Like everyone else i have followed this game for quite a while and im totally hyped about DF.
Soo i read about upcomming beta date and a release in 2008.I have seen the 30min video. I read about their inhouse beta with professionals and their current hardware beta. The way they do this is very awkard and not very realistic but "whats floats their boat".
My biggest concerns are; How are they going to test and fix netcode, login, account register and all those hundred glitches that comes up when 10 000 ppl are beta testing? In...ca 2 months? Comparing a inhouse beta with a public one seems very...naive?
Am i to..realistic? Sorry if i am beating a dead horse here.

You are right to wonder. Aventurine claims DF have been in a beta since 2007. And mosts of the issues have been handled alredy. It could be one reason why it have taken so long?
But we shouldent worry. Today its ok to launch a MMO and then deal with all issues. Atleast for the big MMO companys.
It has to do alot with simulating actullal people but it has to be as stressful as real people playing too there is ways to do this but as far as i know no mmo company has tried it (no i dont know the ways but i know there is a way)
I agree, it is not the way other MMO companies do things.
But then again Aventurine is no ordinary developer.
Until 2 months ago (after 7 years in developement) almost everyone thought the game didn't even existed, me included.
And although Aventurine new all the vaporware accusations in every forum possible, they couldn't be arsed to provide any proof that the game existed, until 2 months ago.
They worked hard on the game and ignored everything else was going on around the game.
So I won't be surprised if in few weeks Tasos will surprise us and announce an open Beta and release for Xmas.
That's the way Aventurine make business, yes it is weird but who knows, it might just work, and I won't be surprised if DF will be a success.
350K subscribers for me is a success for this kind of game, and if they do the right things they can easily get to that kind of numbers, the market is much bigger now than 1999 when UO has been released.
But I understand people diffidence, I am not exactly convinced 100% that they can release the game before the end of 2008.
We have to wait and see for that.
even if they dont because of osme issues as long as they have public beta going i dont think anyones going to be to mad at them
All the big companies except Blizzard thrash their game half ready out to the market $OE does this, Funcom you name it, so no worry here.
It is the norm for MMO today to launch the way you describe as concern.

$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!
"There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Raph Koster (parted $OE)
In my opinion... WAR and LoTRo were just as polished and complete as WoW was at release. So there are other MMOs that do release in a very stable and polished state. Hopefully that will be the standard that Darkfall will either equal or exceed.
