Hey guys,
I'm really interested in EVE and it's vast possibilities. I might subscribe if someone could give me some info on businessman career in eve. How is it like? Is it possible to make a living that way? All kind of info would be amazing.
Cheers.

Eve is indeed a very vast game
As a Businessman potential, there a many avenues to gain isk(credits of the Eve Universe) possibilities.
Ship Building, Mining, Mineral, Goods Trading, and others, but, you must remember the game is centered around pvp action, so, if you can become the sole provider of certain alliances for ships and other materials, then you'll go a long way.
Point in case, I made over 4.3 bill isk in one day buy buying Zydrine several months beforehand, then selling it at a very lucrative price when it went up.
but, I just got lucky in that case, several times I broke even in my endeavours.
The richest and most famous players in Eve are all traders and industrialists. They are usually the wealthiest persons in the game.
So yes, you can have a lot of fun and success as a trader and industrialist in eve, it does have the most complex market of all computer games currently.
It is also pretty risky, though. There are already cartels, and people might get upset if you threaten their bussines and hire mercs, or use their tremendous amount of capital to force you into a price war. Nothing for me, though. I prefer the comparatively simple pvp/pve-part..
There is so much economy/business stuff in EvE that it can be overwhelming as a beginner. I know a couple people who started out mining and got into the business end of it... so that might be a good place to start. Like the other posters said, there are thousands of players who do nothing but play the market and run their own businesses.
Thanks alot for the info guys! I think I'm gonna give into the temptation and try this game out. A chance to play a game that has a complex player-run economy is just so damn compelling
You can play on a trial account and then upgrade that if you like the game. All you would be wasteing is some temporary hard disk space.

Not totally true
and we found out the other day there is a cap on your wallet too, the guy who runs my corp for me maxed out his ISKwallet and bought the whole corp new ships, fully kitted out and 60day GTC's
and he's a titan pilot pirate
What's the ISK cap then?

RMT'ing is bad , shame on you !
Back to topic, yes you can make a very healthy living as a trader / industrialist , but it takes time and you need a start capital to start on that, but gimme your name and i will give you your first 10 mill.
List of SOE lies
Trading is awsome in eve. It is what got me hooked, now im off doing a little bit of everything with my profits.
I play/ ed eve for combat (even tho its the lamest in all mmos) but i made my money trading. its so easy buy a few items here sell therem there make 50-100% profit, you just increased you money by ten times in 2 hours.

check out eve university, they probably still have their trading type classes.
also check out market discussions on the official forums. there can be a lot of drivel there; but occasionally you find some good information.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
