Fact is this, it's a GAME. The developers should take action before it gets to the law. These 2 kids should have been banned and the boy have his things returned to him. If it's a matter of the court system showing them it's not ok to 'bully' others in games, than let's take it another step. Let's start giving community service to those who setup shops in-game on lineage 2 for example wanting 1,000,000 adena for a feather, and someone accidentally buying it thinking it was 1,000 adena. That's being bullied! No, the kid was stupid enough to buy it. It's that simple. I blame the kid here. Maybe I need to get more details on the boy being 'coerced' into giving the items to the 2 other boys, LOL.
Unless they are holding him at gunpoint or making threats to his life than that doesn't exactly mean he was 'coerced'. I think this case is retarded and if mmorpg's starting making laws to the games than there would be SO MANY cases out there. Part of the game sometimes is dealing and staying away from scammers and thiefs. The game is a hobby. Even though precious time is spent on games they are still games and should be treated as such. Especially when it's against the law in just about every game to sell anything in the game for actual real world money because it's the property of that company, not the player.
It wasn't actually the players property anyways, it was the company who owned the stolen goods. Paypal won't even help you in cases where it's virtual items, even though that's different all I'm saying is they have a point. Gaming is gaming. Even though games are a multi billion dollar operation now...well to tbh if the kid was paying a monthly fee it could be a LITTLE different. But I still think until I get more details that the kid is to blame for actually giving the items up. If someone threatens me online etc... I will tell them to stfu and ignore them. In this case, did the 2 boys actually know this boy in real life?
so how far is this from virtual lives being considered "of value". murder charges for griefers??? being charged for taking a "virtual life". who can't see that this opens a can of worms thats better left alone?
Funny you should ask . Just saw this article yesterday.
reminds me of long ago, when i was evil and i would trick players of UO into giving me their house deeds because I could "dupe them using linux", as I ran away laughing to the bank. Wonder how many years in prison I would have gotten back in the day, because it took players months to save up for these house deeds and I got about 5 of them doing this.
You are a pretty good conman and I can't really sympathies with your victims because they were agreeing to do something that was against the EULA.
they wanted to have some special item which you have to buy with real money, so they are under the law of goods because he payed for them. That's why they got punished by the dutch law...
But dont think dutch people are bad now, cuz we have cheap drugs!
Originally posted by MarleVVLLIf Christianity is the following of Christ, His words and His leadership, then Christianity is the right way forward. Jesus is the One who claimed to be THE Truth and who possesses all wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:4-5) Though in Christianity many may say or do goofy things, Christ is the Faithful Witness so that is my cornerstone. When I made that decision, the world and all of its religions and philosophies suddenly became clear as it is all of Him, through Him, to Him and for Him.
"christianity" is NOT about 'following Christ' !! 1. The new testament (nt) was a fabrication of the byzantine imperial empire using fraud "church leaders" to cherry pick "scriptures" most of which were ANONYMOUS (i.e. all four Gospels are anonymous, none of them were written by the person named in each title); more than half the nt is about saul's (renamed paul) dogma; he was neither a disciple of Christ, nor a prophet from G, yet from his own words he claimed to be so. The authentic actual Disciples of Christ (before EIGHT were murdered by these same roman/byzantines that fabricated the nt and murdered Christ) actively pursued saul through his "ministry to the gentiles" proclaiming saul did NOT speak for the Jerusalem 'church' (followers of the Nazarene, and adherants to the jew religious sect the WAY)
2. Christ's name was Yehoshua(Yod, hey, vav, shin, ayin)/Yeshua(Yod, shin, vav, ayin) (aramaic) in english that would be pronounced Joshua. Jesus was barAbas' name, you know the guy the jews scammed others to proclaim instead of Yeshua to be set free. Like the romans stole the greek gods and renamed them, they also stole saul's hijacked version of the WAY edited out most of the jew stuff (eg. Torah Law mandates [sabbath, idols, ect]) and renamed Yeshua to iesu (pronounced yeh-soo) from the greek iesous (pronounced ee-ay-sooce).
John 19:19 And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. v20. Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Hebrew: Yeshua haNotzri Melech haYehudim; Greek: Iesous ho Nazoraios ho Basileus ton Ioudaion; Latin: Iesu Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum (INRI)
3. Most ALL of modern nt "christianity" by following saul's dogma has nothing to do with actually 'following Christ's teachings.' Much of the nt showed up 30 to 130 years AFTER the Resurrection (33AD), and most of that is anonymous. Most modern nt "christians" follow saul's dogma. (faith/grace/atonement/trinity/sunday sabbath, gezeus) And intentionally misrepresent that dogma as authentic teachings of Christ.

Dont know if its been mentioned already but they beat the kid up and tortured him to force him to give them the items...

There ends the sandbox and player self regulated game model.
Way to confuse real life with virtual life.
This makes the story completely different, doesn't it?

burn them
Damn!
If this is true, I must be a terrible criminal/swindler/murderer on the loose!
Imagine if those kinds of laws apply to Darkfall as well.
Pixel crack theft shouldn't be considered punishable by law, it's just code ffs!
