[*]weapons/armor that evolves or scales with lvling changes graphically better like a broken sword at lvl 1 fixes itself into a champions harbinger at lvl 100. [*]unique evolution of characters like a character swims in a ocean for a while starts to slowly grow scales and attacks become water based.
I'm not sure how fond I am of these points but they lead to me think of two things that are extremely important to me:
One being gear progression. MMOs today seem to love to satisfy people's need for instant gratification. What happened to the days of using armor that looks like it BELONGS on a level 1-10. Sure you can have a little stiching design here and there, but I think cooler looking gear should come later and give you the feeling that you're powerful!
The other, which is more of an idea really, but I think it'd be nice to see a game that had it so as your skill went up in somelike like swimming, not only would your breath capacity/swim speed increase but the animations may change, to give the look of a more experienced swimmer.
Just some thoughts
OH yeah, and please stop the set armor fad, at least high end... It's awful to see a group of the same class looking exactly the same. I miss the days of mixing and matching individual pieces of armor to get the stats I wanted, not to get the stats the game wanted me to have...
No loading screens at all. PvP that I can engage in if I want to. An economy that doesn't become a joke after 6 months. Regular expansions, but not so regular that old content dies a death. Crafting that is complex, demanding and rewarding and even scavenging raw material is fun. Realistic weather. Random events such as an earthquake or a "world" shortage of a mineral/raw material. Combat that is fun and requires a certain degree of skill. "Grind" hidden so well that you actually have fun again. A UI that just works and remembers just how you like it each and every time and is 100% error or keylogger free. A game with no gold farming or gold selling ever. A reasonable subscription plan, but 0 micro transactions, unless it is for frivoulous stuff that offers no player an advantage(even that shit is ebayed). A large mature community that doesn't forget that there is actually a real living breathing human being than you are talking to. A pro-active customer services team that instantly bans gold farmers and sellers and one that gives a great service on both sides of the Atlantic (and indeed across the world). Must have an engaging story, not too indepth that it gives you a headache but not too narrow that it is ignored. A game which challenges your PC just enough without requiring a LHC to cool it.
I know that there is no such that fulfills ALL the above and some of it is probably contradictory, but I can dream
its not feasible to make a game without loading screens. the quantum computers are still non existent, so yeah, this is a total impossibilty. the rest are fine.
Ever tried to get into Jita? You'll be lucky if you even load on the other side and need to petition someone to move you.
PvP that I can engage in if I want to.
PVP is can happen anywhere in eve whether you want to or not.
An economy that doesn't become a joke after 6 months.
Inflation.
Regular expansions, but not so regular that old content dies a death.
Can't disagree with you here. Expansions are regular and free!
Crafting that is complex, demanding and rewarding and even scavenging raw material is fun.
In EVE, helps if you have friends who are dev's to give you free tech 2 original blueprints so you can produce items no one else can and name your price on the market.
Realistic weather.
No weather in eve.
Random events such as an earthquake or a "world" shortage of a mineral/raw material. Combat that is fun and requires a certain degree of skill.
Combat in eve once you get to a certain level is entirely dependent on the ship you are flying and the ship your opponent is flying. If the ships are equal, then the player who has been playing longer will win. So much for skill.
"Grind" hidden so well that you actually have fun again.
Grind ain't hidden here at all. L4 missions can easily take 4-6 hours.
A UI that just works and remembers just how you like it each and every time and is 100% error or keylogger free. A game with no gold farming or gold selling ever.
ISK sellers spam most channels and cannot be permanently banned due to the free trial accounts.
A reasonable subscription plan, but 0 micro transactions, unless it is for frivoulous stuff that offers no player an advantage(even that shit is ebayed). A large mature community that doesn't forget that there is actually a real living breathing human being than you are talking to.
The community is more mature, and also 99.99% male. Also the pirates treat people as bags of isk.

I'm just posting this because eve certainly does NOT fit your list and you will be disappointed if you do play it.
Keep your eyes on Darkfall, its essentially one of the last quality MMOs of the old style to be coming out.
I don't keep my eyes on played out overhyped nonsense that doesn't even have a Beta and can't even prove it has 95% of what it says it has less than 3 months before a supposed commercial launch..

or
[*]powerful character creation, armor, weapons equal to spores creature creater.
1) You mean like in Lotro? Google lotro and legendary items.
2) Wouldn't be too hard, a lot of games have swimming skills, the higher they are, the faster you swim.
3) That will never exist, 3d modeling something like that takes ages, keep in pind that MMO's have a lot of armour pieces, weapons, etc. You'll easily end up with 200 models, + character creation like in spore (another 100-200), your own weapons, etc. So let's say it takes about a day to make 2 of those models (really hard to make). 250 days of work, with a couple of character modelers (usually about 2-3). So that's about 100 days of work, on 1 feature. And that excludes the complicated animations, as MMO's have tons of animations, way more than spore. You'll easily be working on it for over a year.
And the most annoying part, your creations will need to get constantly uploaded to other players. That is also a very big problem with playing RTS games online (when it's peer to peer). One person hosts the stuff for the others, you'll run out of bandwidth after about 10 days of serious playing, if you have a good ISP. And that is just for RTS's, MMO's quickly have 100's of players at the same place. A constant upload of your creations to 100 players, gives you about 2 days to enjoy the game... And, that is calculated with pretty small models (500 kb, including textures). While Spore has pretty huge creations, you need an additional 1 GB of space on macs, for your creations.
Would be fun yes, but can't work...
About #3, what if the game offered a way to customize the appearance of a weapon or item based on limited choices. Some players may remember the update that Bioware did based on player created content in NWN. One of parts of the official hak allowed players to modify the looks of weapons, armor, and clothing based on a pre-generated list of options. If it was a sword for example, the handle, blade, handguard, pommel, etc could each be modified in both shape and color based on what the player chose from the list. Have it a one time use option via using a player crafter, npc, or item to change the appearance and colors with. Not sure how this would affect system resources, but all changes would be done via schems already in the game.

When I log into my MMO a hooters girl appears and feeds me hot wings and beer and tells me im l33t.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing
Isnt it nice to have dreams.
heh i wish such things were possible. we can always dream i suppose...
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds
-Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
to dream is good. but we all end up just dreaming and then sighing afterwards coz they cant do such a thing.

I love God... NOT!...

yup.. imbalances in the economy occur because of gold farmers.. which they are almost always present in mmorpg's.. boo them

I hope Santa will hear us, guess it's a good time for a bump!
