Biggest battle so far on War too bad.....

Well biggest for our server Averheim so last nite Destruction Folks decided to go for the gold on Averheim and capped all the zones they needed for altdorf, except for one, Reikald....there was over 100 order present at Reikwald and about 130 destruction....finally I thought--a big battle.   At first, everything started going smoothly with getting abilities to fire and such, buffs and other things....then as soon as the battle cranked up hugggeeeeee LAG, I'm talking 13 second delays, my character was just standing there and like 13 seconds later he would attempt to fire, even walking proved to be difficult. BTW it wasn't just my Internet, everyone was complaining on the Chat box, and on the server forums on war alliance, you can see all the gripes about last nites battle.

 

Needless to say Averheim server crashed hard at around 11PM, so hard it didn't come up I think till the early morning hours, don' t know I had to sleep cause of work.  When the server came back up the zones were screwey, Destruction folks lost all their momemtum in capped zones.  Really a huge and terrible let down for Mythic.  I guess their vision of  WAR and huge battle scenes are probably not gonna be possible anytime soon.  I can play Guild Wars and my son plays Halo 3 on our internet at the same time without a hitch, I figure it would be able to handle WAR and the huge battles but no.    It literally takes one realm side abut 4 to 5 hours to pull off something like this, and Destro was trying.  Now I'm hearing about "I quit" and " thats it, no more" and guess what I don' t blame them, my account has about 6 days left after that, no more for me too.

    On the good side, you did say that players were using the chat box.. that is a huge step up from a month ago.

    Look at my earlier posts why I don't like the Pvp fights as a hardcore PvP player and this just adds up to the other aspects of the PvP.

    RvR as a design idea = a perfect 10 to me. Brilliant.

    But the execution through its PvP animations isn't for us hardcore PVP guys. Now apparently the lag hits even more when a lot of players are in one place. It shows that what I felt in  scenario fights was a clear view of the detached feeling me and my friends had. The game isn't going anywhere unless they make a complete new combat control system. And guys, the RvR idea is terrific, no doubt. It's not there that the game is losing its players, it's in the actual combat itself.

    Sorry to hear that. When we had our big fights at The Maw, it certainly was 100+ on either side, and while my frame rate sucked (< 10 fps) the actual lag was minimal, maybe 2 seconds at most, and the server did not crash. I think part of the problem is the apparent collision detection lag induced by the magus/engineer magnets. People often complain about that in scenarios where they get 1 fps when they get sucked in.

    In  our fortress fight we were getting decent fps (30-50) and lag the other night with tons of people.  I turn settings all the way down including cast animation on others and health bars off.  That may help.  I find this game lags a lot more for me than any other's I've played.

    Actually it came back up about 10 minutes later.

     

    And yes, the server was still screwy.  Here it is a few days later, and it's still farked up.

    You still control all of dwarf land, Mid empire is locked for both sides.  I think elf vs delf is working but not sure.

    Not like it changes much, serpents passage still works, and that's all you guys will run anyway, unless it involves outnumbering us 3-1 or more.

    With how Destruction is dominating T4 right now, if you're quitting over 1 big glitch (yes, it's a big deal, you guys have been planning this for a while), good riddance.  Guess what, I and T.A.R.P. were in a couple of partial warbands trying to pq to counteract your pretty well rolling warbands with your autocapping of the zones from rollover VP's.

    At least we showed up with a defense force.  And we wern't going to let you take Altdorf again, so tough cookies.

     

    P.S.  Posting on MMORPG to complain = epic fail.  The only reason 75% of people post here is to validate that they're right by QQ'ing to other disgruntled people to get a sense of satisfaction and validity to their post.  If you want something fixed, you dont go to the idiots on the QQ boards.  You go to warally or somewhere that the devs will read and see why they're losing you as a valued paying customer.

    We had some issues over on Iron rock now and then, biggest battles ive seen have been for halloween maybr 50v50 and Lag was tolerable, provided you have it set to fastest framerate, but fps goes down below 10 fps, making it tolerable but ive not seen delays that are near that, mostly 1 second delays in firing off skills. I firmly believe they need to optimize far more for large battles.

    mythic really needs to fix it and the problem has already been discovered. there is mod called Buffthrottle at curse.com. havent experience bad RVR performance since. before RVR (especially in keeps) would be a slide show when packed. after buffthrottle it is a smooth awesome experience everytime. i dont know why they dont implement what tis plugin is doing into there code.

    OP is talking about everybody hitting huge lag spike, followed by zone server crashing.

    Mods to reduce system lag wont help server lag.

    Though I use buff throttle and between that and making my log folder 'read only' my lag problems are cleared up :)

    Sucks, but I have been in a number of similar sized battles on Ulthuan, and can't say I've seen that problem at all.  

    I can appreciate your frustration as I believe you, but I can't agree this is a game wide problem and have yet to hear of anyone on my server complain of such, nor have I seen steady posts over time anywhere regarding what you describe.

    Sounds like your server went poop, which can happen in any game, hope they fix it for you soon but if you are looking to quit I'd say there are other reasons than this.   If you'd been doing large scale RvR regularly you would know this is not an issue, in fact the stability is vastly superior to other games such as AoC.   One of the things Mythic got right.

    I wonder if what you experienced was actually battle related. Last night at the same time (11 PM PST on Chaos Wastes) our server crashed out and I couldn't get back in for several minutes.
