Starting the game now?

Hi,

I'm a WoW player and I have been for a while now.  Pretty much I started playing WoW because a friend got me into it.  I had never really had an interest in playing PC games before that,  I was more into console gaming.  Well he opened up the wide world of MMO gaming to me and I have barely touched my console since then.

I got hooked on WoW but eventually got bored of it after pretty much completing most of the endgame except the newest stuff like sunwell.  Anyways I'm bored of the game and I was never really able to try out any other MMORPG's because my PC is a peice of junk.  A day from today that will all change.  My custom built PC will arrive tomorrow and I'm trying to decide if I want to give EQ2 a serious shot.

I already know I like the game.  I downloaded the trial thing on my current PC and really liked the gameplay and all.  The problem was my PC is so bad I had to turn down all the graphics settings and it was pretty much unplayable.  However I was able to get a since of the gameplay , enviroments etc so I already know I like the game.

One thing I did notice was there weren't many people playing that were my level, or there weren't many newer players to do quests with etc.  I would love to make EQ2 my new game but I want to have fun leveing up.  I don't want it to be a struggle all the time to find a group and to complete quests and all that.  Leveing up in an MMORPG in my opinion should be the funnest part of the game.  Yeah endgame should be very rewarding as well but it shouldn't be a stuggle just to get to the endgame.

So what do you all think?  Is it worth it for a new player to try to get into the game?  I'm looking at this game and AOC, but we all know about all the problems AOC is having but obviously I want a newer MMO to play on my brand new PC.If any of you are going to suggest WAR forget about it.  I played war for about 6 hours or my friends computer and just couldn't get into it.  I tried really hard to like the game but something just didn't feel right about it.  THe PQ's and all the new neat little features are nice but the game just didn't grab a hold of me.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is worth it imo.

well the most thing you are worried about is finding parties at lower levels, shouldn't worry to mush as its server dependent. Antonia Bayle and Nagafen are the most populated servers so you should not have any trouble finding parties at lower levels, Also there is a new update coming out which increases levelling speed allot. it should now take about 100hours to get from 20-70 rather than 250hours, and at 70 you should not have any trouble finding a party on any of the servers.

Absolutly, just play on a populated server like Antonia Bayle, lots of peoples constanttly rerolling.   I just came back to the game a few days ago after almost a year in WOW and i forget how fun is EQ2.   One thing i like the most about this game is the economy.  Even as a newbie you can make good money harvesting and collecting shinies (some are worth several gold).

Also lots of people with roleplay on (purple names) that ignore you even when you ask a question cause you're a new player and don't know anything about the game. I hate roleplay servers.

I have partying problems on the EU servers but soloing has become so viable that I wouldn't worry about it until you reach DoF

Something that might play into your decision is the fact that the new expansion is slated for release on 11.18.08 and it will include the basic game and all of the expansions up until the present time. You may consider waiting a few weeks and buying the expansion. In the meantime, play the demo.

    Good luck!
