Note to people thinking about joining WAR

Just at little heads up that the post on this forum does not reflect the quality of the game. The reason for all the negative posts is the simple fact that people who like the game prefer to spend their time actually playing.
The people who don't like the game spend their time here complaining that they don't like it.
Try it out for yourself instead of listening to the rants found here!

Sift through the negative to see for yourself what things might actually affect you and take everything with a grain of salt.
That doesn't however mean issues mentioned here aren't real issues the game has.
Heck, Horizons could have been an amazing game despite all the crap the forums had, because after all, all the happy people are ingame playing and not posting amiright!?
I'll have to admit that I was considering buying the game, but a mixture of negative comments and realisation that it really doesn't suit my playstyle has made me decide against it.
It's strange because I keep hearing people rave about it and I see ratings around the 8.5 mark, but the cynical part of me can't help but think this is because people are so desperate for something new that they are willing to overlook its flaws. Part of me is very intrigued as to what WAR is like, but I'm not willing to fork out another £30 for a game that I know deep down isn't for me.

Glad to see you could stop over here and stop praising AOC for a min Subpro. But the lack of anything to do except grind was the problem problem with AOC after level 20 not this game.
I'm 36 in warhammer and have yet to see a lack of conent or scenarios to do.
The people who like it are actually playing? Well not exactly a ringing endorsement considering how dead most of the servers are.

Since most of the servers are not dead. At the high point this weekend 8 were Low/Low (compared to 5 last week). All the other ones were Med/Med or higher.
my server has been high pop for both sides since day one and still has queues on some nights....
a lot of other "types" of people who like war i assure you.
its a amazing game, with obvious flaws
try it out or dont, im sure some will like it some not...no biggie

Just go to ANY War fan site and see what REAL players are saying. Is War fun sure , still has alot of bugs. This WAR we have now is not the one some of us played in beta/closed beta. Now that was a BLAST and the best game ever lol. See everyone was at RVR. Yet with the changes Mark Jacobs (Myth) have been trying to make RVR is still dead. And thats what WAR is about.
As War is now there is no RVR. So if you want to PVE or play scenarios then you will have a blast. Its just going to take some time before they figure out how to get people in RVR.
Also if you like to chat then War is not for you. Dont believe me go to any town, or the ONE city and hang out .. you will see people but NO chat.
OP, just wait for a free trial and save your money for any game you are concerned about buying.
My friends and I are having a lot of fun with this game. And I understand that many will NOT like this game. What I don't understand is why they spend so much time in this forum. Well actually, I *do* understand, but I'm not a trained psychologist so I can't technically diagnose their specific illness.
Am I the only one who is laughing over the fact that this entire thread is composed of people discriminating eachother over video games? I'd say stay on topic but I'm not sure what the point of this thread was. Not to look at the negatives...? That's not exactly great advice.
Good advice about the game doesn't make it bad advice if it is negative about the game. People don't seem to think that this game is aloud to have flaws just because they are having a good time and the flaws do not effect them specifically. Guess what, some of us want to know about these flaws. Outright lying about the game and saying it is God is about as bad of trolling as saying this game is piss poor. Because it's neither. I want to know everything about something before I buy it, video game or not, if it's a relatively worthwhile expense. The negatives are just as important as the positives.
EDIT: You also have to keep in mind that, to argue what the OP is saying, most of us wouldn't be on this side of the forums if we weren't slightly interested in the game. Not every single freakin' negative review against this game has the sole purpose of bringing it to it's knees. Some of us here actually want to inform the public of what they are buying. Like I mentioned, citing all of the positives and disregarding the negatives is just as bad as citing all of the negatives and disregarding the positives.
I'm personally happy I didn't listen to these forums, because I like the game a lot...
Anyway, it seems that every forums I've read on mmorpg.com is full of people who claim it's the worst game to ever be made, including warhammer online, of course, so I wasn't really surprised to see the same thing over here. I personally think it's the website that seems to attract any kind of complainers, kinda like if you go on a official forum you only find posts about how the game in awesome.
Well, war doesn't have an official forum but you get the idea.
The problem is a lot of people exaggerate (The haters) or are just plain Trolls. They do hang around here A LOT. There is somethings wrong with this game, this is true. What few little things are wrong though people have to exaggerate the other things (see server populations). The biggest thing, I say, thats just wrong is the Crafting. Thats my personal opinion not everyones. Some people I have talked to like the crafting.

Huh? AoC had the same problem bad PvE experience at mid level and higher.
Same for me. The "rant post" are actually something I like to read, because they straight out reveal quite a few flaws and problems, that I cant get anywhere else. That combined with what I've seen on numberous vids from youtube, made me want to wait a bit and look for response on the game. Still watching the game and being interested, but not more than that for now.

I agree with some but also take issue with some of this post. I'm sure it's server by server but on Phoenix Throne there's a keep siege going on almost every night. (T2 through T4) We still have queues at primetime. The actual solution to getting people to RvR is the same solution to chat... guilds and alliances. On our server I am part of a large guild in a multi guild alliance. That gives me a pretty big pool of people right there. We attacked a fortress saturday night but got destroyed... not enough T4 yet. On the negative side my Rank 35 epic gloves i just picked up are bugged and are usable in the boots slot- so it looks like i'm running around barefoot and the awesome gloves graphics are hid under the actual crappy gloves im wearing. Still lots of little bugs like that but this game is still the most fun i've had pvping in an mmo.
So according to your own philosophy you dont like War... interesting
War is a good game. It does alot of things better then anything else out there. I like the PVP and I usually hate PVP in games. I like the Tome system which makes pve more interesting and the PQ are fun and get people together. But these are my opinions and I only share them so you can hear both sides, since alot of people here will be hating on the game.

I'm kinda tired of the argument about "Noones in world PVP" For one my server is very populated, and theres always PQs and RVR going on. Even this morning at 8AM (cst) I saw people doing PQs and found a group of 3 in RVR (and this is definitely an off-peak time) --- but thats not the point I'm trying to make...
Scenarios don't ruin the game.. it might ruin the game FOR YOU, but the majority of people are choosing to play scenarios rather then World PVP. If you play, you don't have to choose playing a scenario, just get a group and take some holds, if you don't want to wait (what you could consider a queue) for players of the opposite army to get there then you shouldn't complain.
Personally, if you aren't RVRing on a med/med or high population server, then you must've just given up...
I can't speak for the euro servers.. but the NA ones are always busy.
I've heard the complaints about WAR and I haven't experienced any of those problems.
It all comes down to what kind of game do you enjoy? I've enjoyed many games but only SWG has been able to please me as much as this game. SWG in the early days that is.
In order of enjoyment: 1. SWG(again-early days) 2. WAR 3. LOTRO 4. AC 5. EQ 6.WoW 7.EQ2
Everyone has the site right to post their minds to a certain degree. Whether they are right or wrong is up for interpretation.
I tend to ignore most of the tripe here and try a game I think I will like. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Find the good posts where people give an honest and polite treatise on the games your interested in. Not the trash talkers who don't understand why people don't play THEIR game of choice.

The Fanboys (Blind Lovers) tend to play down the flaws and low points of this game... so it goes both ways. Play the game for yourself thats all you can do.
