What is that supposed to tell us how many characters have been created? What use is that? If you think the population is good you must not be playing and you are definately not playing on the same server I am. When you log in and don't hardly see another player it's a pretty safe assumption that the population is very low. I don't care how many boxes this game sold or how many characters were made the game is empty on most servers and that's all that matters.

What pop level is your server? low low, med med, or high high?
What numbers are those? Characters created? If that's characters created..that's a pretty sad number. That probably means accounts created is around 450k divided by 2-3 ( I would say maybe even 4). Let be generous and say that's 225k accounts created...and if we consider a 70% resubscribe rate (which is again, generous), then we end up with around 157k ACTIVE accounts. WOW that's a horrible number and I would say unaccurate. I would probably say, if 450k was the amount of characters created, then right now, there are probably 100k active accounts. That doesn't seem right to me.
Just wait until mythic rolls out the free transfers, then bitch about server population.
Exactly. When people begin migrating and Mythic closes down some of the dead servers you will have nothing to complain about. Other than "oh its too crowded in the pq's and open RVR". Hell people complain that it's raining and cold one day, and then that the sun's out and its hot the next. Its human nature.
Also, I have had no population problems on Red Eye Mountain. Even during weekdays during the day. Scenarios pop, keep sieges take place and pq's have a few people in them. And in the evenings (EST), its perfect.
The problem is Mythic is expecting people to play on dead servers until that happens.
Every indictor points to warhammer losing a signicant number of players every week. The server mergers are taking way too long.. Instead of emptying the lowest 5-10 servers, by the time they figure out how to do it, they are going to have to empty half their servers.
WOW, Lotro and Eq2 are all have expansions coming out soon, and the only thing people are hoping for in Warhammer is server merges

I'll have to assume this is the number of characters created on any server. that means the numbers are far worse then I would have expected. I'm guessing this is pulled from waralliance data. What this says is that tier 2+ there are maybe 300k players which is probably still somewhat higher then real live accounts.
In retrospec I don't believe these numbers I think they are a subset. Their MUST be more then is shown here. a little over 500k characters is about half what I would expect.... Maybe we just don't know what this data means.

Smack talk aside, where are the European servers?
There's only NA servers listed and your calculation, generous or not, are not correct.
That site is deceptive since A) it's characters created. It only shows NA C) It doesn't show the cloned servers since they don't show up on the herald and D) I think someone said it only showed guilded players.
So the numbers would be higher than that.
Problem is though, there's still no way you can pull any kind of meaningful current subscriber number out of that.
Even the most populated servers are med/med... most are low/low or low/med
I would guess that Mystic subscription levels are down to around 300k players and dropping each day... Tier 1 and 2 are a lot of fun to play, but once you get to Tier 3 the game becomes very repetitive and boring... Each Tier is just a copy of the one before it, with the exception of it being a bit bigger... There is nothing new to do once you hit the level cap.... The Dungeons are just big PQ's and are next to impossible to find a group to even do a them...
People are leaving this game because there becoming bored after 4-6 weeks of playing... Not a good sign for a new MMO...
Just wait until mythic rolls out the free transfers, then bitch about server population.
Just wait until WAR hits 3 months since being released, I'm willing to bet pops will go down again. The PVP and combat system in general just starts to feel repetitive, not to mention the game lacks any meaningful depth. Even the PVP depth is pretty shallow with limited tactics open to players on how to take on a battle, this leads to things playing out the same over and over again. Which brings us back to the repetitive uninteresting feel of the combat system.

If an 2000/2000 meant High/High in a 2500/2500 capped server, if you raise the cap to 5000/5000 then 2000/2000 becomes low/low.
Med/Med, low/low, super_high/super_low do not mean ANYTHING.
However, some people do not get this (IQ problem), and they will continue to give these as proof.

And if you think my calculations aren't somewhat accurate, then show me a better calculation?
Believe me, I don't want to believe that there's only 100k active accounts. I wish there was a healthier population so the servers don't seem so empty.
Good? Are those numbers players or accounts? If it is accounts, then ok, WAR is doing OK but not great, they have still lost many players. If it is characters, then WAR is worse of than AoC already...
These numbers can't be right, they must be higher. I can't really believe them. And is the OP sarcastic?
I truly hope the game is doing better than this, it sounds like a nightmare for Mythic.

The only thing you need to do is watch the Xfire stats this afternoon .... for monday.
Todays stats will be shown within a couple of hours and it's now about 30K (35% down from the launching day)/ 8000 Xfire players still playing after having a high of 14.500 players..
Add to these the 250 K accounts created that are completely lost since then and you come up with 350K to 450 K LESS players already than the weekend highs of 78K only 3weeks ago.
Sample base of Xfire is SOOOO huge (2 to 3%) there isn't even room for significant error in these stats. Most other samples are on a 0.05% market base. We are talking here100 times better sample base.
As to that fellow that tries to defend with the raise of server caps. I have a surprise for you: MJ did NOT tell you WHEN he raised it, NOR the amount with which he raised it '1%, 2%, 5%, 10000% '?).
Which makes for a very fake statement. Certainly in view with
These bestsellers on PC are hourly updated btw. Warhammer will soon be out the top 20 bestsellers list of PC's.
So if MJ is not willing to say WHEN he upgraded the servers AND with how much %, his statement doesn't
hold anyhting against these 3rd party sources.
Face the truth: if it weren't for the NEW copies sold on War these last 3 weeks, the game would already be on par with the under 200K MMO's out there.
Still a little more people are tricked into buying it, but XFire shows they don't want to PAY to PLAY en masse and the game is finally slipping now into luring new innocent victims.
Tx to ign.com and other sponsered websites.
That's the only REAL sad thing about these past MMORPG launches. Sites that give 9.4 to games like AoC and WAR is just so sad for the complete industry.
So quick to write this game off you are. I remember Warcraft's launch. Nothing but crashes and a mountain of problems and lag. People were swarming the forums peaching doom and gloom to the game. It turns out to be the most successful mmo ever made... despite piss poor balance and everything catering to the max level. Max level asshats running around ganking lvl 20s on the pvp servers, making life miserable. Even the low level battlegrounds were full of max level maggots who decided they were gonna just play a lvl 19 twink in warsong gulch and "pwn nublets lululul" ruining the battlegrounds for the lower levels and turning the pvp servers into a painful gankfested crawl to the top. Then, in the name of profit, Blizzard allowed for pve to pvp transfers, then we saw a fresh wave of max level rejects flooding the servers to gank low levels.
If warcrap can be successful after a MUCH crappier launch and horrible balance, then Warhammer, with a little more polish and some tweaking, could be the PVP haven for those who play warcraft and like pvp, but find that warcrafts pvp just sucks, horribly.
what is with people these days, throwing numbers around and calling things a failure. 100k long term subscribers = success, more = doing great.
you know the population of MMOs that die? yeah, people seem to think anything less than a million subs is a failure.
I have fun in the game, so do most other people. the game will stick around for a long time to come and make money for mythic and EA. sounds like an all around success to me.

It all depends in how fast they going to address the population issue.
We have over 27 servers with low - low population during prime times. That is going to be poison to the game if they don't deal with it. As it's half the servers that are nearly empty!
Half the EU servers that can be shut down, when they finally move those people over to the Med - Med servers!
i just dont know why they dont raise the population on server to 10000 for each faction i mean cmon afterall this is a game where u need large amount of people and dont say the crap about lag
That actually makes things look really bad, thats characters created and considering alot of people have created 3-4 alts .....
Ya and another thing, creating alts this early in a release just means that the game is short or people are just bored with it already and trying to find some enjoyment somewhere before quitting. It took me almost a year to create my first alt in WoW, then I created 4 more right away, then I quit for a year. Then after trying out a bunch of different MMOs I saw that WoW was a pretty good game. But Im always looking for something new and WAR failed me. Maybe SGWs will be different but until then, Ill be happy playing WoW.
i just dont know why they dont raise the population on server to 10000 for each faction i mean cmon afterall this is a game where u need large amount of people and dont say the crap about lag
Simple: their engine (based on the same 8 year old DAoC engine) doesn't allow for more players.
Even now server lag is everywhere and apparently you never played DAoC.
Just look it up: window dragging - it was an art in DAoC and it still is in the game.
That's why they have 63 EU servers and LOTRO has ... 11.

since you claim to play, what server are you on ?
That looks about right. The numbers and ratios seem to match up with what i have observed on a few servers ive played on.
I am particularly pleased with how Phoenix Throne has turned out - clearly it is the best server. I'm really happy I made my main there.
