Holy crap, WAR down -20% in gametime (-19% logging customers) since last monday in Xfire:

www.xfire.com/games/who/Warhammer_Online_Age_of_Reckoning/

I know Xfire is a questionable tool to measure activity and subscribers with, but this is just more dramatic than anything else I have seen ever in Xfire. I think we know what it means when we look on the downward trend. Why do you folks think this is happenening?

same reason why you give that Xfire does not measure correctly or cannot be used for AoC?

    hypocrisy.

    Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

You could have almost copy and pasted your post from 9/23 about the same subject.

Actually, most of your posts are about xfire numbers (except about a rockin AOC video).  With the amount you rely on it for your information, maybe look into seeing if they have some stock market advice too?  Or better yet, maybe you should purchase some shares.

WAR is falling everyone!!   Beware!!  Xfire says so!

Here is one for you, out of my guild of 97 people im the only person that uses xfire. and My guildies average 4 hours a day of play time (standards for most since we all work)

Xfire is highly questionable due to the fact that It isnt required to run a game, therefore has zero bearing on actually numbers playing etc. its going to go up and down just like everything else, so there really isnt a need to be a drama queen with a topic post like that.

    Playing: Not much actively.
Games played: to many to list, been playing MMO's since 2001

Either less people are playing, people are playing less hours or people decided that they don't need X-fire.

It is still to early to make anything more than a guess about WARs pop and X-fire numbers are quite worthless anyways. For one thing most PvEers dont use it and it might well be that the WAR players are doing fine without it.

I dont see what is so amazing.  Imo, between 20 to 40% of the people that bought the game wont contineu playing it for lots of reasons.

Although I am not sure if xfire community is representative of the main WAR community but lets assume it is.

Btw, where did you see the -20% in that page.  I do noticed a -11% between the last 2 saturdays.  The rest seems steady.  Personally, I will wait a couple more weekends and see what happens.  I do think you should compare same days, like saturday with saturday.

Anyway, as I said, some people will leave the game.  Do we expect everyone to like it?

And, personally, a if they achieve a 60% of retention it will be a real success.

i have no doubts the population dropped a bit, almost all games do after the initial hype rush (if someone says WoW didn't i am gonna bitch slap em). But i can name other games who's loss was much steeper at launch, and the server i am playing on is healthy, and while queue times have dropped a bit, its still well populated. ALL games will die off after the free month, the real indicator on how well it will do is in the second or 3rd month

X fire reliable for anything? I've been on online games since UO in 99 and I have never used it. I was in a guild in Warcraft with close to 400 people and not even 10% used Xfire.

With MMOs there's always a big rise at launch and then a drop-out of people - especially a newly-launched MMO, as they always have bugs and aren't as polished as normal games. So it's not like this is unexpected, as this happens with all MMOs. We'll have to see how it progresses. Expect it to start picking up again as the game improves, but don't expect it to happen straight away.

And for the record, I do believe XFire numbers show trends fairly well for popular games, so yes I believe a small percentage have dropped out, and possibly more will by next week. As the game improves, WAR will be more and more succesful at retaining the new influx of customers beyond the first free month. It worked for WoW, and now they've got 11 million - and WoW was in a very bad state compared to WAR when it launched in the US.

True, everything over 250K players after 3 months are still great numbers for a MMO.

We do have seen on the forum that not everyone like the game that bought it and honestly doesn't that happen to all games? Particulary just after launch when the games still have issues.

Also the players usually spend more time the first 2 weeks they bought a new game, at least I do that.

WAR could totaly fail or be a huge succes and it will be clear in 3-6 months but a few X-fire numbers don't really say one or the other.

Whoops... my bad.  I should have turned on XFire this week while I was playing.  Sorry about that... it'll come up shortly.

Vanguard never picked up so that is not really true... It is a complicated thing, have to do a lot with if the current players can get their friends play, media coverage, forums like this and so on also.

Anyways any game can go either way. Wow had no drop out like that BTW so not all games have them, same with Guildwars. You might as well use tarot card then to guess how the curve of subs will be.

  • ZeymereZeymere Member UncommonPosts: 210

What about other games?  Seems Wow and other games dropped as well.  Hmm maybe the world economy has something to do with it, ...

    That's because Vanguard was god-awful.

I just wanted to add this thought, Could % drop have anything to do with all the bans? I see it is now 7600. . . I am sure it most likely doesnt have much impact on xfire but who knows.
