Tips for cannoneers

Ive always been intrigued with the cannoneers... I have a cannoneer as a hero and when i ask people aroiund they say i got lucky because out of all the mercs, the cannoneer is the last to be available as a merc for hire...

i think they said cannoneers are only available in quests around level 87.. so they say i got lucky because i get to have a cannoneer so early in the game.. so now im wondering, are there any other cannoneers out there? Maybe you can post your tips on how to play as cannoneers...

one tip i could offer right now which is fairly effective in free league and in bosses is that instead of using skills, use attacks more often because as the combos pile up you get more chance thereby producing stunned enemies within range of the splash

As of now i got 2 swordsmen, a spearman a viking and a shaman... and i what i found out was that spearment and vikings best complements the abilities of a hero cannoneer...

with the cannoneer doing splash damage, spearmen with penetration damage and vikings with lateral damage, both complements the cannoneer because as the damages pile up, opponents shaman get counfused on which row to heal.. by the time she heals one row, one or two rows have already whittled down their hps to insignificant amounts

    Other tips:

Get a monk next and give it lots of Protect skill.  Then start PvP battles with canon main in front with noone directly behind him.  Your opponent may try to kill your main which is dumb because they can't attack much and your monk will autoheal your main.  Make sure to move your main out of front row by round 2 or 3.

Gunners also are great stunners (since they can hit a whole column) and work well with canons.  Personally I have canon main, two gunners, and a artillery all for trying to stun the entire enemy party.  I also have viking, swordsman, monk, shaman, and beast trainer.

good point! putting your main upfront can definitely lure your opponent  on focusing on your hero.. but it really depends if the oponent has long range attack because during the first turn and the opponent deals a barrage of attacks to the hero, you must make sure that he can survive the ordeal before he even gets a chance to move.. and if the oponnent has lots of longrange they can easily snipe your hero at the back

True, I have occasionally underestimated my opponent.  However, a canon main with a monk is tougher than people think.

my main character is a cannoneer and this thread has really been helpful. now i'll make sure to it that once i reach the necessary level, i' going to hire a monk. as of the moment, my mercenaries are two swordsmen, a shaman, a viking, and a gunner. i've tried to join the free league but lost so i think my formation is not very effective. my viking is also still a lowlevel since i just turned level20 so i just used my viking summon orb moments ago.

Just a FYI but your guys mains are Cannons.  Which is actually just an artilleryman. not a Cannoneer, You have Deep Insight as a skill and not Smoke bomb.

That is true and has confused me until very recently.  I mean, when I was rolling my character for the first time, I picked "Cannon" and assumed that I was a "Connoneer".  But actually we are Artillerymen, and the Cannoneer is a high level mercenary.

damn yeah thats what i figured too.. but im still right about them being the last mercs for hire...

some more tips.. once on pvp.. keep focusing on the hero or whichever range-within-splash that deals alot of damage to you,, after the third turn the cannon will almost always produce a stun on the range... at most i was able to stun 5 people in one turn.. this is the most valuable contribution a cannoneer may do in a pvp..

as for levelling tips,, i found out that my swordys and my spearmen get to level faster than my hero? why? because cannonee.... err... artillerymen have weak focused attacks.. even deep insight is useless one you have health check licenses... so on quests and monster battles.. make sure to let him have the last hit on the enemy.. this way the cannon will stay at par with the levels of your hardhitters upfront
