yes.. BC killed WOW.. WOW went from 7M subscribers to 10.7M subscribers
I bet Blizzard hopes Wrath will kill WOW in the same way.
You mean they went from 7M to 10.7M in Gold Farmers..........There is no way this game has grown. They have not put one new server in the game in over a year and half. There are plenty of servers with low pop all the time. You know how many people that play this game two box these days and have multiple accounts. This game may get new accounts but its people that already have an account. This game has lost customers and is not growing in any way.
I really hope these haters and naysayers are trolling. The alternative is a bit scary, at least if they really believe themselves to be both correct and constructive... :-p
TBC expanded the game, and WotLK will, I'm guessing, expand it.
Seriously, what is our problem that you have to come to the forum of a game you loathe in order to spew bile all over the place? A life might be in order.
As for the others who piled on after the OP, the whole "carebear" thing is getting pretty old, don't you think? So you think no game can be fun unless you can frustrate and defeat other humans? Why do I suspect that this is a compensation for feelings of powerlessness in your personal or professional life?
None of the (insert number here) people who play WoW give a rat's %$# about what you think about it. We play it when it seems fun to us, we give it a rest when it doesn't. Many WoW players play other games of varying style and content, from Bioshock to Conan to SWG. In fact the diversity of the playerbase has become a part of the appeal (not a reason to play in itself if the game wasn't fun), because you don't have to hang with the same kind of people over and over again. Your generalizations about such a large group of people possibly reflects a lack of experience socially, and certainly reflects a lack of maturity and an adolescent rhetorical style.
The funny thing is all the haters here will be the first people to play WotLK despite what they say. Really dont know who their trying to fool. i mean you must lead a very sad life if you actually browse the forums and troll about a game that you hate so much. All your doing is flaming, so people will tell you that the game is still good, thereby appeasing your guilty concience for not wanting to play the game.
I mean id avoid something i dont like. You guys cant seem to let go of WoW even when you dont like it. Must be a very sad depressing life that you people are living. Either that or you have some mental issues.
Games are supposed to be a form of entertainment, an escape from the stress and pressures of the real world. If you can get this frustrated from just playing a game, A GAME, your real life must be quite a piece of work. Get help. Fast.
OP as much you want WOTLK to be the death of WoW, its not. WoW is still the #1 MMO and still be will after the new expansion is released.I agree with you on arenas though...blizzard are so obessessed with their game becoming an e-sport with arena. The problem is that arena is about class, spec and gear before skill and arena will never be properly balanced because its designed to be a PvE game first. Not willing to admit arena's low popularity, they are basically forcing anyone who wants pvp gear to need arena points, which will create more fodder for top arena teams to fight and get their gear, although blizzard says its "to encourage people to experience different parts of the game" yeah right.

I really think they need to scrap arena altogether. WOTLK is just going to make the game more popular.
I agree about Arenas being too 'important'. But the reason they are isn't because of esport. The devs have commented on this the last few weeks.
Basically it comes down to BGs not having any way to prove a good player. You can be a very bad player and still win very often in BGs. With the ladder system in Arena.. it is much easier for there to be a definitive 'winning' player.
The devs said one of the very first things they are going to work on after Wraith launches is a way to determine who the 'good' players are in BGs so they can reward those players with top level pvp gear. The way BGs are now.. you really can't reward the best gear for mediocre play.
I would agree with this post, but I simply cannot.
It may perhaps seem like a child's game now, (and I HATE the cartoon graphics, let me tell ya...), but the thing is, WoW has been online for almost 4 years now, and Blizzard has been building on the original game ten fold. While it might seem a good idea to play another game, I can't because it doesn't have 4+ years of development behind it; meaning most all of those game lack content. WoW has tons of things to do, especially with the new Achievements system in play. One of the reasons I quit Warhammer was because of this. All there is do in that game is level, and pvp. Any MMORPG I play, I'm always looking for freedom in the game, and tons of features/content. No game out right now can compare to the magnitude of present-day World of Warcraft. With Lich King around the corner, the game is just unstoppable, they keep adding more and more and more and people continue playing it. The masses want things to do, and Blizzard is always keeping it fresh, that's why people flock to that game.

Bravo ...
If I have to put it bluntly, the haters simply proved one thing, sour losers. They can't enjoy the game, or they cannot stand tall in the game, BUT they cannot bear the idea of others enjoying it..
I think the official forums came up with the best response possible to this:
