Most Diverse Career

Ok so have just got my warhammer and been looking at the different type of toons you can have. I'm leaning towards destructions atm but looking for the most complex and diverse career possible as I loved playing a bard in everquest 1 and haven't really found a toon I loved so much as him.

Been thinking about a zealot but not 100% sure

Any thoughts ?

Well if you are looking for a career with a lot to do I suggest Engineer. They are underpowered right now but I think they will address that soon. Lots of options though. have a bar and a half of hot keys already and im only lvl 11.

Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.

I think they are quite ok to be honest. But the problem is that playing engineer doesnt FEEL right.

Playing grenadier never makes you feel like a explosive maniac since most grenades are DOT's! It's quite horrible to be honest. You really look for that KA-BOOM effect but just can't find it.

Playing a rifleman feels SOO slow and uninteractive... it's not fun at all.

I guess the only career mastery line they got somewhat right is the Tinkerer. Blunderbuss blast is a killer and all the "wards" you put out are really good aswell.

Engineers are not underpowered.  People just need to learn how to play their toons.  I believe all the classes are well balanced.

Quite silly statement that people need to learn to play their toons.

If someone is unhappy with a class it's 90% of the cases that the class was a dissapointment because it didn't deliver what it promised in advance.

I picked an engineer because they looked like fearsome killers. They'r not, in any way killers. Looking at the opening cinematic and reading the class description on the main site tells elsewise though.

So what to expect when you start one? To kill, which it doesn't.

You kinda expect from a warhammer game that every class should have  a chance to kick one another's butt. Thus that isn't this games mechanic in any way. Quite dissapointing I must say, however it's so fun when you have a group vs. another group that you forget about it.

Yeah. You tell those Magus and Engineers that their DoTs ticking for 10 damage isn't a problem with the class itself, but with the player.

Well maybe you should try them out instead of believing, some classes in this game are horrible balanced.

I have a level 20 engineer and can stand with the best.  A silly statement??  One of the biggest problems with most mmo's is that people do not know how to play their toon.

What do you mean with "can stand with the best", just in the charts dmg wise or really in a fight ? Most engineers just do their aoe dmg/ support dmg but struggle to take down any class in tier2, at least what i did see so far.

One shadow warrior in our guild, which is a long range dmg class, did loose to a chosen in a long range combat with his axe throw skill...both same lvl equal equipped..well seriously, there are some points in pvp which needs be balanced more. I saw chosen who just did use their axe throw skill in battles lol.

As complex as any pure healer class can be. If you want to play a healer class with more depth try a Shaman or Archmage.

Too squishy at 40, especially the Archmage.

  • Most diverse is probably shadow warrior.  Most complex not too sure kind of depends.

I recommend Disciple of Khaine/Warrior Priest.  They are both demanding classes, requiring you to pay alot of attention to everything going on around you, and they are both pretty darn tough, too.

Most complex classes in order tha tI experience.

    1.  Squig Herder:  Honestly I thought this was your typical pet tank and spank class.  Its not.  You must truly use your squigs special abilities to pump out damage and survive the battle.

Their career masteries add the most variety of any class.  Sniper, run and gun, or melee.  When you play a squig herder you will most likely choose 2 of these feats for your playstyle.

Styles of play range from,,,,god konws.  There's too many.  you could snipe an enemy, once they get close snare them and shoot some more.  You could also repel the enemy, transform into a super battlesqig, then melee.

There is the option of run and gunnin.  It requires expert strafing.  you simply spend you time snaring enemies and kiting them as you repeatedly pelt them with attacks.  This is the hardest thing I have odne with a squig herder, but I have run circles aorund many White Lions and won, with them barely hitting me.

You could focus on quig utility.  Send your pets out on suicide run, blow them up, pull up another one, use its special bonus to give you a stat boost.  Just way too many options.

The squig heder is not the best choice for surprise situation though.  If someone breaks from you tactical plan, you will have osme troubles dealing with the situation.  The only down side to a Squig Herder is low damage.

    2.  Warrior Priest or Disciple of Khain:  This class is a cake walk if you solo.  The key to getting complex with this class is to join group battles and manage healing other people along with yourself.  This calss is overpowered at the moment because they can self heal themselves so well.

The classes weak point is the lack of group healing.  so you have to frequently change targets during combat.  You will need a Mouse Hover mod to allow you to cast on people you dont have targeted.  Even with the mod, your job is quite hectic.

You can tank PQs, or DPS, or just heal.  You can be an offensive DoK and just focus on damage and debuffs.  You could be a healer protector and stand beside a Zealot and heal while you wait for the stealthed flank attack on yoru mages and healers.

    3.  Zealot & Rune Priest:  Not much for damage.  Great at healing.  A large variety of healing spells.  This class becomes complex because their stats play a huge ruole in how well they heal or survive stealth attacks.   Choosing a buff you like can be hard too.

What makes this class complex, is styaing alive while healing your team.

thanks Urrelles I opted for zealot prior to reading your post but will try out a DoK once I have finished queuing :)

No prob.  tHat was lal my personal experience so far with those classes.

About SE, one of the reason they have high damage in the charts but still need a fix in pvp:

    Squiggy attacks a RunePriest.

Squiggy pumps 10k damage into RP.

    RP heals through the 10k.

    Witchhunter kills Squiggy.

Total: 10k damage + no kills + getting killed = 1point for Order.

    Maurader attacks a RunePriest.

Maurader puts 3.5k damage into RP.

RP cant heal through the fast burst damage.

    RP dies.

Total: 3.5k damage + rp Dead + less Order getting heals = 1 point for Dest. + potential for MORE.

SE is really fun to play but it is one of the classes who are unbalanced and need improvement. The charts doesnt say anything. There are more examples with other classes i.e. Tanks who 3-4 shot you at higher lvls or you die almost just from dots and cant compete with others long range dmg. Surviveability is low the more you lvl up.

if you want a class that can do a little bit of everything try a deciple of the dark elfs. they can dot , heal  , nuke, melee fight,  debuff,  and t hey look good in black fool.
