Newbie Scripter needs a "Blog"

FraekFraek Member Posts: 249

I need to create my own server that I can practice scripting in, and I'm told that RunUO is not the way to go.  How shall I go about this?

It doesn't need to go out on the internet, I just want to run it for my own scripting pleasure.

hello, my name is Fraek I am the reason that Ultima Online is broken.

Please MMORPG staff will you forward a copy of this message  with the IP address of myself to  platinum@uo.com. I would greatly appreciate it as I do not want to spoil the fun of regular normal players who actually want to play on a service that isn't ladden with cheaters who run scripts in Dungeon Doom, or who speedhack in PvP, or who spam lag in PvP and Factions as well.

My name is Fraek, I FIGHT For a fair and normal gameplay enviroment. :)

Uhm, you seem to have gotten this wrong.  I am to practice to become a scripter of a freeshard, not to create cheats or learn of exploits.  I don't plan on OSI (I used to, but it got boring in the long run).
This is why I want to be able to run my own UO-shard, so that I can learn SPHERE-script.

It is me mocking Fraek for posting something as illegal as this.

MMORPG.com does not support trading of beta accounts. Going by that its even more illegal to talk about freeshards which he now admits that its for that, which I think is bullshit, re-read his first post sure he wants to practice on his own shard but then why practice on your own shard if you will then move to another fricking shard.

Its even more illegal after reading his second post, Its even more important to turn this junk in to EA.

yeah  I am being an ass about it but fricking scripters and speedhackers any kind of cheaters piss the fuck outta me. you are playing a game yet you gotta get an edge just to play the game.

Do you also use aimbot to PLAY UT2K4?

As well these type of threads on a reputable website as this one purports to be makes it worse, go post on known hacker websites.

Well, I have paid and played on OSI for about a year, I think I have the right to leave it now and play on a freeshard, espescially seeing as OSI is dull as hell...

And as I said, I'm not planning on doing any type of cheating, that's just plain boring.

The monthly fee is for server maintenance, and since they don't have to maintain my account then I should not have to pay them.  I have paid for the game and for over a year of playing allready.

Its called being illegal and using their code for illegal purposes, there is no expeiration date for you to use their code in anyway, and its illegal to alter the client that they provide you.

I wish there was a notify moderator button, This thread should be deleted posthaste.

I have read the User Agreement thingie, and I do not recall it saying that anything is illegal with creating or playing on a shard that is not theirs.  If you can prove this to with an up-to-date User Agreement me then I shall ask a moderator to delete this thread myself and I shall stop trying to learn SPHERE-Script.

I dont play UO, I havent played UO...but seriously do you actually in your wildes dreams think that it would be legal to put up a shard not controlled by the company who owns the rights to use the server software. About finding information about that in the User Agreement...if I got the picture clear I think it is well covered by the law.

...or have I gotten it all wrong ?

Note: Why am I browsing the UO forum if I don't play UO ? Im bored ok, is that a good reason enough ? :D

EA cant care about this issue to much, free shards have been around for years most are very public, EA has done nothing to shut them down, there are still plenty of people to feed EA that play UO, i dont play much anymore, but im still one of them been that way since 1997

OSI doesn't really care.  Just as Digitydarkman said, they've been around forever.  I know lots of other companies that actively pursue illegal servers for other games, so it must not be that hard.  If OSI did care, all those free-shard servers would have been gone a long time ago.

Besides...99% of those free-shards are not even worth playing.  OSI knows this and doesn't care about them.

Oh, and that first reply to the original poster's question is very childish.
