I've been playing WAR for about a week now and am really at a loss for anything extremely negative that I could say about the game...it takes the good parts of WoW and improves them, and then it does the things that WoW did poorly and either takes them out or turns them into something cooler...I'm having fun so far without feeling like I have to play all day in order to keep competetive.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
If Warhhammer sucks so bad then... why do you naysayers and haters spend so much time in the warhammer forums? just wondering what are you trying to prove? please answer since 50% of the post here are anti warhammer? Is your life really that boring where all you want to do is talk about how much a game sucks. Wouldn't it be better to go to a forum discussing a game you like and talk about positive things you like about that game?
Most are trolls, pure and simple. Last year I tried out Guild Wars, and I didn't care for it and quit playing. Since then I've posted ZERO times in any Guild Wars forum, since I have no desire to discourage anyone from playing it. But then I'm not a troll, I have better things to do with my time.
Like replying to a obvious flamebait thread? I always find it silly that people try to take the high horse on the gaming matter when they are as hopelessly addicted to it as the rest of us are.
Anyway, look at the nge haters then come back and whine about it. Also less than 5%, hardly that even read and post on gaming forums so what we say here, and do here got little to no consequence if a game is successful or not. Let em fanboys and haters duke it out. Make for entertaining read for the rest of us
Heh, I'm at work right now killing time while processes run, but you have a point about spending my time more wisely - point taken. As far as being entertained by semi-literate battles between fanboys and haters: no thanks. But at least you're honest about how you get your kicks.
I can't speak for everyone but for me personally, WAR was a letdown. I should have known better but I still gave it a shot and it disappointed.
I think there are a LOT of us who played Ultima Online and other early MMO games that had such high hopes for the MMO genre back in the early 2000's. It depresses us to know that games have actually gotten WORSE and less innovative over time. The early MMO games had so much more depth and creativity than the new ones. Age of Conan and WAR seem to be the posterchildren for such lack of innovation. Mythic packaged what is arguably the least innovative and most simplistic MMO I have ever seen. Funcom tried to improve combat (and did to a degree) but failed everywhere else in Age of Conan. So I would suggest, from the standpoint of many, WAR and AoC are shining examples of how we, the gamers, feel jaded and disappointed by MMO developers who could care less about making this industry any better.
thank you for honestly posting your feelings about WAR and AOC. i think you are bored/burned out on MMOs period. Trying to be innovative ends up with combat systems like AOC(horrible IMO). Being innovation brings things like RVR. WAR has alot of innovative features that were introduced to the MMO market. WOW has been around for 3 years. Lets see what WAR will be like in 3 years. my only gripe is they release these games too early. they need to finish them before having us be the lab rats.
You are welcome for the reply and thanks for yours. In large part I agree with you, I am quite bored of the MMO industry.
It still doesn't change the fact that the industry has taken many steps backwards. As for RvR, Dark Age of Camelot, which released in 2001, had RvR that was arguably equal to or better than what WAR has now.
It also supported a much better character progression system.
Games like Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Pre-CU SWG, they all offered the player such choice and such freedom. The skill systems were quite innovative as well.
WoW is now 4 years old but I venture to say that EQ1 was the beginning of the end of innovation in the industry. WoW only sped up that process with its wide success.
I believe that most veteran MMO games expect more and demand more from this industry than class systems, instanced worlds, poor crafting systems, traditional RPG combat, and the repetitive quests that MMO games offers today.

Every game sucks on this site if you go by the opinions of no life nerds. Most of them are here to vent frustrations from real life.

Many people will tell you its WOW and AOC fans that are bitter, or they have no lives and are lonely, or some other bologna
Truth is, peopel come here for the same reason people slow to look at a car wreck.... it's interesting.. period
A large portion of this website's constant posters are bitter / jaded long time gamers that think that their old vision of the way games were are the only way games can be and then try to pawn it off as 'innovative and new features' that games should have. They forgot we all started playing games to have fun not look for the one with the most innovative features. Innovative features become old about a month after they're created. I've played MMOs pretty much since the beginning I took long stretches of breaks and while I miss my first MMO the most I dont go into other games hoping that game will be anything like it. I like a nice clean slate of what I'm looking for from each game according to the game's intended design. If Dev's dont' deliver on the intented designed I move on, I'll only post in that game's respective forums if the topic interests me but I don't go out of my way to post X Many threads of why I think it Blows or why it should be more like X game.
I wrote a blog on here about how people should view new games. Heres the link for anyone that cares to look at it.
This forum isnt for sucking a devs b*lls, or for discussing game mechanics. Every single game I have played either has an official forum or a more popular community forum that has all these discussions neatly organised (ie Warhammer Alliance in this case).
People use this forum to discuss how good the game is with the larger MMO community and for others to have a browse through and decide if a game is for them. You could use the official forums, but most are locked to active game accounts. You also have to deal with the fact only the fans of the game willl be there and in some cases over zealous moderation of negative comments.
So in answer to your question go to Warhammer Alliance to enjoy discussions with fans of the game. This place is for good and bad alike, fanbois and haters.
Cloning is legal issue, This the most purest video game cloning I have ever seen. Hey why don't we make the old WOW battle grounds into a video game? That is sure to make us ricccchhhhh! Did mythic even change the graphics? I can't tell, but from what is happening to there population: I predicted 6 months. WRONG 3 at best! I even use to like the RTS Warhammer! This is a message from a troll!
Yes message from a delusional troll. 3 months? copy paste this thread because after 3 months i will laugh at your stupid face. Hope you won't disappear or change nick like most of the pathetic trolls.
WAR is far from a bad game. Unfortunately it relies heavily on a healthy server community to have fun. Server imbalance and bad retention rate killed the fun for me. I have since moved on.
I moved on because what the game should have or could have been isnt what it is. Some of it is mythics fault some of it isnt. Regardless so long as a few servers have a healthy population it wont die. Its a decent game in its own right. I hope in the future someone can take some of there idea's (such as PQ's) and impliment it right.

If it's so good, why are you here instead of concentratiing on playing the game?
What I think is best, is if people on all sides, stop trying to persuade of dissuade people from any games. You like a game, you really don't need to say anything to anyone about it. Same goes to haters.
Lets see, the OP plays and enjoys the game and visits the forums of the game he plays -- and you want to know why ? Are you really this ignorant ? I have visited the forums of the various MMOs I have played since '99. it is a place to find out some of the latest gossip, to discuss some of the latest game developments and patches, to meet and chat with other people that play the same game you do. Please tell me this is not a real question you just asked -- if it is, you need some serious help.
Why? Simple. Deterrence. Exactly. If one person comes on here and see's how many people dislike this game, then those of us who feel ripped off for having bought it are redeemed to some point. Which is why i do it, I got the guides... which were outdated with incorrect information that didnt even help. And then I got the game... yeah.. wish i had waitied a month after reading negative posts, becuase most are spot on. Open feedback systems are the beauty of the internet, and you will always see game companies official forum moderators being commanded to close negative threads. Game companies know that negative feedback and dissent is one of the foremost killers of these games. Which makes me even more suspicious of those companies. I value negative feedback highly on all games I've played and games I may play in the future. If someone who is informed who has played a game can point out a potential issue that may also annoy myself, I am very thankful they saved me my money, time and frustrations instead of giving it to some company that can't think a step further than cloning tired old systems with a few hints of changes to try and make a quick buck. QFT. Copied alot from WoW... UI, skill trees, battle grounds, i could go on. But i agree. Same car.. different shade of paint, maybe with some different windshield wipers... but thats it. Never, ever despise the availability of negative customer feedback. Agreed. Especially when it is truthful.
QFT really..

Maybe we are angry because Mythic didn't try harder?
Maybe you are content because this is all you wanted?
It's called loneliness.
