The guild im in uses a tithe so each person can set their own taxes. I find most people use 5-7%. It builds quickly with a guild of hundreds of people. A smaller guild may want to opt for a higher percentage.
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a robot foot stomping on a human face -- forever."
Far starting guilds, with low level players (IE, not in T2 or above), 10% is adequate. However, this will need to be adjusted. Once you hit T3, you're getting about 1 silver or more per kill. Gold is easy to get in this game, and there is honestly little to spend it on.
50% is good for a T3 guild. This helps maintain a good enough gold level for the guild to purchase standards and keep "rent" in the bank for when you get a keep at Guild Rank 14.
I thought it was going to be excessive. My guild originally had a Tax Rate of 10%. We were discussing increasing that to 50%. For a few hours, while they were waiting to talk with the other officers, I was 10% base (required) and a 40% tithe. It isn't bad.
I honestly wish there was functionality to base the tax rate off of the level of the person. Think of it as tax brackets, the more you make, the more you pay. Thus, the higher levle you are, the more you pay.

high guild taxes are the way to go if your guild plans to claim a keep for extended periods of time. Once you get to rank 20 or so looted items sell for some decent pocket change and you really won't need the coin drop after you buy a mount and last name =p
We not claiming keeps in our guild now. we collecting our gold atm to have a lil stockpile. Making sure everyone gets a level 40 char, some people are working on having 2 40ies quite fast so they can rotate after what is needed. (Crazy in my opinion!)
Don't try to convice them to raise the tax and pay for the keep. They will realise their mistake too late and we will have more keep for us. One day you will see the light and understand that you can not catch up on us, because we already have our tax to 100%.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
If you raise taxes on your guild and the high ranking members get richer and it sends your guild crashing. Don't worry the Senate and Congress will just add another 150 billion to the BS Plane er I mean Bailout plan for your guild and others guilds too.

I am writing an angry letter to the congress as we speak! Bail me out, pay for my pimped out mount and my pimped out guildhouse, and for the 20 keeps our guild are holding! PAY UP CONGRESS!
Sadly most MMO players are very greedy, unless you have been playing with a group of people for a while they will not understand the need to contribute towards a greater goal.
got the title, "the regal" at level 12, but im a AH addict so. But donated a 100g to the guild, as they are good suppliers and friends when it comes to craft mats.
wierd that so many vote so low %, but it seems guilds need atleast 50% if they want to take keeps.
I voted low when this thread was first started but now that I understand just how expensive it is to hold keeps and that the taxes are only taken from looted mobs I would vote at 50%.
Our guild has our tax set to 50% and most members have their tithes higher than that.

That is probably the cause why people voted low in this thread, as they did not know much about taxes and how it works. Good point friend. Thanks for enlightening us with your own change

Yeah it costs alot of Gold to keep a keep. =P so guildies need to PAY UP!!
trying to find a page with info on the keep costs and such, but cannot find any.
anyone have any info on this or can give a link to a site that has info on keep costs?
thanks in advance.

we just gonna keep it at a low % and perhaps start saving up later on when we want to hold keeps.
we trying 100% atm, working nicely as people get money from other places to cover their crafting and the likes.
There can be only one
We waiting til most ppl hit 40, then we doing 100% guildtax we decided last night.
The tank that is born to tank!
25g/week for 40s. 10g/week for everyone else.
T4 keeps are rather expansive, and we would have to pay 50g each to keep one for one week straight in my guild with 70 members.
0% ingame tax.
keeps are really expensive, we had our tax on 10% till now, but we raised it to 50% last night as we took a keep.
Anyone have a list on the prices for the keeps per day or week?
And sorry to be a nub, but what is the gain for your guild to hold a keep?
thanks

Money is not really an object right now in the game. At level 29 I have 93 GP.

have tax at 100%, but its only us in the family in the guild so nobody complains
