After a year I will probably have canceled.  I rarely play any MMO more than a year at a time.  Hopefully in that time there will be newer and better things on the horizon.

sad to see that so many think they will have cancelled in a year, but in the ages we live with new games popping up constanly with new fresh ideas it usually is like this. Not like back in daoc and early eq days, there was not many other games to pick.

Hmm so far cancelled is just in the lead. Does this mean people are having a blast with WAR but don't see the gameplay keeping them entertained in the long-term?

I played doac for over 3 years and yes games dont last as long anymore , i mean if you stay 2 or 3 years in a mmo it's pretty good imo .

I likw war but running scenarios ganna get old specially with open rvr not quite there yet and finding poeple to do pq's or anything else is pretty hard at times.

all i can say let hope mythic has content to put in the game for everyone sake if not it's ganna be a very short ride.

If I'm playing that long, obviously I'd be doing RvR Sieges; whether it be on an alt or my main.  However, chances are; I'll be cancelled as well.  It takes A LOT to keep me in a game passed 4-6 months.  Only Everquest and WoW have done that so far.  All the other games have provided some form of distraction, but have in reality not provided me with enough entertainment passed those 4-6 months.

Long Lived (1yr+)

EQ, WoW

Short Lived (0-6 months)

*DAoC, *Shadowbane, CoH, *DDO

* Might be longer due to quitting and coming back

Failed

EQ2, +SWG, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, Matrix, Planetside

+ Failed because of Sony/Lucas Arts

but there is some very interesting games beeing in dev (alpha/beta) stage and looking very promising. But then again, so did war!

It's going to take Me forever to hit RR80, once I do I'll start an alt and do it again when I'm not raiding/defending a keep or defending/raiding a city with my Main.

Ok you all know i support WAR, and defend it aginst the horde of haters that live in these parts, but i selected cancel it simply not good enough atm to keep me around for a year.

My account is already cancelled.  In a year, my guess is my character will be on a server in a trash dump somewhere since the realm I play on is low/low and will probably get closed down when they allow players to escape dead servers.

And to the player who said games die after a year or two.   WOW has recently announced they are launching new servers because too many players are playing on servers with queues now.

That is true.. the new acheivement system hit like a brick the first day because they made most of them retroactive, so it was slamming the DB's when people were first logging in... but that has pretty much gone away.

But WOW Xfire numbers are up about 30% in the past month and you can really see it in game too.  Same thing happened before BC.. players stopped playin about 6 months before the expansion, then a big group comes back a month before the expansion (when the big patch came) and then another group comes back for the expansion.

said about same as in other thread, but here goes.

 

Games gets released in a beta stage, they are not working as intended, promised functions and things the game has marketed that they will have are not ingame. AoC is a great example of this, the game can prolly shape up, but dented its rep so bad atm I wonder if it ever regains, and WAR is down that path also now, big guilds already bored, ppl bored of the farming of scenarios, wich is quite amusing as Paul screamed on videbloggs that you would not have farming in WAR

 

oh well, all we can do is hope they shape up.
