So you've just spent hours working on sword crafting, gotten some cool mats and made yourself a [Shiny Longsword of Greater Crafting] wouldnt it be great if [Original Owner: Wartywarlock][Crafted By: Wartywarlock] was attatched, as the first to wear that copy, and then [Stolen By: KillerTom] for the first to steal it.
I reckon this would be just awesome, for such reasons as: full loot, so you know where what you just got came from, and again full loot, your item you just recovered from that player reminds you of how you failed to protect it! I see this as being really good, imagine getting some awesome item from a mob, to find it was made/worn by some numpty who lost to that mob.
Pretty cool imo!

Something like the "inventor" sure it should be there, but who stole it the first time???? why?
because its like a 'rite' or something. you stole it thus you, the vandal theif you are carve your name in it hehehe! wouldnt overwrite the carfter/owner portion. it just adds lore to items in a way. and brings in an interesting side game of tracking were your items flow to.
Well if you put in the first steal, then you should put in all steals. Then yeah, you will have a lore to the item, but to do that on every item is just crazy. Maybe on the weapons that only a master crafter can make, weapons that are truely unique or something like that, the crafter can somehow add a lore to the item, making up a story behind the weapon and how he invented it. But not on every peace of crap that you can wear at the begining of the game.
yeah maybe i should have been more clear. i kind of implied the high level crafting. of course vender trash doesnt need it. just hard to make/rare items/weapons not all just those where it seems appropriate. i suppose all theivery could be good, mite take more space than is justifiable tho, but then if its only certain items..would be cool to see an item history
it would also be hard to dispute rivalries when you can shove it in their face and be like 'look biatch, you DID steal it, I KILL YOU!!!!'
well the crafter's name is already permanently attached to a crafted item in DF, that's enough.
Heh you fanbois are amazing. Let's create more database stress by tracking useless information! yay!
I agree.
Who cares who stole it first?
If they do something like AC did with the ability to inscribe items that would be cool.
That I think might be nicer, because you have the ability to do your ow thing with your items, like write the name of ever important person you kill on your weapon, inscribe your name and such on items you craft, get famous players to sign your gear....
