Yes, I tried it for a couple of weeks. It was promising at first but then it came a boring scenario grind after level 20.

I liked scenarios because they remind me of GW but unlike in GW, these WAR scenarios give you nothing but xp, which basically makes it a grind. People say tier 4 RvR is going to be much better but I highly doubt it. I have participated in RvR battles a couple of times and I just don't think it will be that different in tier 4. Besides I hate these games where you have to grind for weeks (pve or pvp) before you get to endgame which supposedly is awesome.

like AoC, WAR has a big problem with server populations. I played on one of the most populated servers but there was still a lack of players in the open world because everyone was playing scenarios. And if you want big RvR battles at non-prime time, just forget it.

Also there was this server lag issue, which made game unplayable. Don't know if they have fixed it or not.

I might try WAR again later but according to what I saw, I wouldn't recommend WAR to my friends.

Been playing since June and not planning on stopping anytime soon

Currently this is the only game I play - I've done multiple games at one time before, but now I need to save my pennies. (and besides - one game at a time is more immersive).

Agreed after the 20th im not resubbing.

I wont be wasting 50 bucks on mmo's at anymore just to try them either.Off line games and rpg's dont have you kill 30 of something to get a piece of armor.Better mmo's need to be made to evolve the genre.

Next games:Deadspace and FO3 get my money.

    What is your physical limit?

I too played GW for over 2k hrs on my PvE necro most of that time was spent in HA. I liked the fact that it was all skill based, but sadly without being in a good guild or winning Halls once in awhile it got borning because it was the same thing over and over again. Over the course of 2yrs I took probably 3 breaks each lasting at least 2months before playing again. Personally, I think HA in GW is very similar to WARs scenarios; however, the difference is that if you stop playing scenarios you'll find yourself at a disadvantage. Thats why I'm not going to pay to play WAR.

I agree with some of the posters here, I do thing that FC should add a guild ladder system.

Good idea. Put it in suggestions forum in AoC. I put one there myself that got voted into the game. Kind of really neat when you see your stuff in the game

You already admitted you came here because you were sent on a fanboi mission.

So calling others a troll is a little ironic, isn't it?

You can go back to the AoC forums and let wrgpost and Funcom know that yes indeed there are many here who do not like them. And you can furthermore let them know that if the question as to "Why?" needs to be answered, they only need to look in a mirror.

Good luck with the results of this poll BearShammy, and welcome to the AoC forums.

By the way, where did you hear that few players on this specific forum don't play the game?

Is it safe to say to that you also post on the AoC forums? Many of us still have active accounts, so it would be nice to throw you a PM now and again on the official forums!

Howdy... I do not post in the AoC forums, but I read them quite often. I read about MMORPG recently in a player post just like a few days ago. I find this forum interesting in fact as it covers so many games, but in general there is less content here than AoC forums.

  • ZorvanZorvan Member CommonPosts: 8,912

What's with the title change, Bearshammy? Found out it's easier to quit while your ahead than it is to try to get past disgruntled customers of a failing company?

  • BearShammyBearShammy Member Posts: 240

OK. I asked to close this post now as today it is exactly one month since Patch 2.0 was introduced (or is it one day over??). The sum up is as follows:

38.6% of the people posting here in AoC is actually playing the game right now

61.4% is not playing the game but played it before patch 2.0 sometime. Approximately 29% of these quit in the early days even before most of the patching this summer started.

The poll is what it is and I guess it kind of confirm what I heard, AoC forums in MMORPG has indeed a majority of posters that is not playing the game. That could be usefull to know for any people reading these forums. It's going to be easier to find more information on the latest stuff in the official AoC forums forums.ageofconan.com/index.php. This forum is however still valuable, if you can strear clear of most trollposts, as there are many very experienced MMOers residing in this forum. many of them played AoC Alts to 80 and beyond before deciding to put their sub on hold.

Thanks for participating in this poll.

Oh I know. The culture armor coming into the game and the way they adding it into the game are all my ideas. Sadly, people seem not to believe me even when I show them my post of suggestions.

No, I don't troll people or play the fanyboy. I admit the game has failings. The reason I'm posting here is to try to give people an opinion from a person who is still playing the game in order to counter the negitive post on these forums from people who think they are still in the know, but stopped playing the game 2months in.

And what about Funcoms lies, deceptions, and at times downright shady dealings when it came to customers? Did patch 2.0 suddenly remove all that? Did it make the boo-boo go away?

No, it didn't. And we don't have to be playing now to inform people of funcoms conduct.

Getting rid of Gaute was a start, but they're nowhere near the finish line yet.

I am going to start playing again sooner or later.   Just waiting for a few bugs to get fixed.

Bah going to have to find a guild again... hehe

I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

I see  people say they "lied" all the time. I can see some of the things they "lied" about such as dx10 and PvP levels, but everything else were concepts and ideas, not promises from the way I see it.

That's too bad, but at least we can drop you a PM here from time to time!

I know a few people who play on Scourge, what's the name of your guild there? Also, you'd do the AoC Scourge forum a huge favor by ensuring that the guild listing sticky remains up to date.

Anyhow, let me know the name your guild as it should not be too tough to run into you all. I'll be visiting with some friends on Sunday and try to swing by and say hello to you and your guildies.

Ok, one example. They repeatedly said AoC is a "PvP game" with sieges with "hundreds and hundreds of players". You are saying this is not a lie, it's a "concept"? Haha, give me a break..

There are many other examples where FC blatantly LIED in order to get more people to preorder. That is not a "concept" it's false advertising.

They also said all that under Gaute's leadership. They said a lot of stupid crap when he was calling the shots. That problem has been dealt with.  At some point people have to move on. Let the conversation evolve.

As for lying about dx10, they were late in making an announcement, however it was stated clearly the day before the U.S. launch (3 days before Europe's) Dx10 was a no go.  That's the problem here people exaggerate the situation to make it sound worse than it was.

The rest of their PR blunders were mostly over hyping their features, which is common practice in the entertainment industry as a whole. Case in point: Hundreds of players sieging?  48+48= 96 4 shy of a hundred. Unless of course what you're referring to is massive sieging which was talked about. How long ago? When there's problems with 48+48, why would they add a bigger problem to the mix?

Here's just one of many articles you can find on Dx10. Late, but before launch. Who's decision would that have been ? Hmmm...

People are on these forums are so naive..

They were late in making an announcement? You know why that is? They knew that if they announced it earlier, many people would not preorder. Dropping FX10 is a major decision, and decisions like that are not made couple of days or couple of weeks before launch. They knew months beforehand but choose not to tell customers that. I just don't understand how FC could be so dishonest. It's totally unacceptable. And this is why people are upset.

Now many months after launch, there is still no date set for DX10. That is really bad. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see DX10 ever. And if we get it.. prepare for a bugfest.

I guess you weren't in beta just weeks before the launch when some player accidentally found out that sieges were going to be 48vs.48? People on the beta forums went nuts! Everyone felt like betrayed by FC and many canceled preorders. If you think 48.vs48 is even remotely same as "hundreds and hundreds of players" then you are beyond all hope.

And don't try to blame all on Gaute, he's just a scapegoat. There are many more rats in that sinking ship called FC, who made all major decisions with Gaute.

The difference between you and me, is that you take what they give you, but I demand good service, quality and honesty.

I just like the facts to be represented. That part about Dx10 was in response to the poster above you. What do you mean I take what they give me? That's all you're ever going to get. Besides it's kind of hard to be taking anything or giving them anything when you're not subscribed, glad to see you jump to conclusions.

As for the part in red, that was during beta was it not? Has nothing to do with the topic, again it was common knowledge before launch.  You said yourself those who had a problem with it,  had a chance to cancel their pre-orders. No harm no foul.

Sorry man the buck stopped with gaute he was the GD, dropping anything and announcing it would be up to him, he sets the priorities. Think what you want about why they didn't announce it sooner, i call it fear. You want to call it deception, go right ahead.

Naive would imply I was believing spin, what I linked (the same subject you hilighted) was a fact. I didn't give an opinion on whether it was a good decision. Besides, EE said himself over the summer. "We're now getting started on the Dx-10 client, which will be unveiled in Leipzig". That says all you need to know.

I'm sorry but the amount of viral marketing in these threads just make me sick

The OP only made the poll so he could go off and say "oh all the haters of the game who post don't play the game, so their opinion doesn't count"

Arguing with you is painful, you know that, right?

About the red part. My point was:

    1. Without that one guy in beta who found the 48vs48 information, we wouldn't have know about it until launch. FC was not planning to tell us and correct their previous "hundreds vs. hundreds" statement. So they are liers.

    2. Seeing the discussion in beta forums, it was a really big deal for a lot of players, including myself. Maybe for you it's "no big deal" but like I said, you take what they give you. "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

That's all the time I have to reply. I need to go eat.

Could that possibly be because you only respond to a single section of a post?

You can be as condescending as you please, that's fine with me.  You and I disagree, on this issue. However, when there's an outcome like the above, how do you know it's not going to be announced? Obviously it didn't need to be, it saved them the hassle. I'm sure it also opened a can of worms, these things always do.

Again you must have missed the part about I don't play, so no I'm not asking for seconds right  now. Thanks though, I appreciate the offer.

    Previous MMORPG's

Star Wars Galaxies - played this for a very long time and it was my first ever MMORPG, quit 3-6 months after NGE went live.

Guild Wars - Played for a while, passed the time, got bored really easilly.

Vanguard - Played for a month, what a waste of money, couldn't do anything due to griefers and gankers, can't comment on bugs as i didn't experience any (played before the server changes)

Lord of the Rings Online - Played for a year before realising it's the same old junk, reach max level then raid or PvP..  boring..

City of Heroes/Villains - finding the game enjoyable but most likely will find it the same old thing when i reach max level one day, account currently unused due to finances and getting some mates to play in new year.

WoW - did the trial, saw nothing but abuse every day of it, some bad apples in there and some really bad attitudes, game itself appeals to some and i know a few good friends playing who enjoy it but it's the same old grind/raid/pvp in the end. boring.

Pre-Ordered Age of Conan after reading it's features, sounded refreshing to the genre, cancelled pre-order after lots of "it's a PvP game" rumours but then re-Pre-Ordered thinking it's features outwayed the PvP aspects. Found the game to be a good change of scenery and lore, pity non of the features i was looking forward to ever made it, complex crafting??? what a joke and yet another waste of money.
