I would recommend they go to the official forums and go through them before even plopping 50 cents down. Seems like the general forums and tech problems forums are about the only ones that get more than a post or two a day now. It isn't exactly a fountain of optimism over there.
No use you'll find nothing but arguing between servers. The fuel for the debate is who has the bigger population etc...
I don't recommend deathwhisper, Tyranny most likely has more, considering the flow of traffic on their forum. Cimmeria by most accounts is your best bet though, even though it's a RP server it's also a ffa PVP server.
As for over all populations, it's not much different than last month on DW which isn't a good thing. Couldn't tell you when it comes to the others. I'm about to reroll somewhere, I don't even know where yet.

The main thing wrong with AOC is populations, yes it has other problems none of them are to severe though. Considering Ymirs pass is coming fairly soon, a lot of the mid range content problems will be solved, which anyway you look at it a new player will never experience now.
Now they need to focus on end game content, they do have a level 80 dungeon coming soon according to some posters. Bringing new armors to the game is also a high priority. Crafting is getting a revamp soon as well.
If AOC had launched like this, it would most likely have a lot more customers right now. Sure it wouldn't have all 800k of them, it would have sustained far quicker IMO though.
This is actually a good time to start trying it out if you have an interest in it IMO.
There are some things anyone considering it should know. Funcom may not be doing so well right now. I'm not going to pretend to know the true details of this situation, I do know that they lost a lot of subscribers, and spent a bunch of money to build this game. I don't even know how many people are left subscribing, I know it can't be more than 150k or so maybe 200k if (IF) they're lucky.
Server merges have been acknowledged, though they haven't been planned. When and if this will really happen is anyones guess right now. My advice is go with what your gut tells you, if you have a bad feeling listen to it.
You NEED a decently equipped PC to run this game. There's no troubleshooting trick that's going to solve this issue for you, NONE.
At end game your only option is to PVP right now, there's limited raiding, not nearly enough if you're into that form of game play. If you're into PVP with huge amounts of risk involved, you're going to be disappointed. If you're the type of player who wants to be able to attain that one piece of equipment that allows you to "pwn faces", you're going to be disappointed.
Though there is one amount of risk in the game, your keep's can be destroyed. The drawback is that you need a guild to compete in this form of gameplay.
If you're into BG style PVP you should pick a PVE server, you will not find many scenario games in progress on a pvp server.

Bluesteels population is bad
These are the numbers collected over 5 days 17th-23rd oct at 8.30-9pm est so pretty much primetime and they include the 3 busiest days of the week fri,sat,sun
Bluesteel: 148, 310, 267, 168, 179
Some people will be anon but even if you assume a generous 20% of people anon those populations are still completly unacceptable for an mmo at primetime. The lowest pop servers used to get that many people at 5am in the first month.
Not to mention that was a week ago, xfire suggests at least 10% people quit at the billing date renewal since then.
I'd say the only servers that have enough population to be called medium are tyranny, set, cimmaria and deathwisper, anything else is low, very low or abysmal.
There are no high population servers. I'm sorry but a server getting 20% of the numbers it got in the first month can not be concidered high.
That's complete BS. I have been frustrated to death about this. WAR servers are complete ghosttowns now... 1.5 Fockings months after launch. Everybody agrees on that. Most servers are low/low and low/medium and the damn Xfire numbers are red like a murder scene. It's -25% pr week!!!

Numbers just went bellow 28000 (from 56000 4 weeks back), number of players are rocketing down below 8000. I play WAR now and have to reroll already, so I know what these trends mean. I think no game can show to such a disasterous trend. Back on topic, can any of you give me a word on how AoC is doing and also possibly a server with good population.
Whats complete BS is your using xfire figures to justify leaving WAR to come to AOC. Did you check AOC figures in xfire before you posted this? According to Xfire AOC is what something like #45 down from #4 at launch and WAR is #8 down from #4 at launch.
I don't really think WAR will die, it will probably settle at around 250K players.
AoC is quite a good game but it still lack some content, I play it and reccomend Crom if youre playing a EU server, can't help you with the US ones.
I cant say about other severs but as the above post says crom is good pop server i see peeps all the time were ever i am in the game world, all i can say is give it a try only you can decide. I play wow, lotr, aoc, war and like them all and have fun on them all !

Also, if you want to use your precious xfire data, compare the AoC's avg daily players and minutes played.

You looking at the same forums I am LOL. I was referring to the "we need a server merge" and the "is there anyone left on this server" and the "this forum is too quiet" posts". Most of the server sub forums are lucky to get a post a day now, although I am sure Funcom will rectify this by the end of the day since I pointed it out here.
looks like both WAR and AoC are bleeding players to me. Here are the Sunday compared to Sunday figures ( Oct 19th and Oct 26th) since Sundays seem to be the days withthe largest populations and we know that no patches or server maintainence normally occurs on Sundays. Last week AoC went from 6822 to 5887 for a 14% loss. War went from 54256 to 40592 for a little over 25% loss. Since other games such as EQII, Eve, WoW, and LoTRO remained pretty much the same and in some cases increased on the same days I can only conclude that those two games are losing players.

Todays patch for Warhammer says

So it looks like mythic will have sorted a good though not perfect solution to population problems only a couple of weeks after it started to become an issue. AoC still has done nothing to help other than try to cover up the issue 4 months after it started to become an issue.
They are hopeing to get server merges in AoC before the end of the year. So that will be 6 months after the problem started and thats only if they hit their plan which is something they have failed to do consistantly.
Well ive played both games and can say they are both pretty bad. Thats just my opinion ofc and others wil lthink differently.
Personally I have returned to wow and its a breath of fresh air for me again. Looking forward to expansion with all my guild friends as all of them have returned from the let down games of AoC and War.

No, you clearly dont know what your talking about. I was on AOC at release, you think WAR servers are a ghost town? you should have seen AOC servers. The world of AOC was much bigger, I could go 4 hours of playing and see 1 or 2 people, not the case on WAR. IF you roll on a populated server, OR transfer to one as they have announced the free transfer you can EASILY see more then 1 or 2 people in a 4 hour period.
WAR has certainly lost population, but it is NO WHERE near what happened to AOC. AOC was a broken, POS with no population, no one listening game when I left it, on top of that I did reach end game, it sucked too.
LMAO, gotta use XFire to be "counted" in their ubah data.....and what's the ratio of gamers that even fook with XFire compared to those that do not......that's another story......
OMFG, you mean Warhammer is losing subs because, GASP, some people do not enjoy it?! What is the friggin basis for any of your alls comparrisons?! Was everyone that sub'd to War suppose to be totally enthralled and super glued to their PC's by this (IMO, compared to to much to list) very solid RvR based game?! Yes it has flaws, all code has flaws, even after closed beta's a released title is still technically in beta till it dies, otherwise you wouldn't have, OH SNAP, updates, and fixes......
It's like folks expected WAR to either hit 1 mil subs right out teh gate or some ridiculous fecal matter ( MODs, no need to warn or edit me, HAR)
AoC is a cool game (also IMHO) for what it is, it has some really nifty new ideas, but it alas is also code, backed by a poor customer oriented team.
Not just to the OP, but to all, everyone seems to be looking for an MMO to settle down in or some such nonsense......ROFL, play what interests you, heck go read up on the features (that are actually implemented) if it sounds like it would be fun, GAME ON!

Thanks for the responses guys. What I read between the lines was AoC has good stuff going for them. Population have taken a big hit but are good on a selection on servers. There also seem to be some good content incoming besides patch 3.0. Like Dx10. I also read that LotRO might be a good alternative. I might wanna take a look on LotRO. Can I have some more feedback on LotRO population?
Meanwhile I just want to say WAR seem to be totally fcked now. WAR is out of top 10 list and number of Xfire players dropping with 1000 a week. There is seemingly no improvement to the trend either. Mythic dropped the ball on a so good thing here. I just don't understand it.

I don't know why you keep saying Warhammer is dying and then asking about AOC. They both are losing about 15-20% of their players every week, but Warhammer currently has like 10x's as many players as AOC.
Any AoC fan will tell you that Xfire stats don't mean anything.
LOTRO has pretty good graphices, and requires a group to finish the Fellowship questlines.
I only got to play LOTRO for 3 days of my free trial (due to me having to leave town), but from the look and feel, it has "epic game" qualities, and it isn't a game where you can solo the whole thing (like AoC) . It doesn't have the same high end graphics that AoC has, but that means that when 20 people are in a small area, your framrate won't drop to 5-10 fps.
If you need a good game to play, you could do a lot worse than LOTRO

Well the new patch has some serious issues with the PVP system that was patched in, in full, today. You can be attacked byt a lower level and when you retaliate you are attacked by guards and get massive murder points. Then when you attempt to do the quests to remove this stigma, the quest giver is broken and you cant get the quests !

Crom seem to have some players but bit of a soloist myself so might not care that much, not sure how to see how many players are online, no idea how to even see the people in the same zone /list or /who does not seem to work.
At this point my AoC account is cancelled and no it is not because i don't like the game, all my other mmo's are cancelled to thanks to way to much bills every month so my salary is not enough to pay it all
so have to lower my costs, credit cards are nice but way to easy to spend more then you can pay

Honestly OP, if you think WAr has problems (and it has), then what will you say about AOC?AOC is just not losing as many subs as war since it already bleed for months to the point that is almost on life support.
let's be honest, mythic is being slow to react to the axial problems, but it is reacting. Funcom didn't do a thing to adress AOC main probs for 4? 5 months? maybe i'm being bad, funcom did a few things, most of didn't fix the central problems and end up creating others.
Lol what a bullshit post. With November 17th live event and introduction of two missing classes population will only increase. Today in T3 RVR it was crazy, 200 people and my pc lagged to death. People on AOC and WAR forums need to try harder to be trolls.
