Atlantica Online, developed by nDoors, provides a great and unique gaming experience that separates it from the other typical online games. What makes it different from other hack and slash mindless grinding mmo is its turn based battles and the need for tactics and strategies

First, players must create their main character. Players can choose from several generic-sounding archetypes: Sword, Spear, Axe, Gun, Bow, Cannon and Staff. There are several different customizations available. Although the range is not that extensive, equipping items will change a character's look which leads to different appearances.

But the most important aspect of any MMO is combat or battle system. Combat is turn-based and timed about 30 seconds each turn.

And that is what makes Atlantica different.

   

The player's team involves the main character as well as up to 8 other mercenaries that are up for hire. When you first start out, you are limited to only yourself and 3 other mercenaries and you can use an additional mercenary every ten levels until level 50 where you can have the maximum number of mercenaries.

There are lots of different mercenaries, as such there will never be any cookie cutter build or the best build, any team can work as long as they are used properly, which brings me to the next point – Strategy.

Whether it is against regular monsters or another player, there is always a need some type of strategy to win in the battle, be it stunning, freezing, aoe, debuffs, buffs, etc.

There are times you would cry because some boss rips through you. But as you go in again with another strategy in mind, you might find yourself killing the boss this time round. There are times you need to rethink about your next move as the time runs out or times you need to abandon your original idea and that is the beauty of this turn based game. Be a strategist.

Besides fighting monsters, you might want to test your skills against other players. There is a free league where anyone may join and fight others. Rewards included coin shards which can be exhanged for gold. The one who won the match receives a higher reward

players can win or lose against others that have up to a 10 level difference depending on their strategies.

Besides battle system, Atlantica Online has other interesting aspects, such as crafting, fishing, treasure hunting, being mayor of a town. Yes, you can control a town, set taxes and collect gold. So what are you waiting for?

And don't worry; Atlantica has an easy tutorial quest line to help you learn the basics, so it's easy to get into the hang of things if you are new to online gaming.

And did I mention Atlantica Online host events regularly where you can win prizes and cash (real world money not in-game gold). In fact, I'm a winner of Logitech G5 mouse.

I really do like Atlantica online. I love turned based MMORPGs and I find Atlantica Online a welcome break from the "Norm".
