I'm still playing CoH/CoV. I'm tired of WoW. I waited for my friends to give me their reviews on WAR and AoC, pretty much all meh to boring there. I can't put too much faith in 20 greeks putting together a sandbox mmo in 15 years time...

I was blown away by the new Aion gameplay video! Over-the-top fantasy, extremely good graphics and arcade style combat (that's right I said "arcade," I'm that old,) and a few new interesting twists on what's out there now.

I typically don't care for the "asian style" mmos. The graphics look too anime, or something. I can't put my finger on it but I just couldn't get into them. Aion has a bit of that "asian style" but overall it looks like a unique fantasy setting. Neither asian or western. I love the look.

I'm excited about the three faction PvPvE idea (really, shouldn't Dragons be the ultimate enemy in a fantasy world?) as well as the aerial combat. NCSoft's City of Heroes has a fun travel system in which flight is an option. They haven't quite worked aerial PvP but I don't think they would have to diverge too far from their present system to make it work. Who knows, mabye PvP flight will be a viable option in I13

Anyway, I do think gameplay is more important than graphics but the MMOs need a good graphical shot in the arm. I like AoC's graphics, and I appreciate the darker mature theme, but deep down I'm more of an over-the-top fantasy guy. Aion looks like it delivers BIG in that department. As far as gamplay goes, I'll have to wait and see. I'm a fan of NCSoft. I think they put out quality products. Aion looks like no exception.

The only thing I don't see is some sort of Ogre/Troll/Minotaurish type playable character. The character creation looks great, although it has to go a very long way to beat CoH, but I want my giant monsterish character. That's about my only criticism of Aion thus far.

As for what I've seen in the world of MMOs, Aion looks like "it" for me.

p.s. Did any Anarchy Online players notice the Aion Leets in the latest gameplay video?

You said it, the character creation is great enough to get a troll like creature :D

The game does really look fun, I'm excited that it's a fantasy title that isn't typical. No Elves, Orcs, Dwarves...None of that..It reminds me of the Final Fantasy series in a way.

I have to agree. I've been floating around quite a few different MMO's trying to find something that tickles my fancy. But nothing seems to deliver. Aion looks to be the light at the end of the tunnel. With the OB happening in Korea, we can hope that the wait won't be too much longer for us US/UK'ers.

Let us pray that NCSoft will be nice, and perhaps cut the character creation part of the game out, translate it, and maybe make it a free downloadable to show off the pure beauty of true character customization. Not to mention the graphics will be shown off abit, giving publicity.

    Come on NCSoft!

    1. Yes, yes they should :)

    2. IMO it beats CoX, it is gear based so you can't make a costume like in CoX, but the sheer amount of options to make your base character is off the charts. To beat CoX even more they need a barber shop so you can tweak your look as time goes by.

Remember when AoC was saying you could create unique characters? No way. AoC has a bunch of clones compared to this and so does Eq2 ect..
