15 new land areas!?! I wonder what prompted this? Ah well more hunting spots the better I say for those that play

Looks like 18 according to the map, actually. The new Land Areas were carved from existing chunks of the Amethera continent, not from newly opened territory. The result is that some of the areas that previously had some fierce mobs on them now have Exarosaurs, and will stay that way till new owners acquire DNA for mobs they wish to stock.

In one of his posts on EF after the First Planet announcement, Marco Behrmann (Formerly MindArks CIO, now President of the new First Planet Company)  made an oblique reference to Land Grab.

Given that some of the older Land Areas seem to still be tied up in the old rumored hunterbot scandal,  it makes sense that MA / First Planet would open up some additional LAs for the purpose of Land Grab or auction.

This, tied with some new clues that have been dropped in-game seem to indicate interesting times ahead on planet Calypso!

Yes indeed, interesting times are ahead for all of us. I am looking forward to see what develops over the next 6 months. 18 more land areas is a great benefit to EU and all who inhabit Calypso. It seems that MA are switching into high gear with the introduction of their planet partners also.
