Surrender

Have you ever surrendered using the white flag button against a monster or in the free league(I do not know if you can surrender in the free league). Honestly, I have never tried surrendering whenever I go into battles. Because there are still chances of winning as long as the main character is alive. The downside of not surrendering is resurrecting your mercenaries whenever they die. So have you surrendedered? Why or why not?

For FL i believe there a withdraw button. But for your inquiry, yes i have. I was farming in a dungeon that is about my level and i made a few mistakes here and there and ended up having 3 sets of enemy with them ressurecting one another and with my party left with only 3 members(including me) and so i clicked on the white flag. The condition for this is that your main should have his move unused and you loose gold and experience.

be careful when you press that button though. there's like a 10% deduction from your onhand money and a corresponding experience decrease when you use it.

I do sometimes retreat to an enemy. Especially when I haven't resurrected my mercenaries after the battle and then I bump into a monster. And if you want to retreat, you have to wait for two turns first before you can retreat. just a reminder to those who want to retreat.

I do use the white flag as well whenever that I'll be on a grave danger, since I wouldn't want to get back on the town then move again and wait for a very long period of time, even though I can loss a certain amount of exp and gold, atleast, I'm alive.

Honestly, running away isn't a big deal. You only lose a small percentage of experience, even negligible in fact, and you live to fight again another day. I usually surrender when I can see that I won't be able to win the fight, instead of fighting on and using up life potions.
