That is not a bug, it is lag due to players resubbing, and what better place to reroll than on tyranny. I too have been experiencing high latency lately.

umm no thats not resubbing.....thats a server coding issue. Server pings which affect the whole community are not cause by character creation

umm yes, servers ping high because of traffic, the more players the more lag spikes.

no...more people, the more lag, yes, but latency pings are not related to lag spikes, especially when you are in the middle of no where.

Server load effects network latency and it doesn't matter where in the game you are, or who you are around.  This is a common problem, and not "faulty server coding."

well if this was the case, then this is the first mmorpg i know not to use server clustering, and everything is running off one computer!!!!

    i.e. wow; illidan.

lol...you don't understand how a server cluster works do ya? I am beginning to think you are trying to explain something else, and am not understanding what i am trying to say.If there is a thousand people in Tortage, the server will lag there, but if your toon is in, say Conall Valley (which is a seperate server cluster than tortage) you will not experience the lag from tortage there. Different servers working on different loads, thats why in some games, you have zones which crash or dont load properly, while the rest of the game can stay up and running.

The lag spikes (3k ping ETC..) is a problem with new instances opening up, or not closing correctly. As has been stated many times. However i thought they had fixed that, also, not many people are reporting it anymore on the forums that i can see.

Could it be that some here are A) Using old info from before the fix B) Confusing Performance with Network lagg.

Also, from the two threads linked:

there is only 1 instance in the zone i was in, because i do remember reading that zone opening and closing was an issue, but it wasnt the case where i was in, unless an instance in a different zone was affecting it, which would go back to server coding. And it has increased dramatically according to posters since 2.0. Granted i did not play 2 weeks after launch, and resubbed as of Saturday, but i don't remember it being this bad at launch.

I don’t doubt your experiences, but its seems they already corrected the major one from a while back. This seems to be something new, and isolated to a handful (when considering 100%) of users.

The response he gave is quite valid and logical.

Also, I have had the same thing happen in WAR recently, and it’s not just me. So it’s not like all MMO's are immune to such things.

Considering the netcode in AOC is more complex, it may take longer to fix the issue, especially because it seems inconsistent, and doesn’t (from his posting) match the data they are receiving.

i am not trying to bash the game or anything, i am paying to give it another go, and got to lvl 22 already. Was just explaining how this is a huge issue atm, and trying to get my point across to the other poster who says its due to a massive influx of players (sorry no....)

I came back to AoC last night and I must say, I see some good improvements, but at the same time I see lots of the same old problems. Sorry for long post, lots to talk about and share as well as much to ask about.
    IMPROVEMENTS:
-Game client is very stable now, I have not crashed, stuttered, experienced any mem leaks, had fps issues, nothing like that. The game runs better on max setting then War does, and this this is on a pc that could be built for less then $600 USD today.
-Some content has been added, pvp xp, more quests, all good stuff.
UI has been mildly improved and make chatting and such a bit easier.
-Severs have not crashed once, they used to always crash when too many instances of an area where open, causing your whole party to relog and be in 6 different instances. I will explain why this is only a half fix below.
-Instances gone? I have go thru several zones and not been in an instance once (this could be a lower game pop, but I always played on Tyranny which is highest pop server so unsure) and the zones have had players all over them making the game feel more massive.
-More armor, or at least it seems, I have seem a greater variety of armor that people are wearing and much of it looks kick ass.
-World pvp is thriving in a way no other game atm has it, and it's tons of fun for the most part.
ISSUES THAT PERSIST (and newly arising problems):
-Lag during pvp fights VERY OFTEN causes my mace to go thru my enemies avatar yet it does not register as hit (WTF!??!). I have also noticed lag spikes/freezing that only happen (in my experience) during pvp fights where my abilities will not go off for 5-15 seconds, often resulting in my death because I could not do the right thing at the right time. Characters are still rubber banding around during pvp causing me to be out of  melee range when they are standing right next to me and have them shoot all around the screen, also usually resulting my death. These problems are all results of lag, I play in the west coast usa and have an average ping of 150 (which fucking blows) but even with that ping these kind of events are not acceptable.
-Side stepping in pvp, this may also be related to lag, tho I am not sure. With almost perfect certainty if some one sidesteps while you are using a combo the combo will miss, even if you adjusted so that you are facing them when it goes off, and the animation happens right into the character, the combo still frequently misses. Players can also often sidestep every attack you make turning them into Neo from the Matrix. This is bs and totally cheap and ruins a lot of fights, I can understand being able to dodge the occasional hit, but when I go full bore on a caster class and I don't hit them once even tho my animations are going off ON TOP OF them it makes me feel cheated. This and the above mentioned problem are game breaking for me.
-Lack of zones still. Kesh is I believe the only zone to get from 75-80 in the whole server (this the case for a lot of level brackets only having one zone) and kesh is also where 75% of the max level characters are pvping on a pvp server at any time. Add more zones for level ranges so every one is not bottlenecked in specific places. Don't get me wrong I love the world pvp, but at least give us some additional zones to spread out the rampant gank fest.
-Turning all green+ world drops BOE...
-Sirillion has announced that he plans to make high end armor stats go from giving you 25% of your total character attributes to 50%, this is totally the opposite of what was promised pre-launch. It was claimed hundreds of times that armor would not make a HUGE difference.
-Lack promised at launch features, MOST SPECIFICALLY guild controllable towers and resource nodes, it was promised dozens of time by Godager and Erling that there would be guild controllable forts/towers and resource nodes, since launch I have not heard a world about it, IF ANY ONE HAS INFO ON THIS PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST POST IT! There are dozens of other features that were announced for launch that have not been spoke of since, but the forts and resource nodes are why I bought the fucking game and now I think they will either never be in or not til the first xpac.
-More but not worth mentioning atm.
    --------
I have used my search buttons, scoured the forums, both official and these and found almost no discussion on the issues I have mentioned here. If people have link/answers to these questions I thank you from the bottom of my heart. the problems I mentioned, many of which are game breaking imo, need answers on  when to expect solutions, if it all.
Also please don't use this a thread to troll in, if you hate funcom and have legit criticisms then post them, but I and every one else interested in having a dialog will report blatant trolling and nonsense. Start a new thread if you wish to troll leave mine the fuck alone.

Good points but just focusing on your comments about guild controlled forts and towers plus resource nodes.  Not sure if I am missing the point here but this has been around for a long time.  I was in a guild that built a very very large fort with towers, trader etc etc.  NPC guards even roamed our fort and guarded it.  When you entered the 'resource map' where the fort was it didnt let you build your own resource nodes but what it does is restrict those nodes for people who own a keep on that map.  So you pretty much have the cherry pickings of the nodes unless a guild member gets there first.  The sight of a massive fort with NPC guards roaming around is probably the best thing I have seen in any MMO.  However I cant help but think that AoC designers should have left the entire east side of the map empty and let players build their keep / fort on open land.  Be pretty special to occupy and hold valuable land a bit like corporations holding sectors with valuable minerals in EVE.
