I tried to explain the idea behind several senario in WAR to the missus; unfortunately she is fixiated with: "see someone, nuke'me till either they die or she dies".
Fortunately someone has posted an explaination, since it seems she is not the only person afflicted with this thinking.

A good read.
Basically, it's the old chess problem. New players tend to lose focus. To win at chess all you need to do is checkmate the King. You can do that without taking a single piece.
But, how many games have you played where you spent all your time trying to capture the enemy Queen and destroy the entire enemy army?
So, why?
Probably because it's fun. And there's the issue really.
Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.
I've thought that sometimes too, maybe a deathmatch scenario would be fun
