so i have been watching this game for like 4 years and now it will be out soon but i seems kinda dated, how do you guys think it will compare to aion or WAR?
In all honesty it boils down to taste. I have no interest in War and little to non in Aion. Overall I realy like what DarkFall seems to have to offer. Secondly out of the 3 choices only DarkFall is a sandbox and I am very partial to sandbox MMO's lol.

Since you've been following it for four years, I can assume that by "dated" you are not talking about the overall concept or gameplay style they are going for. So, I'll assume you mean graphics...
I'll let you decided which is dated, if either. All of those shots are .jpg, so all recieved some loss in compression and all will look better in game. However, since all are .jpg, all should have recieved the same degree of loss.

Me and my HD 4870x2 is going to have some graphic orgy in Aion when its out.

Actually, you should let Spellborn and Guildwars 2 into that poll. Spellborn is releasing before Aion and Darkfall and looks very promising and Guildwars 2 should be releasing sometimes next year and have at least as nice graphics as those 3 games.
WAR is not a bad game but I don'treally think it have enough of time sinks in it to last... The reason Wow has lasted so long is raiding, WAR will have RvR instead and I don't really think it's enough to hold most players interest for years... It will surely have a hardcore fan collection but I don't see millions of players. Too much of a nishe game to be really great. What gave wow 10 mils players is that there is lot for everyone in it.
Aion and Darkfall looks promising, but if I must guess I would say Aion because I never seen anything the DF team has made before and a video and a few screens ain't enough. I didn't vote though. And one of the devs seems to worked at Enron before, or at least someone said that in an earlier thread, not a good sign. Still I try to be open and hope for the best.
Spellborn seems a lot more intresting to me, I have seen a lot of videos and shots of it and read the forum, really cool new combat system and a complete different look than everthing I seen before.
And Guildwars 2 looks awesome and have the currently best dev team in the world, those guys are amazing with coding. No monthly fees, fantastic coding and awesome graphics together with an open world will make a fantastic game.

Timesinks is something uninspired designers use, when they are not creative enough to put real content in.
DF is an example of good game design, because it substitutes grind/timesinks with player conflict
Instead of playing the same repetitive battleground 15 hours per day for 3 months in a row in order to get the current season pvp gear, you will be fighting with your guild for your city, protection the land around, defending mines and other ressources from enemy raid-groups, maybe if you are courageous, you strike fear into your enemies by attacking their positions, maybe even taking over their city with the help from your allies.
You do politics to strengthen your position, trading to gain the upper hand in the war, money can buy you better equipment, and can hire merc armies to help you in the war.... etc etc.

I have just been reading on the WAR forums that on one server they have already sacked the endgame city.
Apparently the other side did nothing to stop them.
Makes me wonder what this game is going to turn into.
It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of WAR players decide to not defend so that they get a faster server reset.
I may have this wrong but defending in WAR seems to only prolong your wait to get to the enemy city yourself in comparison to doing nothing. Loot whores would be better off letting the enemy sack their own city so the battlefront resets back to the middle.
Maybe I am not understanding how it works, but if it is like that then it's gonna be a win trading fest at end game.
That's the problem with such carebear pvp systems, where is the incentive to not lose?

First of all my background in games. I started with EQ (4+ years) and have played DAOC, EQ2, WoW, CoH, Horizons, Lineage 2 and Lotr a much lesser amount of time then EQ.
I really loved EQ and no game has made me want to continue to play since i finally gave it up.
I really hate when people lump EQ and WoW together because they are not even close to the same game.
EQ may be level/Class based and may not be a sandbox in the sense that UO was but it was far more sandbox then any PVE game that has come since then.
What i loved about EQ are all the "timesinks" that others on the site hate. I liked that i had to go buy spells and mem them, i liked having to have spell components in order to cast some spells, i even liked that you had to have food and drink. EQ made you actually play your character not just run around killing stuff. I even had no problem with long travel, lost exp and corpse runs.
So my question is, is Darkfall going to offer me the ability to play my character again or is it just another log on and go kill stuff. No going to trainers, Spells popping up as soon as you are able to use them. etc etc.
I know its skill based and i know its PVP, neither of which i have been a huge fan of, but if it gives me the ability to actually Play my character again i will seriously give it a look.

Aion just isnt my style and (forgive me if im wrong because im not interested in the game) it is quite unoriginal when it comes to most of its features and it is another themepark mmorpg. I hoped that WAR would be a fun game but also realized it is a bit less of a virtual world and more of just a competative game (ofcourse its very pvp orientated) for people who are used to the usual style and concept of themepark mmorpg's.
Darkfall should, in theory, be fresh air and i just hope there isnt a waft of bad odour every now and then. It seems to me so far though that the air is pretty clean.

NC soft got the funds for it and i'm sure they have experimented enough to see what works and what doesn't to know where to go with Aion, not to mention the fact that the Beta testers seem very happy about the game in general.
Can't speak much fore Darkfall but i hope it does a good hit, especially since it's "sand box". But i'm no DF fan, so i'll only watch that game from the sidelines.
And for those hateful people, i hope devs will never listen to them, they are the common reason why games fail, if not many people like the game, then the company won't have enough funds for the good content upgrades and improve servers over time ect. Remember that please, as silly it might sound.

I absolutely know that Darfall is a sandbox game that is build for PVP. And in now way would i want to change that just because i dont have that background.
What im asking is if it has these other things that are missing from the newer games that i want and if so then i may be switching over to a sandbox PVP game.

try it safwd, only advice i can give you. try it with an open mind... give it at least 3-4 weeks worth before you judge it.
the games you list you have played are quite different. If we have to compare DF to previous mmorpgs, it is probably has most similarities with UO, AC/DT, and SB.
Well... they are totally different games then "which one will be better?" is a question that is going to be answered according the play style preferences of the players not according the game itself.

DF is a completely different game than those WoW clones, can't really be compared.
Aion is an anime themed mmorpg with emo guys that look like girls and girls with big boobs for the teenagers. Pfft..
Warhammer is a decent game, but it's still the same old EQ/WOW spreadsheet game.

Best games I ever played certainly didn't have good graphics, but many of the shittiest games I ever laid my hands on had.

Aion will be a solid game without a doubt, NCsoft usually knows how to make a decent game.
But it wont be close to Darkfall. Im sorry Aion fans... I watched videos of both.. and the possibilities are endless in Darkfall.
