A forgotten MMO

One MMO I loved when it first came out and I played it up untill the close and i've always wondered what really happen to it?  Motor City Online! why did they shut down this MMO?  I thought it was really fun and had alot of good ideas that could have been built on to make the game really sucessful.

For years i've looked on the internet from time to time when I do MMO searches to try to find a Motor City Online 2 so too speak another racing game that similar too it but I always come up empty... such a fun mmo I would love to play a MCO2

 Will there ever been a MCO2? or something of the likes?!

Lag, as with most online games, was a problem, with cars acting unpredictably during times of high latency. Previous Motor City Online users were offered access to The Sims Online, Ultima Online, or Earth & Beyond."

It's a shame, really.  A game based on the building, tuning, and racing of classic American muscle cars sounds like an amazing gameplay experience.  Some other games are trying to do something vaguely similar, (Project Torque comes to mind, but it's not really massively multiplayer,) but MCO really lacks an equal in the current MMORPG landscape.

Yea, and what about Bikini Ninja Babes vs the Mutant Pirates of the Caribbean? Whatever happened to that one?
