This game is a complete toss up.

Since the GM's over on their forums can't remove posts here I've got to say...

I am a long time player, (well as long as one can be in this case).

Atlantica is a great game, combat wise.

Originality of story isn't that grand, as a matter of fact one would even say that this game rips off more than it lends merit to any of the mythos.

Regardless great game, alot to do right?

There could be were it not for....

The limit on what you can do. I never whined during the stamina problems. Appreciated the fact stam later became more of a buff.

Book trades and such, not too bad an idea.

However now they have imposed quite a limit on opening any kind of item box after a certain point.

To people who really haven't played the game this means very little however I have found with this last step and limit the game is effectively being over controlled.

Zero freedom in play.  You gain loot/weapons/enchant stones/etc with boxes. There are ALOT of boxes if you are an active player.  As a matter of fact when you run out of things to do exp wise due to stam you have few options.

1.PvP

2. Crafting -which can require combat- /which is again limited by stam.

3. Questing (providing they don't limit that one too)

4. Honestly i can't think of a 4. Exploration is almost moot.

This game can be great, but at current the developers are taking the game down a complete baby sitting route, once stam dies it's hard enough to get materials for crafting (many materials cost an arm and a leg to buy from the markets and are easier to grind) but now we are limited to how many boxes we can open in a RL day?

To me this a a road that makes zero sense, as we can create accounts to open boxes anyhow. It's just another nail in the coffin for me personally. It's a huge annoyance to have to login to another char/account to open item boxes. And at current (below 40) it's really hard to upgrade with these limits.

It's a real pity too because all in all the games combat is enjoyable, tactical and well thought out.

The remaining hindering systems is what will see this game flop. I'm pretty sure all these limits are added to make buying something that will increase these limits in the mall. Atleast that is what I am thinking. (This coming from a guy who has spent 14 years in advertising/sales/marketing)

    That stam isn't a buff?

You realize this thread is them creating artificial item delays don't you?

    Not stam.

In my opinion stam is more a buff now than a flaw...where as these damned boxes OY VEY

Personally, I'm not a believer in the Atlantica loot system.  "Stuff Quest" should be embraced by mmo developers - rare drops and item customization are fun fun fun (Diablo 3 might just make my head explode - in a good way).

I do agree that the box limit is "odd", but it's not enough to make me stop logging in... probably because I'm pretty casual.  However, as correspondent, I'm trying my best to set aside a day to try and hit the limit and see what that does to my psyche

(If I have a complete breakdown, I'll try to post a vid to youtube or something)

Yes, maybe you right about item mall, but I guess that stamina is a nice solution to limit botter farming, isn't ?

You can pretty much crack it in an hour of playing..

It's not like I'm talking an abundance of boxes see>spirit/sea kings

I'm talking...at level 40 I run out of boxes grinding just that 40 mobs. With level 40 mob box drop rate.

Thats really not a whole lot of boxes.

It's irked me, not to the point of absolutely quitting. But as far as I am concerned the system is way too controlled and is directly telling me this.

"Hi I'm a game. Do this."

"Hunt things until my stam runs out (x3 exp x2 loot, why not.)

Limited series questing: Sure you can quest all day long, but even those dwindle fast. And most quests are straight forward and linear as they come .

(Not a personal problem as I never read the tripe quest writers produce these days. This goes with all mmo's. I don't watch a bad movie, read a bad book, play a bad game...Why read a bad quest. Objectives please!)

Farm during stam time, otherwise HAHA to you!"

Basically the devs are hammering nails into this piece quicker than I can say "Aw wth".

I honestly do not understand a dev company that STIFLES gameplay in the name of "bot protection/spam protect -there is none-/gold farming prevention.

It's like arresting an entire neighborhood for the quciki mart being robbed.

So while the system only hinders RMT type farming, it greatly GREATLY hinders real game time. And in a way the Devs have proven they are either ENTIRELY too paranoid on the "Bad" mmo's bring and thusly are actively adding the most foolish systems known to mmorpgs. (limitting play on your customer base, oi).

Or they are completely stupid, as instead of a gold farmer walking off and quitting due to the systems they are finding players instead quitting. A farmer will always find a way to turn a dollar with a mmo.

They are hustlers. They'll figure a system out. Meanwhile me the average casual joe is being pushed out in the name of the "system".

Which is fine and all, it is just a game afterall. Just means more disposable income elsewhere later on.
