this game? It has a release date for november which is comming up quickly. It looks pretty interesting to me, from what I've seen on youtube and read about the game. Is it because it's an Asian game? Certainly doesn't have the look of a typical asian grindfest game. Looks like a fairly good MMO to me, has real time combat and some other pretty cool features.
Am I the only one interested in this game?

I'm excited for it. I'm not sure if I'll play it on release...as there are many games I'm in the mood to try...but who knows!
Glad they're offering a trial from the start.
Since the starter zone is free I'll be checking it out, but to be honest I haven't really looked into it at all yet. Everyone else here is too busy hyping and bashing the same 3 or 4 games that they always talk about and anything else gets over looked so I'm glad you posted this and got my attention.
its not an asian game, and im lookin forward to it too
{ Mod Edit }
Lol go first learn what game is about and who have made it sorry but you made a fool of yourself by saying its an asian mmo:P
Its a mmo made in THE NETHERLANDS so not a asian mmo:D
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
That is the first time I've every seen TCoS called asian
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Since cronicles of spellborn has manual combat system like df will i ll get it when it releases ...all is about fun and gameplay ..and i m sick of wow+war combat system

OMG I'm sooo foolish! I feel so stupid for making such a huge mistake. I should be put to death!! I actually just read a post on the official forums by someone that said it was an asian MMO. Obviously they were misinformed which made me wrong but for god sakes grow the fuck up.
Kind of sucks you have to worry about either a really immature person or some kid insulting you every time you make a post on this forum.
It lost a lot of hype when the developers decided to heavily instance the game.
Although the game isn't heavily instanced and the comment was clearly misunderstood. There are a lot of misunderstandings about this game and I think thats a big reason it isn't being talked about as much.
I wonder if the main reason that this game has received very little hype lately may have something to do with the fact that NOT ONE PERSON knows one other person that may know another person that can say that they actually tried the game first hand either via beta or sat in a studio or whatever and seen the game being actually played "LIVE"!! I have many and I mean many friends who play MMOS, in NA, Asia and all over Europe of many different languages and backgrounds and NOT one of them can actually say that they know someone who has tried it out!
So maybe just maybe the day that we hear first hand from a "player" that has played the game and tells us about it, maybe just then, will the hype go up? Or go down, hence why we have never heard first hand from an actual player.................sorry gang for being negative but I believe that reviews posted by players out-weight paid game reviewers by a long shot!
Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!
There are litarally hundreds of videos of people playtesting this game. Go to youtube type TCOS. Ta da, people playtesting the game. There are a lot of previews from well known sites where they have played the game (no they are not paid, I really dont see how anyone would think that about most games let alone a game from a unknown developer). This isn't Darkfall people have played the game.
The only reason that this game has no hype is because it is a unknown developer, with very little marketing outside of niche sites. And even in those sites such as MMORPG.com it is overshadowed by big name mmos.
It is basically set to release during the same period as AoC, which was hyped up a lot, War, same again, the WoW expansion, Lotro expansion, and Aion. It is not really surprising it has been completly overlooked.
If this game is good it will speak for itself, if it isnt oh well, there will be other mmos.
edit: I dont blame you for being pessimistic, who wouldnt be with the amount of overhyped games that turn out to be crap lately.
Alright my friend I stand Corrected on seeing the 7 or 8 youtube videos posted there but they all looked staged to me! I do not see that mass of 4 or 5 "real life" players actually playing the game fighting a mob or so on.....Now link me the correct link that shows real people playing the game. And of course we see max 2 or 3 live toons the entire footage?? I wonder?
I have seen my worth of betas and game testing but this game to me seems absent of any real players actually testing it.......I am friends with a very large European Guild that have close to 500 members that play various games and not one person out of all those people can claim they know anyone who has actually played the game......So this is where I post my concerns with! All I want is to hear from an actual player that has tested, played or whatever with this game.......Come on it has been more then 3 or 4 years since this has been announced and yet no one seems to know anyone who blah blah blah..........
I want this game to succeed, but I also have been burned by games like D & L and AoC lately and we were all warned of the crapiness well in advance (wether we listened or not is another story?) but The Chronicles of Spellborn seems to be so "vapourish" to me as we have no confirmation of any real life players (not Devs) actually playing....and forget the NDA with this as some "supposively" videos of people playing the game are on youtube...who are these people? No one seems to know..........
But I do want this game to succeed, just don't want to be burned again and this time without any warning......
Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!
The videos are not staged. There are plenty of people beta testing, they are just respecting the NDA. Trust me.....

Alright! I will give you the benefit of the doubt here my Friend! Funny how tight they are about the NDA when no matter what major MMO or game that others are beta testing and also have an NDA to abide by seem to always have some slip ups.......the power to them then.....I just want to hear some first hand feedback from an actual player is all I am asking for................but I do understand...........and you must understand my doubtfuless as well.............I am willing to give it a chance though..........Actually we can also say the same about Darkfall.........LOL!
Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!
It's still in Closed Beta. They are VERY picky when it comes to choosing testers and strict with the NDA - as it should be. So I see no cause for concern.
Is hard to me to belive this game is gonna be released on the date the posted.
A mmo wich the combat aim to be revolutionary, and a few months ago ...... cant say more, you`ll find out, but not soon.
well i played the game a year and a half ago at an even in The Netherlands, combat was really nice, was constantly on the move and was killing German Press people in no time
About the instancing, some people have misunderstood it, it seems. This is how it works:
You'll have several instanced dungeons like you have in almost every current MMORPG, and the normal zones won't be instanced UNTIL it becomes too crowded. Then the game will make a copy of the zone too balance the load, but from what i've heard. The load balancing has been quite positive and the chance that a zone will get a duplicate because of too many players is almost zero to none.

ARG! That sounds like AoC style. And thats never a good sign.
You may not know this, since such features probably weren't in the game a year and half ago, but is it possible for players to build in these zones? As I understtod the system in AoC, players could build player cities but they would be located in certain numbered instances of a given zone. So there might be a lot of player cities all located in the same spot in the same zone, but each one would be in a different numbered instance of that zone. You know what I mean? Do you think TCoS would do something similar, to a point where a guild might own a city but that city would be located in instance #43 of whatever zone it is located in?

its not really aoc, more the ao system. in aoc everything is instanced, even the cities. in tcos (and ao) only some dungeons will make a copy of themselves when they get too crowded, so u dont have to camp a boss with 50 other ppl at the same time (not entirely sure if its only dungeons tho)
btw this system is used by many other mmos so i wouldnt call it heavily instanced. the reason ppl dont talk about it is cause the devs aint hyping it up, mayb they should go in dev for another 7 years to get a loyal following :P
MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)
the underdog!
Ah, so its not like AoC then. That other guy made it sound like it was when he said "zones" instead of dungeons.
If its only the dungeons, then I'm okay with it.

there was a big debate about instancing on the official forum, from what i remember they ended up that only dungeons are instanced (not sure tho).
whatever the instanced will be ill still play that awesome game
The combat system is way more intresting in anything I seen in a MMO. While the game is not so hyped as many other MMOs I see this as a good thing, Guildwars wasn't hyped either and it sold better than anything 'cept Wow.
Actually there is a high possibility that Spellborn will be the big game coming out of this year, AoC fell down quite a lot and WAR don't seems to be going straight to the top either.
Spellborn combines good graphics and cool combat and if the players can handle the combat then this game might be big.
I also looking forward to the soundtrack of this one, rumour say that dutch band "Within Temptation" is involved (found out about the game a few years ago in a flyer I got in an WT album).
We really need a new MMO that is not a Wow/EQ clone and this is one of those few.
no within temptation did not make the soundtrack, they just advertise that game with their one song the howl or something like that.
I am waiting for this game anxiously.
I really hope it stands out.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
