8,5 Great sounds fair to me...

It's not totaly dizzing the game but sees both the good and bad things about the game... The video interview was very good and the guy seemed like he played it a lot. To many reviews are biased one way or another and 8,5 isn't bad.

Maybe they need to change the rating system somewhat.....Give it a 8.5 for the first week then it drops to a 7 the next week, then down to a 5 after that.......

I'd say 8.5 sounds about right; better than the ridiculous 10's people were rating based off an hour or two's gameplay. The problem with rating MMORPGs is that they are constantly evolving and shouldn't be judged on a small snippet of gameplay. Just look at AoC - it was getting 9's and 10's in the beginning because reviewers were only seeing the content in Tortage. Once Joe Public hit the end-game, everyone saw it for the sham it was.

I agree. I rated it a 7.8 on 5 days worth of playing to level 15 on 2 healers. One being a Zealot and the other a Rune Priest. It's just...alright.

the 8.5 review AoC recieved was totally on the level 1-20 content.

I'm sure if they went back and reviewed the rest of the game it would be closer to a 5-6 for AoC.

Anyway 8.5 is a great score anything above a 7 is worth a try imo.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

The reason why games like AoC and War get reviews above the critical 8 mark is simple.

It supports the industry and gets things going (they think).

To develop a new multi million project it needs to be supported by the whole industry. That's the work of the reviews.

The same reason why MMORPG.COM supports every effort within the MMORPG -world.

    B U T :

We all know now that the reviews are often as hollow as the gameplay of certain games. Instead of helping the industry, they create "black holes" in the MMORPG universe.

Games that implode upon mass impact. Hype sells games - ALL games - but they don't sell ... subscriptions. Subscriptions are based on pure gameplay value and here the world changes.

Instead of supporting new half finished half developped games on the market: the industry can only grow with GOOD games - not good reviews or websites like MMORPG's, who like to promote about every new project with a sticker MMORPG on it - no matter how bad the content is.

In the above system the ratings and comments are useless, in that every MMORPG is only evaluated at the subscriptions box.

The more MMORPG's under the 200K subs show they don't have the staying power to pay to play. Every mediocre MMORPG is killing the MMO industry further and just makes Wow bigger.

NOT a good thing in the long run, but NOT the fault of Wow nor Blizzard let alone the players.

The fault lies within the industry in failing to deliver high quality products and so we are confronted with hyped prodcuts which don't stand a chance to go for better gaming experiences.

AoC got 9.4 from certain reviewers. These reviewers damaged the industry and again put Wow in a pole position. Exactly the opposite the industry was hoping for (more competition and more players playing different MMORPGs).

    8.5 is generous, real generous.

All things being equal WAR is an OK game.  It isn't bad it isn't good.  I would rate it a 5.  I would rate AoC a 3.  I would rate WoW a 6.  SWG a 3.  Anyone giving ratings like 10...  That's just absurd.

    Tecmo Bowl.

    To the guy above me..

What would you rate a 10?  Because.. WARHAMMER is rated against the current competition..  8.5 is a good score. it's not the best.. but it sits about right. I would put it more at a 7.8.. but not a 5.    Games that are a 5.. usually get dropped quickly..

but in all honesty, I'd like to see a 5 point scare instead.  it can be a lot more accurate.. for example.

    0 - Don't play

    1 - below averge

2 - Meh.. Must be hardcore into the genre.

3 - Okay.  average..  Worth a look, if you want something new.

4 - Good..  Not genre specific.. but you'll probably waste a couple of hours of your life a day on..

5 - Awesome.. Why are you reading a review?? GO PLAY!!
