That's not the case in LOTRO, only the humanoid types do. And in SoTNW, no one drops money. But what i find funny is they drop food. Particularly amusing are the skeletons that drop beef.
lol well i guess lotro got it first ^^
lol@sotnw
Do you not play vanguard ? With all your posts on the vanguard forums about the ugly character models you would think you would know that only humaniods drop money in vanguard . So guess that makes LoTR second.
yes i played vanguard. but iv never reallt noticed ^^
Yeah, it always nagged at me why animals carried some of the stuff that dropped off of them...
But what realy bothered me was how on earth a skeleton could drop an axe, or anything else you didn't see on them. I mean, good grief, I can see clear through them, it wasn't in their hand, and too large to fit in their skull, where were thy hiding those plate mail leggings?
In EVE they have 'bounties' which is a bit more logical.
I didnt think you had to hunt down ANIMALS in EVE.......at least thats not what I remember when i played it. Do you meet some that are flying their own spaceships later in the game then? If you do then the fact that they are carrying money can easily be explained by the fact that they are advanced enough to be flying a ship. Their money could also be stored in the cargo hold of their ship.
Actually this would be a great addition to EVE. As well as human pilots you could choose from advanced forms of Aadvark (bonuses to the use of tractor beams), Badgers (armour bonuses) and Pigmy Shrews (they could only fly frigates but they get insane speed bonuses)
EVE players term NPCs as 'rats' actually. And like I said before, they have a bounty on them and drop consistent, logical loot for their ship type
The equivalent in a fantasy MMO would be to have critters that drop what their animal type should drop
I believe The Saga of Ryzom drops consistent, logical loot as well. Animals drop craft materials that can be sold, etc
Single player RPGs that had logical looting was Elder Scrolls, Two Worlds, and so forth....
Sandbox games are more likely to pursue 'logic' while themepark MMOs often abandon all reason and logic making them feel like I'm at walt disney land
I'll tell you were the animal got the money if you explain to me were he was hiding the six foot long polearm i looted off it. My mob happened to by a deer btw
You didn't happen to notice that the deer was walkin a little bit stiff...like it had something shoved up its...well you get the idea... Hopefully you were quick to unload that polearm off at the earliest possible time...
moneyz hav been dropin from animals since ages ago so why bother. this is a fantasy world were talkin bout here. its quite fun to imagine how they carry that stuff though.
Star Wars Galaxies had an amazing system. I still miss it.
There...there...we all miss SWG. It will be Ok. There is new hope on the Horizon.
What KOTOR Online the Lucas Arts WOW clone?
Infact I bet they call it The Old Republic Online but then change it to KOTOR Online because they feel more people know that franchise name (you know like what the did to Middle Earth Online which was a better name than lotro) and then put under it Star Warsy and Iconic.
They attack you because you have the coins they need. Have you ever heard of a horse or sheep dropping a credit or debit card? They need your coins to buy WoW gametime cards.
At least thats where I hear all the sheep go...maybe a few lemmings

True that. As far as I know animal in EQ1 and EQ2 doesn't drop money either (or platemails, polearms etc). In Eq2 they drop socalled vendor loot (sellable junk loot), like pelts, claws, saliva. I don't remember how it is in EQ1, but I seem to remember animals dropping bodyparts like claws, pelts, eyes etc.
So not all mmo's have animals that drop coins Good to see.
IMO. You can sell animals right? They usually turn into any kind of delicacy, so the money that is drop is the income for killing an animal and sold it to the market. Though, any mmorpg's won't let you sell those directly, so they decided to give you money so It won't be much of a work load for you guys.

but yes you are correct
March on! - Lets Invade Pekopon
IT's the credit market, even the animals are deemed able to pay back
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Shhhh...the government hasn't figured out that they do..or they would confiscate... err...ummm ...tax it away from them, just like it does to people.
:P

MMOs are "games", and games have basic incentive that are not necessarily based in RL...
Interesting thread to see folks still get wired just to post in a forum.

Nothing easy is ever worth your while...
good ol' Ryzom
where animals and insects drop animal and insect parts - and strangely enough just their own parts
although supposedly high level ones have some kind of gems or something - haven't gotten that far yet
Star Wars Galaxies had an amazing system.

why do horses attack me in WAR? and sheeps? What's next, aggressive cows? :<
erm havent noticed this myself, you don't disguise yourself as a blade of grass by any chance?
Maybe you was a butcher in a previous life and now the electric sheep are getting their revenge.
aggressive cows, why not it is a fantasy world, they could have firebreathing cows that would be cooler.

Try Diablo 2 and the Cow Level. Those were some mean milk cows.
What region did you see this happen? In WAR so far all I've ever seen attack me was humanoids.

Yeah. But these guys got more valuable stuff in their pockets than some bosses LOL.
Spend some time at country bars and you will meet a lot of aggresive cows...
