Lets Talk about The White Lion! And The Squig Herder !

Hi everyone

White Lion

I got my White Lion to lvl 6 and i was wondering ?

Why do i die so ezy ? 

Will it improve or will i just be an ezy Target ?

 

How is the Squig Herder ?

I wonder do they have the same problems not able to take a few hits ?

How are they at higher lvls ?

 

What i really dislike that White Lion has no Range    So that puts me in Melee range, so how am i to be able to take a blow at my lvl ?  Do WL get better in higer lvls ?

The white lion will take damage far better then the squid hurder.  different roles these two play.  SH is ranged dps WL is melee dps.   RDS = light armor, MDS = medium armor.

From the destruction side the White Lion is the mirror of the Mauradar.  The SH is the mirror of the shadow warrior (ranger)

I play a white lion and am around 24 or maybe 25 I forget.  In any event I do quite well in RvR and find the WL a fun class to play.  I just wish the pet worked a little better or was tougher at higher lvls.

White Lion is very gear dependant. Keep at the Scenarios for your Renown items and grind some PQs for those rewards. Once I started to get solid armor around level 8 things started to really kick in. Also consider Toughness talismans for some of your slotted gear and a mix of resist talismans.

WLs deal great damage. In the MMO world as your DPS goes up your survivability goes down. As DPS goes down survivability goes up. Squigs get some skills later on that allows them to escape from trouble. Root and a knockbac. I don't really know about WLs sorry.

Squig hearder is the most underpowerd class in the game, bar none. Comparsions with the shadow warror is laughable. The ONLY place a Squighearder excells or is even truly viable is PvE. They need some major love.

My post came off as a bit negative. I want to say, that Squig herders also happen to be one of the more fun, and packed with character classes in the game as well.

The solution to that would be to hit him. 2 times. Hence the comment of SH being underpowerd. Go play one, then come back.

My main is a Squig Herder.  I just got him up to lvl 13.  I can say with great honesty that I think it's a great class to play.  I do VERY well in senarios.  generally I'm ignored as I find most ppl charge the healers rather than me.  

 

I don't feel particularly underpowered but then I don't spend alot of time cruching numbers.  A class is either fun or it's not.  If I get high marks in senarios and top 3 in contribution in PQ then I'm happy.  Will I die if a WH or a WL get a hold of me?  Yup!  With a decent team though I can hold my own.

First, you are a dpser.  They use to be more weak in defense than the tanks, a little better than range dps, of course.


Just watch the Witch Elves and the Marauders.  You will see they die a lot too, unless they get healed (all these is assuming quality in ranks and such, of coruse).


Second, as a rank 6, you will die more than as rank 11.  For 2 main reasons (although there are more): a) you dont have all the abilites and b) you will know your class better at 11 than at 6.


Thrid, yourself: are you overextending, are you withdrawing when you should, are you taking positions, are you attacking in the correct moment, etc. All this is part of knowing your class, knowing RvR, knowing the enemy and friend classes, knwoing the terrain, etc, etc, etc.
Will it improve or will i just be an ezy Target ?
It will.  WLs are a nice class to play.  Do they need some love? I think so and I think they will get it, in time... Mythic wont start the class balances until later.


But it will improve.


What thigns you can do?


- Get a guild, play with friends.  As any team game, you will notice a huge difference when playing with the same people.


- Read about your class.  Try different things.


- Play, play, play... learn.


How is the Squig Herder ?


It's fun but more weak in defense than the WL.  I enjoy it a LOT.  I have huge fun hehehe


They are, of course, range dps but tey have some nice things for close combat.  I enjoy getting in my big squig and charging the lord room!!!  I know... I am suicidical sometimes.  I dont do it while grouped, although hehehe

They take less hits than WL, imo.


You will discover that there is almost no class that is easy mode right now... they are all tricky and you have to learn to play them.


Of course, all these depends in the enemy too.  If they suck, you will sense you are great in your class.  If they are good, you will get frustrated.


I have tanks too and, if I do things like overextending or attacking when I should not, I die... well, our healers are very good so they may keep me up (LOL) but, if I die, its usually my fault.

My squig is in T2 right now so I cant tell you much about high lvls.  There arent many squigs herders arounf in T4... so I cant tell you even what I see about them when I am playing my T4 toon.

I think they do... opinions doesnt matter mcuh anyway... sorry I cant help more.
Just remember that, imo, the most important thing is how skilled are you in playing the class.

Imo, play Order... they need you!!!!  hehe

Keep playing the Withe Lion up to rank 20, if you can.  By then you will know for sure if you like it or not.  And you will have a more in deep knowledge of the class and the game.  It will let you choose if you want to roll a new toon or stya in the WL.

Good hunt and kill many!!!

EDIT: if you are not in a guild, try to find one.

One key think is knowing how to play your class and what it's roll is.  White Lions are great for harassment.  We do great grabing healers, casters, or witch elves.   My highest kill count is witch elves by over 50% :P 

A squid herder isn't meant for direct conflict.  You are a ranged dps class with a pet to do harrassment.    If a melee gets on you you are likely gonna bite it. 

As a white lion I try to kill squid herders when I can but my primary focus is healers.  I can't always kill a healer but I can force them to focus on healing themselves and letting their group die.

Besides my Kitty loves me..   Even when things goes bad for me, she will defend me!

And when theres nobody there, i dont feel so alone.
