Have you phoned them up to see if anything is going on in your area, or at least for credit for the outage?

Players in AO for the last couple days have been complaining of getting disconnects and major lag ( compared to normal everyday AO lag ) and all of them were using Comcast. Glad I don't use them for the simple fact I like having unlimited internet instead of a capped allotment per month, as well as deliberate throttling of legitimate applications (torrents).

No I havent phoned them yet, I was just hoping the night before was just a fluke. But I will be calling them tomorrow to see what is up.

Yeah I don't like Comcast at all Ive already had troubles with them before, thinking of switching. If there is fiber optic in my area im going with that. 20mbps is sounding lovely to me right now. lol

I use Comcast and while they do have a cap, it's way out of the reach of most people using it for non-comercial uses. It's 250GBs a month for christ's sake, there's no way you could reach 250GBs/month unless you're doing some kind of...well, unless you're sending out mass e-mail's, or seeding large torrents of HD quality video (I suppose even normal video seeding could get you close). But seriously, there are VERY few non-commercial users who will ever even come close to hitting the cap. Lets be realistic here.

As for them throttling torrents and other applications, they've already had thier wrist slapped for doing that and (supposedely) have stopped. Of course, Comcast, along w/ Ma-bell (Verizon), AT&T, and others are the ones leading the crusade against Net-neutrality, but really all the major providers are entagled in that and it's virtually impossible to find a carrier in the US to give your money to that is for Net-neutrality.

    Back on topic....

I have Comcast (NJ), can't say that I have noticed any problems the last few days. I will say that I haven't been on during peak-hours the last two days, so that probably doesn't help much, but during late-night, early-morning hours my connection has been fine.

I'd give em a call and see if there are any problems in the area. Maybe a line is down somewhere, or something of that nature. If you call and really raise a fuss, and you don't have a total asshat CS-rep, you may be able to get credit for the time you've been having problems. They will resist, of course, but keep at it and they'll credit your account.

I'm being very realistic. One of the ways to hit that 250 gig cap is if you watch alot of streaming movies and video. This was even referenced by Comcast itself. And there are ALOT of people who do just that, including myself. Add to that having to share bandwidth with everyone else in the neighborhood compared to having a dedicated service, and the highest prices to pay for it, and Comcast just loses my interest.

Yeah, they had their wrist slapped because what they were doing was illegal, placing a cap on peoples bandwidth at their own discretion but refusing to tell people what exactly that cap was. When they got "slapped", they decided to make the official 250 gig cap. And they still throttle torrents, which is why they are being sued by BitTorrent and other legitimate services right now.Which makes it a bitch when you're trying to shoot large LEGAL (i.e. not pirated ) files to multiple people without making them all download from an FTP.

    Back on topic,,,,,,,,,,,

I live in the Midwest area, and yest for two nights now have been having trouble with it (Comcrap) shutting down , lagging along and so forth.

It has almost always been really late at night (between 2am and say 5 am) so I really doubt its a network neighborhood traffic issue.

Eh I dont pay the bill for it my roomate does, so I cant complain too much I suppose

So I guess it was either my cable modem was dying on me or comcast was cutting off my internet to making me think something was wrong in order to get a new modem.  I wouldn't put it past Comcast to do the the 2nd of the two. lol

It just don't make sense when it works fine in the daytime but at night it acted up.  But now that I have the new modem its hasent acted up since.
