Comming back, SB pilot worth it?

legoklegok Member Posts: 49

Hello fellow gamers, im a ... recurring eve player, hoping to come back to eve again, but this time i have a particular intrest in doing something specific.

I want to fly around in a SB ( nemesis to be exact ), i havent played in a lil more then a year, and back then i rly didnt used it much, was fucusing on getting skills rdy to use it properly, i think i have all the skills to fit it properly, and fly it, save from a wide array of missle skills, ( just the basic ones if i remember correctly, and enough to use crusier missles)

Now what i would want is to go pvp and hunt for opportunities to do some seriues dmg and kill unsuspecting travelers and what not, bascily been anoyying to someone else ( what a jerk huh? )

Anyway i have the idea that for actually killing ppl in 0.0, i would need a pack of SB's or just a small group and mee being a supporter, am i right or wrong?

Most importantly what would be a SB pilot best fit, a pirate corp or a corp protecting their sectors?

Another question, have there been any improvements to SB, since well been honest, i know that they never were such a great ship in most situations and were more of a fancy ship, at least back when i played.

You would need a pack and I would suggest using the Celestis (sensor dampeners) and/or the Vexor (drones). I really like the bonuses on these two ships. There great for PVP and cheap.

A Nemesis is about 15 mil and could be used to scout and then call in friends you would then back up. I would try to fit it with sensor dampeners or energy drain, but I am not sure of the CPU/PWR grid requirements as it relates to the Nemesis. I don't really think it could do much else though, other than scout and drop bombs.

If it was me, I would just go with the cruisers. The two mentioned can together bring drones, sensor dampeners, and missiles/ blasters down on targets, and there cheap too replace. Plus, your in the middle of the action. Just my 2 cents, I've never flown covert ops.

I do know this though, a covert ops ship in direct PVP would get slaughtered and there not cheap to buy and fit.

They fiddled with them a bit but no more, they're still as useless/specialized as ever. But then, if they WOULD make them useful they'd be massively overpowered so that's never going to happen.

However, the introduction of the Black Ops does add some spice to the whole cloaking ship business even though in it's current form it's severely flawed. They stated they're working on making the black ops more useful and then you could 'infiltrate enemy lines' with blackops, recons and bombers and have some fun. Bombers would bring the dps while recons hold down a target but that's NOT anywhere near a solo option, only for highly specialized groups/tactics with tons of teamwork and a very specific purpose.

In general, as it has always been, use something else.

Thank you for the answers fellas, now i got a couple more, in all honesty, can you think finding such a group of minded players is actually a realisitc goal for me?, like say find 5-10 ppl whit the idea in mind.

I know its a really dificult and subjective question/answer, but its rly what i would like to do and still hessitating on it.

You could say, well dont find em, look for em and make a group, but that could consume to much time, wich i rly dont have this months, neither the... steam? to do so.

If you train real hard, you can camp enemy jumpbridges in 0.0 and pop unsuspecting travellers. A Stealthbomber can instapop a non-moving frigate, and people on jumpbridges usually don't move.

It's very hard, though. You often only have about 8-12 seconds before the first posgun (usually faction small autocannons or rails) lock you and turn your t2 bomber into a nice t2 wreck.

You'll only find those in highly specialized corps who actually know what they're doing and have a specific goal in mind, most of the time that's not something you just stroll into. Alliances might/do/will have specialists for that so if you get into a proper PVP alliance and 'work your way up' then yes, that might happen.

It wouldn't be something for me to focus on because it's SO specialized, I'd keep it as a sidegoal or something like that. Find a group of good PVPers who like tactics over blunt force and then at some point they might start doing the black ops thing.

Actually stealth bombers are quite useful. Get into an alliance that knows what it's doing and they can be deadly. Even just a few (2-3) can wreck a lot of havoc. A lone stealth bomber can actually kill cruisers if piloted wisely. They are great for taking out industrials, miners and people who are unwise enough to rat in cruisers in 0.0. I've even seen a stealth bomber take out ratting battlecruisers... though that scenario is pretty unusual.... BC got tackled by rats and didn't kill them in time. SB killed him before he could get away.

Two working together can take down just about any cruiser in the game and if you get a pack of them working together they're downright evil.

It does take some dedication to learn to pilot them WELL. Fly cheaply fitted ones till you start to get the hang of it. I personally prefer recons but I know several very good stealth bomber pilots as well.

My original plan was to train SB so I could fly one alon with my buddy that had one. Problem was I'm Gallente and training for cruise missiles was a bit too far away from what I can normally utilize

  • legoklegok Member Posts: 49

Im gallente as well mate, i have alot of drone skills, all of em ( no fighters ) actually and most at 4-5, so going for missiles wasnt such a big deal since i rly never spent to much on gunnery and the like.

But still i remember not havign a wide array of missile skills... yet ;)
