I don't really think it's professional for someone in his position to vent about such things. Honestly, no matter how sad it sounds, who cares?

His reactions since the launch of War gives the impression of an immature character and this interview only reinforces this image.
At least with that Paul guy you KNOW it's acted, but I think MJ is not even acting.

I don't know what's worse, death threats over a game or the fact the threats weren't pointed at GOA (GOA killed DAoC in Europe, not Mark)

If someone gets SO worked up about an MMO to the point where they start issueing death threats to devs, then its time they stopped playing and re-evaluated their place in reality.
Seriously, its time to consider a padded cell if you feel THAT passionate about an MMO to the point where you think a dev should die over it. That's the sort of thinking that caused John Lennon to get shot.

The quote in my sig comes from a guy higher up the EA ladder than Mark Jacobs will ever be. You decide which game might have been "going to be shut down" based on that.

There been murder over mmo's though. One idiot down in Shanghai/China murdered his friend cause he sold his ingame weapon to some dude in Legend of Miir 3 and denied paying him back. That is the ultimate PK though

Maybe this was why they were not crediting everyone who participated in making their games to save them from abuse? Or is this the real reason Jacobs doesn't want official forums?
When your in the service industry you have to accept there will be people who will do this, and it's how you carry yourself will reflect on your peers. Moaning about it won't solve it - gettin EA to get an office shrink might.
Maybe he brings this to light now after the screw up and looking bad in responses to the WoW dev comments - time to bring out the sympathy vote on cue?

With regards to MJ, nope, sorry folks, I think he is a real pudding. He can't set the standard by flaming competitors and then expect other people to get rose petals himself (even though the individuals that bug him is just very disapointed WAR gamers) . It's Karma, what comes around goes around.
To threaten somebody on their life is always really FCUK upped, but come on, the guy don't have to collaps like this. If I was going to shit my pants every time somebody threatened me in my job, I wound soon be one piss and poop stinking Son of a Bitch. That's just too weak. Mark, If your whimping is not another sick marketig ploy I'd say, grow a FCUKing backbone!!
People on the Internet are ridiculous. What baffles me is that people can be quite mature and friendly adults, working on their job as any normal person, but turn into immature, whining bastars when they go to an Internet forum, and stoop as low as making death threats on developers. I hope Mark and other developers have gotten to the point where they can just laugh at this stuff rather than letting it get to them. Mark is a veteran by now, at least.
It's no wonder that the world looks like this. Blow up the internet and destroy all computers and noone has to be angry over those games, they seem to be more trouble for everyone then enjoyment.

some people play to mutch wow, it's shows on there attitude and behaviour..
you can almost look at a person these days, and say.. yep hes a wow player.. because the way they behave.. wow is nothing else than bad influence.. not the game itself but the community..
and i notised it on myself too, the first time happend when i logged into wow whas that i became bitter and angry..
warhammer cured my angryness, and now im a really happy person..
