Hello All,

I am currently developing an independent mmo that is a mix between sci-fi and horror. The premise behind it is a what if scenario (ie. what if the world you knew one day became something that nightmares where made of). The aspect of it is team based with a pvp system and rewards that actually make the world useful. There is three different sides but everyone starts off as one of the sides. At the beginning of the world life we will pick some of those that have signed up and give them the access to one of the other sides. Those players that will be chosen will have a certain pop limit to recruit people from the side they started off with and engage them in a pvp zone whereas the chosen players have the opportunity to change the starter side. Now I will not say that changing sides will be easy but the means of having one side selectable and the other two by selection is to add a depth of the world and to keep a point of imbalance of players to a minimum. I do not know if anyone on these forums has any experience in low poly modelling, texture artistry, rigging and animation but if you do and would like to work on this project, please feel free to respond to this topic. Now before anyone starts ripping me apart, i have had schooling for programming,low/high poly modelling, rigging, traditional art and creating game bibles. As stated, the world is team based and each side will have to overcome obstacles to progress further within the lands.

I think it's become evident that mmo's require too much manpower to be made independantly.  If this is more than just a waste everyone's and your own time pipe dream, then perhaps you should consider changing the platform of the game.

Perhaps multiplayer, but truly a whole world takes the work of many, just keep that in mind if you wish to be realistic about your goals.  Other than that, good luck in your venture.

In all honesty, manpower is not what stops an mmo from being created and being introduced into mainstream. It's about all the recycled wow gameplay that circles most mmo's out there. Every mmo after world of warcraft has had nearly the same everything except for the blizzard brand name. It is not a pipe dream and I do realise what it truly takes to make an mmo and have recruited for the tasks at hand. I am not comparing myself to the pioneers of video gaming like john carmack etc. But I am sure in there starting life they were most likely tol "hey, it'll never work.". I am sticking to this genre and game because I truly feel that the ideas being worked into the game is relatively new with some old school stuff mixed into it. I truly appreciate your posting to my questionisk posting and I respect what you said.

'The aspect of it is team based with a pvp system and rewards that actually make the world useful." I'm some curious of how a team game with a pvp system added ? Do you want those sportsmen to have fights with each other ?

Very agree with this. There are now lots of MMOs, some very popular, but even these very popular ones, there are not too much new things introduced, lack of creativity. Most time, ppl changed the game stroy, the game style and graphics, with the almost same game systems and gameplay though, and released. How interesting it is.
