I will start by saying me and my 5 real life friends quit the game 2-3 weeks back and none of us are currently playing any MMORPG's or were before we started playing WAR. We've pretty much played 90% of the popular MMORPG's ever made with the ones keeping our attention the most being EQ1, DAOC and WOW.
The following is what you can expect from WAR:
1) REALLY fun pvp in the only T1 scenario that people play. This will take you to lvl 12 with the few quests you do and no public quests because noone is doing them.
2) Fun pvp in the only T2 scenario that people play. This will take you to lvl 22 with maybe a few quests and no public quests because they're completely barren.
3) When you hit 22 chances are you will start to get worn out doing the scenario grind. At this point you probably already have a few alt characters that either never made it out of T1 or just made it out of T1.
4) You start to realize that you're losing interest in the game b/c it's FAR too much of a scenario grind to make it to 40, the experience you get for completing quests makes you feel like you were ripped off and wasted your time and noone is doing public quests...Also, there is NO word about any worthwhile dungeon runs to do.
Basically, this game was designed around PVP. However, the way it's implemented NOONE does world pvp and people only do a single scenario in each tier! This leads to massive, repetitive boredom to get to lvl 40...and it feel horribly SLOW. There isn't any real PVE in the game to make the ride to 40 manageable. If you want to grind out quests to 40 with barely seeing other players and not gaining much reward for completing the quests then it's your game. If you want to do the same scenarios over, and over, and over to get to 40 then it's your game. Unfortunately, that's really all there is to it...
I could type a great deal more about it, but I chose to give the basics. I write this because I would've loved to read this before me and my friends bought the game. This is the "exact" feel that me and my 5 friends gathered from the game and also a whole hell of a LOT more people from reading the boards. If you choose to buy the game after reading this you can't say that someone didn't warn you.
I had HIGH hopes with the game, but...it failed. Not quite as bad as AOC, but still the same outcome. Believe it or not though, I think me and my friends played AOC for a little bit longer than WAR. It was more of a failure to us or felt it, but we played it longer. Perhaps because even though it was broken to all hell it actually had a great deal of world pvp and "some" dungeons to do.

The following is what you can expect from WAR:
1) REALLY fun pvp in the only T1 scenario that people play. This will take you to lvl 12 with the few quests you do and no public quests because noone is doing them. And by not doing them he means that you can find several groups doing them, he got a point about the scenario tho. Fortuantly there is Open RvR
2) Fun pvp in the only T2 scenario that people play. This will take you to lvl 22 with maybe a few quests and no public quests because they're completely barren. See above statment
3) When you hit 22 chances are you will start to get worn out doing the scenario grind. At this point you probably already have a few alt characters that either never made it out of T1 or just made it out of T1. At this point things tend to get more Guild oriented and that would be a good time to find a few new friends as the PvP game starst to take on a more largescale typ.
Well this is just more of the same. But to be fair and objectiv, you will need a guild or a groups of friends to be able to enjoy this game to it's fullest. But then again this is a MMO.
This have been a good conversation
lol ur probably on some low pop server for that renown/exp boost and to lvl up easily alls u have to do is a combo of everything - rvr, quests, kill collecting, pqs (join a guild ppl do that stuff together all the time and no not some guild made up of a dozen ppl) man the OP is failure
OP:
All I really have to say is don't play this game without a guild. It works wonders all the way up to level 22 (ish). Then leveling is slow and your only option to do it fast it scenarios.
To be able to raid keeps and PQ's you need more people which you won't really find randomly.

Am I the only one saying this? Nope...read the boards. Check warhammer alliance boards as they seem to be the most popular. Most people are finding the same play experiences... My guild of about 10ish all quit and many people of 50+ guilds say they've just about all quit.
Anyway, read the boards...read my post, if you have the $50 bucks and want to gamble on it then do just that. It won't affect me one bit. I'm just giving some real feedback from my and a LOT of people's perspectives of what to expect.
I said my piece and did what i wanted to in order to help the people still trying to decide and I'm done with the post. Take my, my friends' experiences and do what you want with it. At least you were warned.

funnily enough i was about to say the same thing . i was having the same problem as the op then changed servers and what a huge difference it makes to the game when you play on one thats got a medium to high population th. i ve got into large world pvp battles at have nothing to do with the scenarios . if you give it a chance and go to a decent server this game is far more action packed and far more rewarding than warcraft is . which actually now seams a bit dull to me compared to what i ve experianced in warhammer .
it is a far superior game to age of conan . for one thing its a lot more polished and its a lot of fun and it is the first game release that actually has the potential to be a real alternative to warcraft .
but what it needs desperatly is a 14 day free trial so people dont have the same experiance as the op and they get to see what the full potential of the game is in its early stages . given its far more reliant on the number of people playing than other mmos its crucial this is done sooner than later .
the one thing i would say is though if you are a player that souly likes thier pve this game really is nt going to be for you . if you like the challenge of pvp its the best mmo out there for you .
Yes, what you said is definitly the truth. I can confirm it aswell. I'm currently rerolling so I can experience Tier 1-2 again. I'm waiting for 1.1 patch that might set things straight to me.

my experiance was exactly the same untill i changed server . so there is some truth in what you say . but if you played lord of the rings or warcraft on a low server the experiance you d get would be totally different to a mid to high population server . the problem is no one knew what the good servers would be untill the first month was up and the populations settled down . my feeling is they would be wise to cut back on the number of servers at least in the short term so people get to see the game as it should be seen . my guilds got 30+ in it and is adding new members all the time .
one thing i do agree on is that you should be able to see how good the game is before you spend 50 bucks on it and thats why a free trial is needed . i would say if you could theres a very good chance you would buy it .
it is all down to the server . my advice is to try a few different servers in the first week or two and ask around see what people have to say about it . make sure you only join a server that stays at a medium rate for most of the time . its best to play on an rvr server and not a core one because the core servers defeat a lot of the point in the game play in my opinion . ( theres a lot more fun to be had on rvr but you can get ganked at lower levels but that tend to lead to some interesting skirmishes )
the other thing to do is learn to use the flightpaths and if you want some world pvp if you cant find any in one area look in another . most of the time you can find a warband somewhere if your on a decent server .
Im on Phoenix Thorne which is one of the more populated servers and I've been in a guild since the start... what the OP said is pretty much right on.... When the game first came out it was a lot of fun because the T1 area was full of people to play with and PQ's were busy... Now PQ's are a ghost town as people have found its faster to get xp by doing scenarios...
Even with friends and a guild its hard to find groups to do what you want to do in the game... For example I wanted to do chapter 14 PQ, So I send a request in guild chat for some help... Here's what I usually get in response... ""Sorry but I already did the 14 PQ and don't really want to do it again"", or ""were doing Scenarios, if you want to do those instead you can join us""
This game is poorly design to keep people playing together... The PvE was designed for solo play only and the so called Dungeons are just big PQ's.... So it's a pretty lonely game unless you like doing Scenarios...
Open RvR is to boring IMO, you take a keep which is usually just killing some NPC's because its rare if the other side ever defends a Keep, usually because they will just wait until the other side leaves the area then they take the keep back easily... Plus there's really no incentive to do Keep takes, the rewards suck and that's if you can even get a reward bag, after 50+ keep takes the best I've gotten is a few green bags even tho i'm usually in the top 5 contributors each time..
