"This guy is obviously a WoWhead even though he never made any mention to WoW in his entire post."
"This guy obviously hasn't even played the game..."
"Why are you playing the game if you don't like it?"
There's a few more on the legendary lameass WAR excuses hall of fame but, these are the only ones I can remember at the moment. Face it, you guys are just as unoriginal as WAR. It's like you're trying to emulate the MMO industry in it's current state.

While I agree that some of these are a streach, I think that the last one is actually pretty reasonable. If you don't like the game, why ARE you playing it? Also, does asking a perfectly rational question make me a fanboi too?
Seriously. You don't like the game, that's cool and I can totally respect that. What I can't respect is the name-calling and antagonism going on here. I just don't get it. You don't like the game, I do like the game. Let's just shake hands and go our separate ways.
Okay, stop right there. Noone is playing this game like WOW, if anything there probably praying it's somethign else, then finding out WOW was actually better (which is nuts since WOW is horrible)
Just stop fanboys, if this game is so great how do you have so much time to respond to these posts?? If my fav game was out MMO style id never be here bickering with u fanboys

The problem is that it contradicts with the quote above it. People assume that a person has not played the game, and that they therefore cannot review when the review is negative. Then, when someone clearly shows that they have played the game and dock the game for its perceived flaws, they are asked why they even bothered playing it. It's trying to have your cake and eat it too, and it doesn't work.
In response to going "our separate ways," I (and others like me) will go my separate way when I have a way to go. MMOs were fueled by hardcore customers and now they are made for casuals. Until we have some new MMOs with depth and challenge again, we have nowhere to go.
No, I stopped reading after you said WAR tried too hard to be WoW.
The problem is you are trying to hard to play WAR like WoW
QFT
Lol, WAR is full of people powerleveling, looking to get the best gear at their tier, watching only after themselves or (maybe) their guild mates, refusing to open their groups for fear someone is going to "steal" their influence or renown, afking in scenarios...
It is really true - the crap that is WoW really did a huge damage to player mentality at large. I see that things are slowly changing in WAR itself but there still are anoraks out there who simply do not get it that WAR isn't WoW and that this is a completely different game with different requirements for "winning" - namely having as much fun as possible while helping your faction prevail.

The entire genre caters to these mad hatters that you're speaking about. They make games specifically for these "human" wrecks to float about in during their lives adrift in the endless droning sea of their boring repetitive games, like so much flotsam.
The entire scene has become like...those piece of shite horrible tabloids you see in the checkout line at the grocery store. Yes, they're totally worthless to read, all fluff with no filler, time killers, but people mindlessly drag them out to their carts and read them for entertainment nonetheless.
Like putting a bag of cheetos in front of a fat kid, when you leave the room and come back, the bag will be empty and the fingers of the kid will be orange gauranteed. Not because Cheetos are any good, they're horrible little salty pieces of styrofoam that give you brain cancer, but because the fat kid couldn't resist. It's in his nature. Cheetos brand cheese flavored snacks isn't in the business of trying to be anything good for you, but they know their target demographic, who will buy their product and eat it, so they make it accordingly and it keeps being successful.
Does the kid gobbling down all those bags of cheetos and fritos and doritos ever get any healthier? Hell no. But does he ever stop buying the bags of flourescent orange tainted snacks to shovel in his gullet? No, he never does not for the rest of his life. He's not happy either and he never will be until he replaces those little scrotum shrivelled crunch treats with a stick of brocolli or a baby carrot.
Which is what this entire genre has become, and the people playing it have complacently let it be by shovelling their money over by the bucket load for these same old tired cliche pieces of entertainment "fast food" that neither fill or entirely satisfy but simply momentarily scratch the itch for awhile before it's on to the next carbon copy clone of the same game they've been playing for the last entire decade.
Time for a change. Any games coming out in this genre that will bring this about? Not from the looks of it any time soon. Perhaps it's time to funnel any money spent on this entire genre of games into buying a console system or three, not really doing anybody any good to feed these devs that continue to funnel out the same worn out and tired cliches over and over while bringing nothing new to the table for all the money and time spent. Good riddance I say too.
Wasted potential is sad. We could have so much more out of these kinds of games than we do, but the developers and publishers of these titles have no incentive to create anything different or even better than what has come before as they know that people will fork over money hand over fist to be spoon fed the same regurgitated dog slop as they've been sucking on for the last 10 years and smile like mongoloid ape the entire time doing it. So why deviate? That's what these guys want, and let them have it I say. Eventually something will snap and people will wake up and say "you know what? Enough is enough I'll be damned if I give another cent to these clowns until they come up with something worth all the time in development and original to play without falling back on the same old tired cliches and lazy mans patterning without once bothering to think outside the status quo."
Only then will the injection that is needed to bring this sterile and wobbling genre be given as a shot to get things moving in a new and interesting direction. Don't hold your breath though. People don't seem to be getting any more willing to stop paying for this kind of tired beaten down and worn out game style just yet.
I would be shocked to see a good new innotavite and groundbreaking game come out in the next 5 years and expect only these mediocre wow clones that are on par with F2P games coming down the pipe and into the cheeto stained hands of those that line up at the gates in a throng to pay for them. 5 years is probably not enough time, maybe not in 10 years will we see anything really worthy of setting the bar higher.

This brings me onto the problem of PVP because most the time I'd find it to be all about what class I faced and not how good I am. Like some classes could never beat others and thats the way WAR is setup because its a game about having diverse groups fight against eachother. However I don't understand why we can't have the best of both worlds and make it so if I'm good enough I can beat anything with the class I picked. I want to be able to fight 3 vs 1 and win like I can in WOW because I'm that much better than them. However in WAR if you're outnumbered then you better run because it doesn't matter how good you are, whoever has the most people wins. This is tied into the lack of diversity of skills you have in each class and the lack of crwod control and all the kool unique skills.
This is exactly why WAR is infinitely superior to WoW. Oh noes, you might actually have to *gasp* work with other people in your realm to succeed!!
Oh, and the bit in red probably should read something like... "because I have all the epic loot which allows me to win."

Bit in blue is not true if you work as a team.
Even *if* that statement has value, aren't you still only speaking about something that holds true for the underpopulated realm then? So your "superior" argument which makes the game better only holds for something less than half the people in the game are experiencing?
Seems to me the OP says he wants WAR to be different than World of WarCraft. Then he goes on ranting about how he doesn't like that things are different than in World of WarCraft. It seems to me that WAR is quite different than WoW, but the OP trying too hard to make it into WoW.
Conclusion: "I want a game different than World of WarCraft, but World of WarCraft does things the best way, so I want a game that's like World of WarCraft."
When I first started playing MMO's I was under the understanding that you play to play with others players hance the MM part. Im Warhammer its all about grinding PQs and senarios and looking out for your self. At the moment 38 rank Bright Wizard I have only grouped like 5 times. To be honest I dont feel like I need to group to do anything. This is where this game fails for me. I mean where is the Group battles that I so wanted to be WoWed about. This is of course with exception for Senarios since grouping is a given.
Out side Senarios I just grind mobs and run around killing more mobs until the Senario queue pops. This game is Meh
All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.
WAR is WoW with a dash of DAoC instead of DAoC with a dash of Warhammer. Faboys are just too deep in denial to accept this. I think most people playing WAR are just jaded and hold irrational hate at WoW. Both games are good at what they do, the problem is that WoW does pretty much everything WAR does, except it has even more stuff to offer (and if there is something WAR has that WoW doesn't yet, you can bet your life on the fact that Blizzard will do their best to copy it. That's just how they are).
I think Mythic should've never wasted their time with scenarios and PQ's, and just beefed up open world RvR into a monster.
Meh...This thread is full of it. I like WAR. Does that make me a stupid fanboy? I like WoW too, allthough I'm burnt out and bored with it. Does that make a stupid fanboy? Both sides in this matter take things too personal. In the end, it's only a bloody game we play to entertain ourselfes, not the second coming. Reminds me of the console tards arguing about what console is the best, praising their mediocrity skyhigh.
Do you wanna know also why it IS dropping in player numbers after merely 3 weeks and IN the free time period? It already shows you can ALL forget the 1M subs even the 500K subs after 2 months and WHY ???
Go and look at your fighting speed, the unresponsive control of your avatar and the clunky combat in general.
Now start up a BG in Wow - ANY level.
And see the difference in SPEED, CONTROL, ANIMATION, lag-free avatar PvP swiftness.
How can you make a PvP/RvR game which lacks everything in PvP fights the leader off this industry offers.
Terrible, only the ones that - for some reason or another - are blinded by Wow hate, don't seem to notice the obvious.
PvP for slowly handicapped - with lag - that's the picture of the tactical finesse in War.

two of the things that scare more when it comes to my own species are the lack of insight of it's members to see the clear picture and the blind faith that , for some reason, every one is the "axis mundi".
Let me get to the point: your purpose has been served.
yes, your - and to a point mine also since i'm in the same boat as you. I was one of those hardcore customers that wanted complex, deep and challenge gamplay. But thank god i'm not blind . that time passed. We had a purpose : keep the MMORPG, or should i say the MMO pay to play game floating in the starting years. And we did that very well. thats why they exist today.
But it come to a time where "our genre" stop being "our genre",
And for whatever reason, i don't understand how or why most of the people of my age or video game background don't see the thing as it is: we are not the prime market anymore, they are not thinking in us when making new games, they are trying to get the masses and the masses dont want complex, deep, challenge gameplay.
we will never get what we want in broad MMO's like wow, warhammer, AOC etc. Any game trying to target a large ,massive audience will not have complex, deep, challenge gameplay, because the moment they offer that, they will stop aiming for the massive audience.
and as a side not: I actually like WAR and WOW , for what they are: well made linear games without ilusions of "grandeur". they work, they are fun, they are linear in their puporse and their purpose is evident from the start. They are also honest (unlike funcom's AOC that tried to be something that it is not).

this i agree with
WAR was ok but after a while when i would go to log in i would go meh and find something else to do
Well, some things I have observed over the past weeks:
- descriptions of the game that reflect a limited knowledge of both game mechanics and content.
- Racing to the top-mentality, despite the fact that the endgame is not that much different from 1-40 (RvR/Scenarios), minus city sieges.
- people burn out by just playing scenarios and then compare WAR to GW for that reason... well, there is more to do, but in the end how you play a game is up to you (see first point).
- People find scenarios unrewarding. Well, without trying to generalize, it is a learning curve that some have to go through. It is quite interesting that it is often easy to spot former DAoC players among the crowd, simply by how they play the game (more organized, know what /assist means, actually heal and rezz you, ...).
WAR is a PvP-centric game with quite a bit of PvE along the way (which you can choose to play or not...). It's not trying to be WoW and will therefore not measure up in what WoW does best - PvE grind. It however has much more meaning to PvP, if you care enough to explore all it's facetts instead of focusing on only one aspect of it. Guilds and team play are key on WAR, something that some people don't feel comfortable with - that's my feeling from many posts at least. Well, you can't please everyone.
But calling WAR "bland" and "meh" just shows that PvP is either not ones cup of tea (than why complain...?) or that he/she has yet to experience real RVR battles with a guild group... The latter will become more dominant as people level up and the initial xp-grind stops. That is not to say that one can not have exciting RvR already - had it myself and read multiple posts by others about it. It's just a question of caring to look for it.
For God's sake stop saying he's trying to play WAR like WoW, he makes some references yes but it's quite a long post and if you bother to read it I'm sure you'll see the deeper meaning - and all this "he's crying" nonsense makes me angry, if you can't have a constructive conversation without resorting to cliched (and highly average) insults then please see yourself out.
Well the point is that it is true that the OP wants to play War like a better WoW. I myself wanted that but didnt even know it. I realized that while I had fun with the pvp aspects of WoW, I just can't live of pvp alone so War is not for me.
The problem however is that I might still have fun with War if it would be so honest as to exclude pve at all, since the Warhammer PvE plainly sucks. Public quests are funny the first two or three times but then? Please let me do scenarios and rvr only because pve grind in Warhammer is mindbogginly dull.
If it weren't for my guildies and gf I would long have left Warhammer but since they all love it I somehow have to stay and I would just wish that the game wouldnt try to attract the WoW masses with an artficial, boring pve part that looks like wow but feels like ... Lineage2 at best.
As for the OP... well he just gave his opinion which has valid arguments and invalid ones (such as the pvp not requiring skill) but I think he really has to make it clear to himself that he like me, does in fact like WoW (at least some of it) and that we both simply are not 100% PvP gamers.
If I had to level my Battlefield character then to hell with the game
In response to going "our separate ways," I (and others like me) will go my separate way when I have a way to go. MMOs were fueled by hardcore customers and now they are made for casuals. Until we have some new MMOs with depth and challenge again, we have nowhere to go.
So until then, you're going to hang out and insult those of us who do like the game?
I get that you're not having fun in the game. I get that you're personally frustrated about what you consider to be a lack of depth and challenge (I happen to disagree with you, but I can see where you're coming from). I don't get how that gives you and others like you the right to insult others who don't share your opinions. Doesn't make any sense to me.
To all War players who love the game out there: Do you wanna know also why it IS dropping in player numbers after merely 3 weeks and IN the free time period? It already shows you can ALL forget the 1M subs even the 500K subs after 2 months and WHY ??? 1st paragraph, intentionally trying to make WAR players angry for a responce. Non-constructive way of making your point (which personally, you are trying to make your opinion by looking at a totally predictable fact and proclaiming "Your world is ending" The numbers are going to drop for 2 weeks because we have 6+ months of purchases making a decision wether to stay with the game or not vs 1 month of people buying the game. SO if there is a drop in WotLK in the month after it comes out, will you be signaling the end of WOW?)
The combat is a level playing field. Both sides are working at the same speed. Combat is not determinded by button mashing, but how you work as a group. They did advertise this from day one and have never changed.
I have done (too many) BGs in WOW and lost my taste of it because of the twinks. I got tired of 1-2 shots and dead before I could react.
It actually provides a heck of alot more than WOW does. Like actually being able to enjoy it.
I am not blinded by hate (still a paying WOW customer) but you, Sir, have an agenda you want to run down the throats of people who are enjoying something different than you enjoy.
Last comment, another insult to people who play WAR.
Please also note my example of not insulting WOW, you personally, or your (obvious) favored player base.
To all War players who love the game out there: Do you wanna know also why it IS dropping in player numbers after merely 3 weeks and IN the free time period? ha well seeing as my controls aren't clunky and i dont really lag at all in pvp your little rant proves nothing. Oh and btw when WoW first introduced pvp the games would crash half the time. So yea it took WoW 4 years to get where it is. Stop comparing WAR to it. All your doing is making yourself look like a ignorant WoWgeek

The new fanboi bandwagon is:

"This guy obviously hasn't even played the game..."
"Why are you playing the game if you don't like it?"

Well said.

I have to agree with OP

Grammar nazi's. This one is for you.
To all War players who love the game out there:
So until then, you're going to hang out and insult those of us who do like the game?
I get that you're not having fun in the game. I get that you're personally frustrated about what you consider to be a lack of depth and challenge (I happen to disagree with you, but I can see where you're coming from). I don't get how that gives you and others like you the right to insult others who don't share your opinions. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Just like to say nice write up, enjoyed reading it.
Has made me think twice about buying the game and will wait untill i can get a free key to play.
My main concern about Warhammer is, will it be exciting to play after 6 months ?
Theres alot of people who are loving the game at the moment.
I remebered when they introduced BG to WoW is was f*king awesome i loved it.
A couple of months later, the BG's didn't seem that great.
Have a good day
QFT. Excellent post.

ha well seeing as my controls aren't clunky and i dont really lag at all in pvp your little rant proves nothing. Oh and btw when WoW first introduced pvp the games would crash half the time. So yea it took WoW 4 years to get where it is. Stop comparing WAR to it. All your doing is making yourself look like a ignorant WoWgeek
