Hmm, EQ2 = WoW?

Yes, I'm sure the gameplay will be different, but from these screenshots, I'm not so sure that these will be totally different games, except for maybe the storylines and environment setting. Anyone else kinda bothered about this?

Now that is just damn disturbing.
At 1st glance they looked the same to me i could not tell the difference.Either its a very very bad coincidence or they are looking at each others work.
Just goes to show ya how cookie cutter the mmo's(particularly the fantasy genre)have become if we cant tell the difference based upon the way they look.These 2 games are so overhyped its like a bad movie waiting to happen.
Now all both companies need is for Ben Affleck to endorse one and Jennifer Lopez the other.

EQ2 = Fantasy, WoW = Fantasy, so yes, there is going to be some degree of overlap. That is not to say however that the games will be the same, or even similar. Simply spent 15 minutes reading the faqs about both games to see how different they are.
If one can believe that WoW has for example the 'best' interface, then it makes sense that other games may want to copy/emulate it. Same goes with EQ2. Just because the two games may at times look similar means a whole lot of nothing.

I just never could understand why so many people like the WoW graphics?

Wife messed around in Phase one Beta and it just didnt appeal to her or me...I think the game has some depth (not a whole lot like everyone's thinking) but the graphics...why are people ooing and ahhing over them.
While I don't like EQ2 either, I must say, the graphics are on par with today's "wants"....

Please, tell me how they even relate to each other in graphics, environment, and how the characters look. It is totally different, unless if there is some ultra-low settings that makes everything look like crap.

Actually, I think he was pointing out the similarity of the gameplay. You can't compare a single high res picture with a picture of gameplay. And you have to admit, EQ2 hasn't put out hardly any gameplay pictures, just a bunch of single high quality, no interface, no apparent gameplay pictures.

Ok, quit trying to compare them by some simple screenshots.. I'm sure most of you have read up on both games, so right there you see the games are ..diifferent.. . Still, both games are in the same genre, have the same idea (mythical world with traditional camera settings[EQ, DAoC, AC, AC2, etc] based on a central character fighting hostile mobs that look uglier than Mick Jagger) and as a result we have the occasional similar screenshot. So, since we have stumbled across this catastrophe, we'll bring ourselves to the conclusion that these games are identical to each other and we should all hug and forget the constant battle as to which is better.

My guess is that 70% of the screenshots we have seens for EQ2 are not taken in-game and directly posted. And of the ones that are, perhaps maybe someone with a POS computer is sending them? (ie. ign screenshots that got you all scratching your head.) I'm going to laugh when EQ2 is released and those who don't have a high-end computer are going to crank the graphics down to resist that lagfest and it looks no better than WoW.

these are in-game pictures taken as captures, which goes to make some believe that the eq2 movie was pre-rendered instead of in gameplay.
Please don't automatically jump to conclusions without reading the threads.

I think the point is we really need to see what EQ2 looks like in-game with the best video card and processor.
For all you know, the pictures you see at IGN could be taken by some GeForce FX5200. Lol.
